When I plug in iPod - iTunes crashes?
Hello.. sorry if this is a repeat question. I lost track of my user i.d. and couldn't track down my question. Anyways, when I plug in my ipod - iTunes loads as usual. However, it crashes and says "this application has failed" or something like that. Usually, my ipod would say "ipod is updating". Now it just sticks with "do not disconnect". My actual files are all still in the ipod - files and the songs are still in itunes. But when i look at the music directory in my ipod - it's empty (due to the no updating thing). It's driving me crazy. I've tried a couple of earlier suggestions and they didn't work. I've uninstalled itunes and re-installed it and that didn't work. I was hoping i wouldn't have to reformat my ipod but if that's what it will take I guess that's that. Thank you very much in advance for any suggestions!

p.s. off topic I know, but since I have your attn.. I have a bigger problem too. All my files (college work for a portfolio!) were dragged in the trash and i hit "empty trash" - so now I'm screwed. I know trash isn't truly trashed so if anybody knows the step by step process on how to recover it I'd be grateful. Thank you for reading.

"The application iTunes has unexpectedly quit. The system and other applications have not been affected."
I haven't gotten around to trying the link out yet becuase I'm still scannning it for my deleted files. Thank you for any other additional help regarding my ipod/itunes issue.

Help?Do the iPod Disk diagnostic as posted by tt2, it wont fix your problem but help in troubleshooting, especially iPod Classic hardisk.

in time, your ipod will die permenantly. i know, its not a good thing to hear but yes, its surprising that you got it to work at all after it being through the washer. it was very smart to let the water dry out. i know people who panic and turn it on immidiatly to see if it still works. they wonder why it turns on, then off and never back on. but, sadly the water got into your hard drive. there is nothing you can do about it. dont try to open your hard drive though because they are made and assembled in dust free rooms. and i dont care how often you vaccuum, there is still dust in the air. where these things are assembled, the air is actually sucked out of the room so it is literally dust free. opening your hard drive will just make it worse, and may actually never work again if you do so. i have been repairing ipods for a year now, so if i were you, take my word for it.

that is odd! that should not be happening.
Are you syncing your songs right off of itunes itself? because it should be syncing over to the ipod however it is listed in itunes. -
My iPod touch is synced to my old Mac and I have a new PC. Now when I plug my iPod into the new computer it will make the connection sound, but will not show up in my iTunes. I do not care to have the content copied over. Any suggestions?

Recently, U2 music appeared on my ipod without my requesting it or wanting it. I was able to delete all of the songs except for one. How do I delete the last one from my ipod? Obviously not too smart with all this technology. I puchased a Blackberry Playbook Tablet and wanted to sync my itunes music, so following directions on the Playbook, I downloaded this app - Daniel Bingham Itunes sync - and when I went to my pc, I pulled it up, plugged in my Playbook and it did sync all my music from my Itunes library to the Playbook. However, now when I plug an ipod in my pc to charge or sync more music, my pc is not showing it recognizes any of my ipods being plugged in. It makes no mention of any of my ipods being connected! I also keep getting this "Found New Hardware Wizard" box that keeps popping up everytime I plug an ipod in - it originally showed up when I had Playbook plugged in to download all its info (I think) but it never completes, saying not compatible - so I click cancel. I have since clicked on remove New found hardware but it still pops up. Why does it continue to show with every Ipod now? Any idea on what I can do to repair this situation? Please help!

Your iPod is designed to sync with only one iTunes library at a time. It will recognize the iTunes library on the PC as a new library. If you sync the iPod with this new library, all content will be erased from the iPod and replaced with what is in the new library. So what you will want to do is copy everything from the iPod to your new iTunes library on your PC first.

This morning, i downloaded about 16 songs to put on my ipod, and i manually dragged them over to my ipod to sync that way (like i always do because the music on my ipod came from a different computer which I no longer have) and on my way to work, i realized my ipod says "no content" under Music. However, when I plug my ipod into itunes and click on the music tab under my ipod name, all of my music is there. What happened and how do i get that music back on my ipod? I need help asap.
You had a glitch and the music files got corrupted. I know of no way to uncorrupt them.
You can try using a computer app like iFunbox

to see if yo can get them from the iPod in a usable file.
Otherwise you will have to re import them to your computer and sync

ITunes freezes when I plug my iPod in. Please HELP
I have a 4G 8GB iPod touch, and it hasn't been synced into iTunes for about 2 months now because iTunes always freezes when I plug my iPOd into it.(I have iTunes 10.1 or which ever one is the latest version and it just freezes). Can anyone help or has the same problem?

I managed to get it to work this way on Windows 7 SP1 X64
Itunes 10.2
Ipod 2g
Open Itunes
Open Task manager
Click on process tab
Connect Ipod 2g
Swap back to applications tab and check for not responding for Itunes
If Itunes goes not responding
Disconnect and reconnect Ipod, while viewing process tab

Ipod classic has been wiped saying 'no music'etc.
Cannot see it on the 'device list' in my itunes. I have tried restoring to factory settings and reloading...it reloads some of the music, but when I plug the Ipod back in, it wipes it again. Ocassionally Itunes freezes when I plug in the Ipod.Make sure your headphones are plugged in all the way, meaning you cannot see any of the silver still showing from the headphone's plug.
A feature of the Nano is to put it to sleep when the display goes out and it does not detect any headphones.

When I plug my iPod classic (only three months old) into iTunes, it doesn't show up as a device on iTunes. I plugged it in to update last nightm, but all my music was erased and now it isn't even recognized. The iPod itself shows it being connected, but nothing on iTunes. Any ideas would be appreciated. eta2359
