Hello AliHoward,
You may need to completely remove iTunes, QuickTime, and other Apple software from your system prior to reinstalling. The following articles (one for Windows XP, the other for Windows Vista/7) detail the removal process. I'll also link you to the latest version of iTunes for Windows (64bit specific installer).

  • Iphone 4 keeps saying "accessory not supported by iphone"

I have an iphone 4, and have updated it. I can't get to work with any fm transmitters. I have tried the itrip and the belkin tunebase FM live.  Each time the acessory will charge me phone, but will not play music.  As soon as you plug it in a window shows up that says "This Acessory is Not Supported by Iphone" even though the product is made for the iphone. I have made multiple trips to best buy and no one can help me.  How do I get past this error message and get the phone to play music through the fm transmitter?

I would try cleaning your dock connector.
There are many threads about this subject and it is possible there is no support for your iPhone in iOS 5 for your particular accessories, especially if they are older versions of an accessory.

  • TS2634 when i plug in my supra ekey adapter i get the message "accessory not supported by iphone" and i've had the adapter checked. it's ok

When i plug my supra ekey adapter into my iphone, I get the message "accessory not supported by iphone". I know the adapter works because I took it back to my realtor association and they checked it.

Try cleaning out the phone's dock connector. A soft dry toothbrush or similar.

  • Connecting my iPhone 4S with 3rd party composite cable; error "accessory not supported by iphone".  Sound comes through and it charges but NO Video???

Connecting my iPhone 4S with 3rd party composite cable; error "accessory not supported by iphone".  Sound comes through and it charges but NO Video???  I have verified the cable, I can play video with sound from iPod Nano 4th gen.

composite don't support mirror so it will only display on the tv when the app being used support tvout option
the build in video app does so it should display on the tv at least my composite cable does with my iphone4
the audio always works it's pretty much works like a headset

  • Accessory not supported by iphone just appeared.  HUH?!?

I have an iphone 4 and for several accessories i get "this accessory not supported by iphone"  I cleaned the contacts and still get it - any ideas?  It never happened until recently and it happens in teh car adapter and other adapters.

Clean the dock connector with a soft dry brush.
In the future, try a search before posting... this issue is discussed regularly.

  • Accessory not supported by iphone message keeps appearing . . .  .

This morning, my iPhone began to randomly display a "accessory not supported by this iPhone" message and keeps asking if I want to go into Airplane mode. On more than one occasion, the phone was not plugged into ANY accessory and was simply sitting on the table.
On another, it was playing music via the headphone jack into my car stereo.
I'm running V. 3.1.3, upgraded when it came out and have had no incident until today.
Any ideas? Not a big problem, just more of an annoyance.

Check your phone's dock connector and make sure it is free of lint and other pocket debris.

  • Wahoo ANT - Accessory Not Supported by iPhone

I try to connect a Wahoo ANT+ Fitness device, model AP201, to my iPhone 4 with IOS 5.1. I get the error message "This Accessory is Not Supported by iPhone". My wife has the same iPhone and the same IOS version and the accessory is working 100 % correctly with her iPhone. I have tried the following: Reset device in iTunes, Restored backup from iTunes, Reset all setting; however, the same message appears on my device. I have also tried to remove lint etc. from the connector contacts. Any ideas what to do next?

This does not help you, but i would like to mention that I have the exact same problem with my AP201 model (iOS5.1.1).
    - Connector is clean (very clean).
    - IPHONE 3GS en IPAD2 are working correctly, and 4 different iphone4 models do not work....
I hope Wahoo or Apple has a solution to this problem.

  • Syncing Itunes and Podcasts says its not supported by Iphone?

Hi, I just tried syncing my iphone this morning to get my new podcasts on it...and when it was done i got a pop up window saying the the podcasts were not able to sync on to my iphone because they are not supported by my iphone version - thought this was odd when I just synced two days ago and put the previous version of the podcast. I've tried restarting my computer and turning off and on my iphone..still the same message. Is there something I need to do, or upgrade. I usually get the upgrade messages on my computer...haven't seen anything lately....can you help? thanks.

Do you have the latest firmware on your phone? (1.1.3). That came out about a month ago.
If you do have it I'd recommend doing a restore to see if that doesn't solve the problem.

  • TS1363 Mac says "Accessory Not Supported " when I plug in my New Nano?

I get the above Message when I pluf in my Nana. And Ideas for Resolution?

Have you tried another USB port or USB cable to see if that makes any difference?  Is the iPod's dock connector port clean and clear or any debris or damage that could be preventing a full and proper connection?

They used to work fine before! I just listened to some songs an hour ago!

there is no virus try hard reset back up your data
Switch-off the phone (Remove the battery and re-insert it, if necessary). Now Press and HOLD the GREEN (Call) key, RED (Call end) key and the Camera-capture key SIMULTANEOUSLY. While still pressing the above three keys press the power On/Off key, hold them until phone boots up.
If  i have helped at all a click on the white star below would be nice thanks.

  • IHome iA92 not supported by iPhone 4?

I just got an iHome iA92 speaker system.  When I dock my iPhone 4, it recognizes the iHome as a power source and begins charging.  However, the error message "This accessory not supported by iPhone." soon comes up, and music will not play through the iHome speakers.  My iPhone's software is up to date and I tried restarting it, but the problem continues.  The iHome box and manual both clearly state that it should work with an iPhone 4 and even has a special docking mold for the iPhone 4, but the error message comes up every single time I dock it, without fail.  Any ideas?

I have this same issue... Any help would be appreciated

  • Need to sinc my iphone 4 never done it before and when I plug it in to the laptop it tries to sinc to my dad's old long gone iphone?

I need to sinc my iphone 4 that I bought in the summer of 2011. I've never done it before and when I plug it in to the laptop it tries to sinc to my dad's old long gone iphone?
This laptop was used by him when he had a iphone a year or so ago but he has since changed to an android phone.
This is the only laptop we have and he has no use for the itunes or anything iphone related now so how do I get Itunes to forget his phone and let me connect mine so that everything on my iphone can backed up and so I may proceed with all the updates out there to bring it current....while still losing none of my stuff.
it was only plugged in for a second and now my ipone setting about page says "Danny's phone" which is what his used to be called but all my stuff is still here...???

    Hey joshuafromisr,
If you resintall iTunes, it should fix the issue. The following document will go over how to remove iTunes fully and then reinstall. Depending on what version of Windows you're running you'll either follow the directions here:
Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1925
    or here:

  • I can't synch my iPhone with iTunes because the device does not show up in a device window when I plug it in...it's missing in action and thus I'm not able to add any content from the iTunes to my iPhone, e.g. podcasts

I can't synch my iPhone with iTunes because the device does not show up in a device window when I plug it in...it's missing in action and thus I'm not able to add any content from the iTunes to my iPhone, e.g. podcasts.   All the instructions on synching start with "find your device in the device window".  But what if you have no device window?

Missing "message" from above: The iPad "DGMTR" is synced with another iTunes library on DGMTR's MacBook Pro. Do you want to erase this iPad and sync with this iTunes library? An iPad can be synched with only one iTunes library at a time. Erasing and syncing replaces the contents of this iTunes library.
I thought the libraries were the same.
