When I press right click - Open in a new Tab on a bookmark on Firefox 4.0 nothing happens. Is this a bug? Is there a solution?

When I press right click -> Open in a new Tab on a bookmark on the "Display your bookmarks" icon that is located on the upper right corner of Firefox 4.0 nothing happens. It only works if I press right click -> Open in a new Tab on bookmarks under the menu that is located on the upper left corner. Is this a bug? Is there a solution?

Why does right-click & "Open Link in New Tab" make the original tab name to change to "New Tab" when I back-arrow in the original tab to reach the original page

I use Google as my home page.
When I do a search in Google I have a practice of opening the search links in a new tab by right-clicking on the link and selecting "Open Link in New Tab". That way I can examine multiple links from the search page, which is now open in the first tab.
The problem that occurs is that when I use the back-arrow in the Navagation bar to return the first tab to its original page, I find the tab name of the original page to be "New Tab" rather than "Google" and I have to click on the "Reload current page" in the Navigation bar to return the tab name to "Google".
I'm using Firefox-25 on a Linux-Mint 64-bit platform with KDE-4.9.5.

The problem is just with the name of the tab, not with the contents of the page -- the page looks normal??
I ask about the page because Firefox 23 seems to have introduced a problem with Firefox's "fast back-forward cache" on the Google search results page. It is related to the "instant prediction results" feature interacting with Firefox is some different way. Right-clicking Open Link in New Tab or Window doesn't work

After upgrading to the latest version, 30.0, the right-click functions to Open link in New Tab or New Window stopped working. When I click the link that I would like to open in new tab or window, the right click window appears, I click on the desired function, and the right click window closes and nothing happens.
I restarted in safe mode and the problem remains. I am using Windows XP. I also tried uninstalling Firefox and then doing a clean re-install and that didn't help.
For now I went back to using version 29.0.1. Yes, I know that it isn't as safe but I can't use Version 30. without the right-click options!!!
I really wish the developers would focus on fixing bugs, vulnerabilities, etc. and leave the basic functions alone! The old saying if it isn't broken don't "fix" it!!!!!

This didn't fix the problem so I have decided to revert to the previous version: 24.6.0 esr. Maybe when version 31 or 32 come around I come back to the "latest" version?

Right click "Open Link in New Tab" not working?

When at any website I try to right click on a link and then choose "open link in new tab" and nothing happens. "open link in new window" also does nothing. When first open up Firefox and right click on a link a really long list of options appears as well which did not appear yesterday. I think Firefox updated and restarted my computer last night as well. I tried Firefox safe mode and it still happened.

Right click, open Link in New Tab stopped working

Right clicking on a link in page and selecting either open link in new tab or window does NOT work. Nothing hapens. Just started the other day. Also cannot use Ctrl and right click. Works in Chrome. Right click and paste, etc work.

Try a clean reinstall and delete the Firefox program folder before reinstalling a fresh copy of Firefox.
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.

Uninstall your current Firefox version, if possible, to cleanup the Windows registry and settings in security software.
*Do NOT remove personal data when you uninstall your current Firefox version, because all profile folders will be removed and you will also lose your personal data like bookmarks and passwords from profiles of other Firefox versions.
Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
*It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.

Right click 'Open link in new tab/window' help

Hi, since I updated my Safari to 6.1 last night (running on Lion) the right click options for "Open new link in tab..." have swapped around and it's only a small thing but it's already annoying me, anyway to swap them back around so 'open in new window' is the first option again instead of '... in new tab'? I've been opening new windows in tabs all night unknowningly.

Firefox bug when clicking "open link in new tab" or mouse wheel

I am starting to get this bug for a last few days.
When I am trying to click "Open link in new tab" or, as usual using mouse wheel click, inside a Firefox window I got this for a couple of seconds before page shows up.

hello Bubunya, maybe that's an issue with hardware acceleration - please try [[Upgrade your graphics drivers to use hardware acceleration and WebGL|updating your graphics driver]], or in case this doesn't solve the issue or there is no new version available at the moment, disable hardware acceleration in the firefox ''menu ≡ > options > advanced > general'' (that setting will take a restart of the browser to take effect).

When a pop-up is opened in a new tab, do NOT switch to it immediately

I have changed value of browser.link.open_newwindow.restriction from 2 to 0. Now pop-ups open in a new tab instead of new window, which is cool.
But still firefox immediately switches to the pop-up that gets opened in a new tab.
I want to have firefox in a way that, when a pop-up gets opened in a new tab, do NOT switch to it immediately.
Note: The option "When I open a link in a new tab, switch to it immediately" in menu Options->Tabs, is already unchecked.

Tabs opening as new windows even when I click open in a new tab

All of a sudden links that normally opened as new tabs are now opening as new windows. Even when I specifically say open as a new tab it still opens as a new window. I have checked the settings in the tab option so it should be opening them as new tabs. it is highly frustrating!

I can only open up one window with multiple tabs; right click "open in a new window" does not work. I uninstalled Firefox and reinstalled Firefox with same results.

Just bought a new i5 laptop and am transferring files, etc onto new box. Last night I had two separate Firefox windows up. I downloaded Nexus Ultimate late and rebooted this morning. I had to restart Firefox then, and it did not save my settings/tabs as I prompted it to do when it shut down to reboot.
I uninstalled Nexus and wasted many hours trying to resolve this, including two failed system restores (looks like Nexus is a dirty little bugger) Windows Explorer will open up multiple windows. Firefox will not. Help.

Once open, Firefox locks the Profile that is in use and you can not open another window with that Firefox version and Profile combination using the Windows Desktop icon or the Windows Programs list.

I have been having this problem with Firefox 3.6 for the last several updates. I'm currently using FF 3.6.17.
I think the problem showed up with 3.6.14.
I know for sure that I had it with 3.6.15 because I hoped that 3.6.16 would fix it.

Uninstall the Ask toolbar and it should work again. There is a compatibility issue with the Ask toolbar and Firefox that prevents new tabs from being opened.
There are a couple of places to check for the Ask toolbar:

FireFox current tab loses scrolling when a .PDF file is opened in a new tab through a hyperlink

I have a problem in FF 4.0 and even in the previous versions wherein when I open an .PDF file (in a new tab) from a link, the current tab loses scrolling until I switch over to the newly opened tab. Kindly address this issue.

Have you checked to see if your PDF add-on is up to date? You should take a look at the [[Opening PDF files within Firefox]] Knowledge Base article. There is a lot of good information in there. You should try both of the suggested PDF add-ons to see if that fixes the issue.

Thunderbird won't open in an new tab, but it starts the firefox browser again. I have no idea what happened but some days ago it opened link's in an other tab.

Some day's ago without any reason something changed.
Normally when i click on a link in the thunderbird messege there opened a new tab in firefox, but now firefox starts again.
Is there someone who can tell me how to change this.

Thunderbird did it's part. it handed the URL to Firefox.
