When i plug iphone 4 into computer Itunes stalls

Every time I go to try to put music or apps from my mac to my iPhone4 itunes doesn't work. It'll get a bar on the top saying "backing up iPhone" but it never backs it up. Every time i try to click on something the rainbow waiting mouse comes up and iTunes stops working. So now I am unable to get any of my music or apps on to my iPhone. What do i do?

Welcome to the discussions,
if you have any photos stored on it, copy them to your Mac and delete them on the phone afterwards before you sync, maybe some of them can't be read.
If this does not solve your problem, copy your backup folder, located here ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/ , to a save place, delete the backup in iTunes/settings/devices and try again.
