- Make sue the plug is fully inserted in the jack
- Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so.
Try the following to rule out a software problem
- Reset the iPad. Nothing will be lost

least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup
- Restore to factory settings/new iPad.
- Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Seems you have a bad headphone jack.

- Sure sounds like the headphone jack is defective and requires replacement. Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack first.

It sounds like you are trying to use an external monitor with your Mac Mini but cannot get more than a gray screen. You can use the following steps to help troubleshoot the Mac side of things here:
Apple computers: Troubleshooting issues with video on internal or external displays

Remove all display cable extenders, KVM switches, or other like devices and retest to determine if the issue is resolved.
Try unplugging the video adapter or cable and then plug it back in.
If more than one video adapter is in use (or "daisy-chained"), troubleshoot by using only one adapter.
Example: A mini DisplayPort to DVI adapter connected to a DVI to HDMI adapter is an unsupported configuration because there is a series of adapters in use.
If available, try using a different display and or adapter (or use a different connector by using DVI instead of VGA, for instance).
Reset the system
You can reset the Mac's parameter RAM and SMC.
Reset the resolution
Start by resetting the Mac's parameter RAM. If the display does not come up, was previously set to an unsupported resolution, and still results in no video:
Start up in Safe Mode.

Select any resolution and refresh rate that your display supports.

I own a X-Fi Xtrem audio (PCI version) and Windows 7 and I have a little problem.
I recently put back my sound card in my pc (I stored it few month, the last time I used it, it worked well).
Here is the problem : When I plug a earphone in front of the case, I can hear that the speaker's sound is decreasing a little, so there is a hardware detection, but normally the sound of my speaker should stop completely... (with on chip audio device, it's ok)
Did you ever heard of this sort of issue?
I guess there is a component on my sound card that doesn't make is whole work.
I bought my X-Fi in 11/27/2010, guess it is not under "builder" guarantee anymore?

The Device Manager lists it as an Unknown Device. I've tried uninstalling iTunes and reinstalling it, but it had no affect. The odd thing is that our other iPod (160 GB Classic) is recognized on the same computer using the same USB cable. When I plug the ipod in question into another PC, the PC seems to recognize the iPod and lists it in Windows Explorer (iTunes is not installed on this machine). There seems to be something out of wack with this PC/iPod combo. Any thoughts on what I can do to try to resolve this issue? Are you plugging the iPod into a high powered USB 2.0 port on the back of your PC? Have you tried a different USB cable?
What happens if you try to reset the device with it still connected to the PC?

that is odd! that should not be happening.
Are you syncing your songs right off of itunes itself? because it should be syncing over to the ipod however it is listed in itunes.

Your iPhone is in recoverty mode at the moment so to possibly get it back up and running you would need to do a restore as you have been trying. Follow the steps in the article below for the specific error messages you have been receiving. Sounds like your phone is in recovery mode. In this case, all data on it is gone. There's nothing to back up.

Your iPod is designed to sync with only one iTunes library at a time. It will recognize the iTunes library on the PC as a new library. If you sync the iPod with this new library, all content will be erased from the iPod and replaced with what is in the new library. So what you will want to do is copy everything from the iPod to your new iTunes library on your PC first.

from the information you provided i can't tell if it is a hardware problem or a software problem. I do have an idea though, try to press your home button and lock button at the same time.
