Could be a faulty/damaged headphone jack or a problem with the iPod's audio chip. Either way, your iPod will need servicing from Apple or a third party repair company.

You likely have a problem with the headphone jack. You jhave to ways to listen to music via headphones:

However first I wold rule out a software problem by try the following:
Reset the iPod:
Reset iPod touch: Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Restore the iPod from backup
- Restore the iPod to factory defaults.
The other way is to use bluetooth headhone if you have a 2G or later iPod. -

one of your headphones is broken
there's something wrong internally in your iPod.
Try different songs to see if all of them only play on one side. also try apps to see if the sound is on one side or both.
Try a different set of headphones/ear buds to see if they sound different
if neither of the above fixes it then you may want to have Apple check out the device and see if the jack is broken -
My phone's speakers only work sometimes. It started recently, and I just moved to Hawaii so I am at the beach alot. Could sand have something to do with this? Sometimes it is better when I plug in my headphones, but not all of the time. Any idea's?

If you are taking your $500 electronic device to the beach, I recommend you get a case that completely seals the iPhone from the elements (ie. waterproof).

My iPod touch is having a little issue with the volume. When I plug in my headphones the volume works fine. When there aren't any headphones plugged in, no sound comes out from my iPod. My iPhone 5s has stopped playing music out of the speakers. It works when I plug in my headphones but other than that there's no sound. It just randomly happened so I'm not sure if I can fix it or if I need to bring my phone in. Help?

The ringer works fine, and the music plays through the stereo system just fine. When I try to turn up the volume, the ringer shows on the screen, but it will not increase in volume. When I unplug the usb, everything works fine. I have tried different cords and different cars, all with the same result. This only happens in the car, when hooked up to the usb in the house or to the computer, everything works fine. When plugged into the car, the sound disappears. Any ideas?

my itunes will not open at all. it occasionally will open but when i plug my iphone into it the program freezes and crashes. please help as soon as possible
i think i might have a solution... i have windows vista and after i installed to latest itunes update everytime i tried to open it it would freeze. I tried everything, including uninstalling itunes and all of its components and reinstalled it numerous times. So i went to the itunes folder in my folders, not on itunes, and i deleted my itunes library and playlists. After that it worked just fine, all of my music was deleted but luckily i had my files saved elsewhere.
I hope this helped! I know its frustrating and APPLE/ITUNES NEED TO FIX THE PROBLEM!!!! -

My iPhone 3Gs has frozen and I can't do anything except turn it off by hard boot. When I plug it in, I have the apple icon and that is all. It was at 43 percent battery life when it happened and my Twitter app was giving me problems. Thoughts?
