When I plug in my Thunderbolt, nothing happens.

I just purchased a 27" Thunderbolt to use with my MacbookPro, 10.6.8 OSX. When I plug the Thunderbolt cable into the computer, nothing happens. I know the device has power because the charger is working on my laptop.
Any ideas? I have tried restarting the computer but that doesn't work.

You can't connect a non-Thunderbolt display or adapter directly to the port on the back of a Thunderbolt display. It will work if you connect a Thunderbolt disk drive (with two Thunderbolt ports) between the two displays.

Some basics please, what vintage is your MBP, have you plugged anything else into the wall socket to verify that it is live? which light doesn't turn on, the charger or the MBP?
Hold the power button down for 15 seconds, wait for 2 then press it normally and see te MBP it turns on

Program folder? In general backing up and restoring application folders is not going to work. Windows programs should be installed using the appropriate installation programs.

Could you see whether Firefox will start in its Safe Mode? That's a standard diagnostic tool to deactivate extensions and some advanced features of Firefox. More info: [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode]].
Here's how:
With Firefox closed, hold down the Shift key while starting Firefox.
A small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (''not'' Reset).

the mute button is a switch you need to flip, not touch. if you look at it and see color, its on.

If it is good in the Firefox SafeMode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one.

Glad I helped a little... With the computer issues your having I'm out of my depth. Is you library backed up in the cloud or on an other hard drive? Try to backup and restore you device in itunes...restoring the device is like removing the iOS software off the device and re-add in a newer software, after you have restore you device, MAKE SURE YOU SET UP YOUR DEVICE LIKE A NEW DEVICE, DONT NOT RESTORE FROM BACKUP!!... give the device a chance to use the newer software and see if the issue still persisting, if the issue still on going then its would be a hardware issue.
Call Apple Care and see if your device is still under warranty to get it replace

When i try to launch itunes nothing happens?

I just updated to the latest software version 10.5 i beleive it said. and now when I try to open itunes nothing happens,no prompt no warning,absoulty nothing. does any one have any idea whats going on? this is a brandnew laptop it has worked upuntil the update. i am running windows 7 if that helps.Thank you all.

Try following steps and test out one at a time:
1. Restart computer, right mouse click iTunes icon and select "Run As Administrator"
2. If that does not work, check to see if this file APSDaemon.exe is the problem here.
Close your iTunes.
Press Ctrl-Alt-Del key and choose Task Manager. In the "Processes" Tab, select the file APSDaemon.exe and click End Prosses button, then close the task manager window.
Now open itunes and see if it is working?
If that works, to prevent having to do the same process everytime you restart Windows, go to. START button, type in
MSCONFIG
Hit ENTER
Click STARTUP Tab, Uncheck "Apple Push", click OK.
Restart Windows.
3. If that fails or you don't see ApsDaemon.exe in the Processes, refer to following article to remove SC files:

4. If that fails, repair your Quicktime. START / CONTROL PANEL / PROGRAMS N FEATURES / hightlight QUICKTIME and click REPAIR.

I receive a confirm dialog box, when clicking on "stay on page" nothing happens

I receive a notice that says "stay on page or leave page". When I click on either button nothing happens, then the page locks up and I have to shut down by pressing the power button as nothing will work and restart my computer a Mac Pro new 2012.

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox without informing you about that, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox.

Hi, Thanks for responding. Most downloads you can double click and/or drag over to applications for it to actually install however this one you can't. It just acts like an empty folder and does nothing. I did update to Mountain Lion recently and wondered if it was incompatible or something or if I was doing anything wrong? Thanks.
