When I plug in my iPod I get this message. Why?
Hello!
I've just wiped my hard drive and reinstalled my operating system from scratch. I now have Mountain Lion.
This is the message I receive when I now plug in my iPod Touch.
http://i47.tinypic.com/35cmqyu.jpg
I've not yet clicked on the 'Erase and Sync' button.
I contemplate that I'm going to have to copy all my own CD's again <shrug> (unless anyone can explain otherwise!)
Just wondering why my computer no longer recognises my iPod.
Does anyone know?
Hi BDAqua
Thanks for responding.
I've had a great time exploring matters, including finding this item: https://developer.apple.com/library/mac/#documentation/CoreFoundation/Reference/ CFUUIDRef/Reference/reference.html
I did look at the Express Lane - but didn't wish to pay for the service. Thanks anyway.
Then I remembered that I was "in the cloud" now - including iPod back-up. So I took a chance and clicked on the 'Erase and Sync' button. Hardly life threatening if everything went wrong!
Long story short - I now have all my music re-installed on my iPod from the cloud!
Phew!
Thanks again for helping. Much appreciated.

I've been told that I need to sync my new computer with my apple ipod. HELP!!
If you do not know the passcode to your iPod Touch, you'll need to connect the iPod to the iTunes library you normally sync it with and restore it in recovery mode. However, since your home button doesn't work, you'll need to use a program such as this one to try and get it into recovery mode.

I have Photoshop CS5.1 (bought in 2011). The photoshop Camera Raw plug-in is not recognizing the format of my new Nikon D610. I updated the version of my Camera Raw plug in and am still getting this message when trying to open images in photoshop. Please help.
This link shows that ACR 8.3 supports the Nikon D610 and 6.7.1 was the final version for CS5.
Camera Raw plug-in | Supported cameras
So you can upgrade to CS6 and ACR 8.7.1
or using the DNG converter, convert your Nikon raw files to dng format to open in CS5.
Here is the download link: Adobe - Adobe Camera Raw and DNG Converter : For Macintosh : Adobe DNG Converter 8.7.1
or Windows: Adobe - Adobe Camera Raw and DNG Converter : For Windows : Adobe DNG Converter 8.7.1
And here is a great video tutorial on how to use the converter.

When I turn on my iPad I get this message: "iCloud Backup - This iPad hasn't been backed up in 2 weeks. Backups happen when this iPad is plugged in, locked, and connected to Wi-Fi." It has rendered my iPad useless as I cannot even unlock it, and it shuts down within a few seconds of turning it on. Is there any way to clear this?
Try this now.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up. -
I had a new hard drive fitted to my imac and restored it from my time machine back up on an external hard drive when I try to open itunes I get this message "the itunes library extras.itdb file is locked, on a locked disk, or you do not have write permission for this file"
To solve this issue all I did was check to ensure that the file permissions were set as described by the earlier posts, followed by simply deleting the iTunes Library Genius.itdb file. Once the file was deleted I was able to open iTunes without difficulty. Note that I am running Windows 8. Hope this helps!

When trying to log into itunes i get this message:
Firefox doesn't know how to open this address, because the protocol (itmss) isn't associated with any program.
I had to reset Firefox (due to slowness and shockwave error message that I kept getting). Itunes was downloaded after the reset, but I can't get into it? Any ideas?I ran into this same problem after Firefox auto-updated to v24! I'm on the Beta Channel and I had Firefox set to automatically update.
What I did to correct the problem:
1. Turned off all automatic updating.
Options> Advanced> Update [tab]
Firefox updates
[x] Check for updates, but let me choose whether to install them
[ ] (unchecked) Use a background service to install updates
I also unchecked;
[ ] Search Engines (I will turn this back on after I'm done with my experiment.)
2. Googled 'Firefox v23 download', downloaded and installed: Firefox_Setup_23.0b1.exe (version 23, Beta 1)
Since I reverted back to v23, I haven't had any problems. -

What does "This ipod can not be used because the apple mobile device service is not started" mean. After I updated my Itunes I get this message when I plug in my Ipod and it doesn't come up in Itunes.
If you are using Windows 7, go to:
Control Panel>Programs>Programs and Features
Look for a program called 'Apple Mobile Device Support'
Right-click on it
Click 'repair'
Wait until the repair operation is complete, and voila, your problem should be solved, itunes will recognise your iphone/ipod once more. This worked for me. -
When i plug in my ipod, i get nothing
the manual says that when i plug in my ipod, itunes is supposed to come up. well, mine doesn't. i downloaded itunes and everything, but it won't work. i can get songs loaded onto my itunes account, but they don't load to my ipod when hooked up.
Is your iPod still beeping when you connect it to your computer?
I would suggest that you try putting your iPod into disk mode (not while connected to your computer).
to put your iPod into disk mode, follow the instructions here:
Putting iPod into disk mode
Then, with your iPod in disk mode, connect it. Does it act okay and show up in iTUnes now, or not?
If it doesn't, then take a look at these articles, and see if they help with your issue (if your iPod is being recognized in "My Computer", then skip the last article):
iPod is recognized by Windows but not iTunes
iTunes 7 doesn't recognize iPod
iPod missing in "My Computer" or in iTunes for Windows
