When I press Next it skips 3 songs

I have an iPod Nano 4GB Version 1.3.1.
Recently, whenever I press the Next button, it skips ahead 3 songs.
I wonder if it's just getting old, because if I also need to press the Back button a little harder than normal to get it to respond. Also, oftentimes, my volume control glitches out where it jumps volume levels up or down when I'm trying to control the volume, and I have to restart my iPod for it to go back to normal. So yeah maybe it's getting old.
But the skipping problem is the one I really care about.

Nothing happens when I press play with a mp3 song loaded

I just purchased Audition Au. The first three songs played just fine. Now when I load a mp3 song and push play nothing happens.

This almost certainly has nothing to do with it being an MP3, which will decode into a wav file in Audition anyway. When the transport fails, the only thing that causes this is that your sound device has disconnected itself. So you need to go into the preferences section's hardware page and find out what's wrong.

What should I do if my music won't play? When I press it it shows the song and then goes back to the menu.

Try to Reset your device.
Press and hold both the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears (ignore the Slide to Power Off that shows up first).

This is a known issue and at this time there is no fix. The workaround is to disable iTM on the iOS device and sync the mismatched songs via USB/Thunderbolt then re-enable iTM. This way you will be assured of having the "correct" version of the track on your device.

I'm afraid I don't understand what you mean. Do you mean you have music stored on your iPod Classic that is not also in your iTunes library? If that is the case, then of course those songs won't be matched or uploaded. A song must be in your iTunes library for it to be processed by the iTunes Match service.

Good luck. I tried to do this to cue sound effects for a theater, and never found anything. iTunes will definitely *not* do this, nor was I able to find any player that would play one song at a time in a single playlist.
In my case, I ended up using AutoHotkey to tie individual tracks to the keys on an external keypad. This was an excellent solution for my problem, but I don't think AHK runs on Macs.
One workaround is to make a folder, and fill it with *shortcuts* to the songs you want (ie, the actual files). You can change the names to start with numbers to get them in the right order. Then if you double-click on one it will play just that song. You'll still have to double-click on each song.
Might be a good time to learn AppleScript It would also be pretty easy to write a Java app to do this.

TS1424 some albums when downloaded only play partial parts of songs then skips to the next song how do i fix this?

i downloaded Korn the path of totality and the first 4 songs work the next 4-5 just plays 10-12 seconds of the song then skips to the next the last 4 songs seems to work. Also i downloaded Tyga- carless world and each song shows up twice on my iphone and it only plays a couple of the songs, it wont play some and skips to others ones it seems random, but it plays fine on my itunes on my computer.

Other people have been having similar problems with songs over a number of days.
Depending upon what country that you are in (music can't be re-downloaded in all countries) then try deleting the incomplete tracks from your iTunes library and redownload them via the Purchased link under Quick Links on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page on your computer's iTunes : re-downloading.
If you aren't in a country where you can re-download music or if they re-download in the same state then try the 'report a problem' link from your purchase history : log into your account on your computer's iTunes via Store > View My Account and you should then see a Purchase History section with a 'see all' link to the right of it ; click on that and you should see a list of your purchases ; find those songs and use the 'Report a Problem' link.

My iPod hang when I skip the song in shuffle mode

I always use shuffle songs and skip to find the song I wanted. I have used it for 11 months and this month my iPod hang oftenly. I send it to apple care in Thailand. They take 4 days and call me to get my iPod back. They said "There is no problem with my iPod". After I play it in the same way for a while, it hang again.
I have called my local support. They told me that iPod is not designed to use like that. We cannot use shuffle songs and skip the song oftenly. I do not think the iPod do not support this. I used it for 11 months and have no problem. When I have the problem, they say I cannot use like this.
Is there anyone find this problem? In shuffle songs mode, using skip oftenly. I would like to double check this problem before send it to apple again.

I'm having exactly the same problem, and after upgrading to the latest iTunes Version it has gotten worse.
I'm trying to find the software to reformat the hard drive of the iPod as my suspicion is that the hard drive has errors on it, hence why the songs hang or skip to the next track.
Unfortunately I've been unable to find the utilities to reformat the drive, but I guess that Apple must have the ability to do it, or replace the drive.
Make sure you keep all communications with Apple as your iPoad should still be under 12 months warranty, and so if defective they should replace it free of charge.

When I press play on my iPod the only the thing that happens the songs cycle through the current playlist instead of playing the audio. How do I fix this?

Ever since this morning I synced my ipod to my computer all that happens is the ipod cycles through the songs in the current selected playlist. No audio or anything. All the songs that are in my song libraries and are synced to my ipod properly. I did not disconnect the cable whiile it was syncing. It has been a long time since I synced it. Why is my ipod doing this? This ipod is the current ipod classic with 160 GB. Please help

Thank you, when I meant by I haven't synced with my library in a long time. I meant the day before this morning. So I already synced it and I am not hearing any audio when I press play. Right now I am in front of a mac at my job and I have synced and ejected it from a different computer and it still isn't working. Does this have anything to do with the fact that it might have something to do with my music library at my home computer?

The procedure is Settings>Messages>Send & Receive at>You can be reached by iMessages at>Add another email address. The email address has to be a valid working email address, obviously. Apple should verify the email address and you have to go to the inbox of that email account, read the verification email from Apple and follow the inductions in the email in order to complete the verification. Then you go back to the settings, uncheck your email address and check the new email address to be used as the contact email address.
