I recently had a 32gb iphone 4 I backed up the phone via cable to my pc and when I tried to sync the 16gb iphone 5 no apps synced and some other data as well there was an error message saying there is not enough room. there is plenty of room on the new phone for apps, is there any way i can access the photos and apps that are on my pc? I am mainly concerned about my photos. Do I have to buy a 32gb phone now?

I have not synced my iPhone for some months. When I plugged it into my computer the iTunes program does not launch. There is an iTunes icon installed but this only opens as a Music/video program. There is no side panel where I select my device, account, apps, etc. I have tried re-installing iTunes but there is no difference. AutoPlay opens when I plug in the iPhone offering file, picture etc sharing but nothing elso opens.

You reinstalled the Apple USB driver and everything listed there? If so, then I suggest that you follow the instructions in this support document to remove and reinstall iTunes. Follow the directions in the support document exactly. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923

I have the "original" iphone, yes it's ancient, but it still works fine. This is the first time I am having a problem.
I've updated itunes and the phone so I have the latest versions of both.
I restarted my computer and turned the phone on and off.
Any other suggestions??You need to download iTunes on your computer. iOS 6 requires the latest version of iTunes which is 10.7.

ITunes and iTuneshelper crash when I plug in my iPhone
I'm out of ideas on this problem...
Beginning yesterday, when I plug in my Iphone to sync it with iTunes, both iTunes and iTuneshelper crash, and Windows gives me the option to create a crash report. As a result I can no longer sync my iPhone with my Thinkpad.
No new software in the past several days, no other change in system stability. iTunes 9.0.3.15, iPhone OS 3.1.2, Windows XP SP3 with all updates applied.
Is there a log or dump file I can upload to help point to my problem?
Thanks in advance.

edit: I should add that when I plug in the iPhone, iTunes doesn't even get to the point of displaying its gui...it crashes on start and iTuneshelper goes with it. If I leave iTuneshelper not running and just re-run iTunes by manually starting it, it won't recognize the iPhone but doesn't crash, either, when I plug in the phone. I know iTuneshelper interfaces the phone to iTunes, so I guess something is going wrong in the iTuneshelper-iPhone exchange. This is interesting: when I attempted to re-boot into safe mode I inadvertently booted into the Thinkpad Rescue and Recovery partition. The first thing it does is check the core OS files, and it found that ws2_32.dll was corrupted. It replaced the file and I re-booted Windows in normal mode. After it finished booting I plugged in the iPhone and up came iTunes. The phone synced and I'm back in business.
I'm going to take a look at the article you just pointed to, never heard of that tool. Hopefully Windows remains stable and whatever corrupted ws2_32.dll was a one-time actor.
Thanks for your help here, you got me headed down the right path.

When I connect my new iPhone 4s to the computer, iTunes informs me that there is an update avaialble and I procceed to download only to be told that my phone has incompatible hardware so cannot be updated. Any advice please
Hi, I just re-downloaded the update, but instead of telling it to download and install, I just clicked on download only. This is a 813 mb file and I am on limited broadband usage. I did it this way thinking that I would get a chance to see the exact wording when it tried to install, however, I have no idea how to try and install the file now and when I came to click on the iphone symbol on itunes, the download diassapeared, where to I have no idea. I can't afford to download it again, and besides it takes approximately three hours to download it in any case, so all I can remember is that the error message stated that it couldn't update because the phones hardware was not compatible.

New iphone not showing up in itunes?
Okay, so my computer is apparently having a problem. I've had an iphone with itunes since November. It went on the fritz the other day so I was told by an apple rep to uninstall itunes and install the newest version. This didn't work so I had to go to the apple store, and they gave me a brand new iphone. Soooo, now when I plug this new iphone into itunes (v. 7.6.1.9) it doesn't even show up in itunes. However, I do get a message in itunes saying "An iPhone has been detected, but it could not be identified properly. Please disconnect and reconnect the iPhone, then try again." What gives? This is a brand new phone that they activated at the apple store. ALSO, when I plug it into a friends itunes (older version) it shows up with no problems. Is it some bug with the newest version of itunes possibly? Any suggestions?
Thanks,
RobertMy first assumption from the details you have given...your USB port is on the fritz.
Did you try all ports?
Or, did you use your cable or your friends cable when tried on his machine. If not yours, then could also be your cable.
