When I print from an app, all I get is a solid black piece of paper.

When I use my iPad to print a document from email or safari to my wireless printer it works. But, when I try to print from an app (like my 4-year old's Jake's Pirate School) all we get is a sheet of completely black paper.
Any ideas?

Turns out this is an overall problem....any PDF I try to download on line turns up the same plain black page. Doesn't matter whether it is what I tried to download mentioned above, or if it's the latest power bill from our utility company. An UGLY black screen!! I have it set up that downloaded PDF documents should open in Preview.
On the other hand, any PDF documents in my computer files open with no problem.
Prior to installing Lion, most of my activity lately has been converting AppleWorks documents to Pages and, if that doesn't work, I convert to PDF. Other than that, I haven't been fooling around with any settings.
Once again, I appreciate your input....any other suggestions?

You reset the entire Profile, rather than only the printer prefs as I advised.
That being said, resetting the entire Profile shouldn't have affected your bookmarks in any manner. Could it be that your Bookmarks Toolbar is just hidden from view? ''Firefox button > Options = is the Bookmarks Toolbar check-marked?
Or is the Bookmarks Toolbar present, but has no Bookmarks on it?

Upgrade to tiger, can't print from any app

Hi All
I normally fix my own problems, but this has me stumped.
I've upgraded to tiger and done a software update to 10.4.7.
Now I can't print from any app.
I've done the "reset printing system" but this hasn't worked.
All my printers are ethernet networked, no USB.
At this time of writing, I have just managed to print from indesing CS2, but nothing else, mail, textedit, acrobat, none of them work...
...Don't suppose anyone has any ideas?
PS, when I attempt to print, my app is quit and I have to relaunch.

I had the same problem when I upgraded to Tiger. I have a HP PSC 2175 All-in-one printer. I solved my problem by uninstalling the HP printer software, emptying the trash, restarting, and reinstalling the HP printer software. I also installed the lastest HP printer driver, which I downloaded from the HP website.
I repaired permissions after doing all that, and now everything seems to print fine.
I suspect the same steps might work for other printers, as well.

Macfixit also has a tutorial for troubleshooting printer problems. I have not tried any of the solutions which involve downloading troubleshooting software. Maybe someone else here can say whether the software mentioned in the article works well or not. How do I get print n share to work after upgrade to iOS 5. I can print from the app thru wifi and PC. However am unable to print mail, web pages, etc..
In mail when I try to print it just says can,t find air printers. It used to say print with print n share.

I sent e-mail to developer regarding this and they said that basically Apple has denied them access to the Airprint dialog in the new source code for iOS 5. So, the only way to print to pdf is to capture the e-mail or webpage in the internal apps within Print n Share. INHO, this really *****. Apple should make printing to pdf files just a standard feature of all their apps. If they don't do this, they are going to lose alot of business to the Adroid world as pdf file format is the business standard for all documents.

HP Laserjet 1018-script error message when I print from web sites

I have a HP Laserjet 1018. When I print from Microsoft products, it prints fine. However, when I try to print from a web site, it gives me an error message stating that there is a script error.

In the printer driver (accessed through the Page Setup button) set the Advanced tab to borderless. Then in the right hand panel under Layout set all the margins to zero.

When you print from an ipad, can you print to the 8x11 tray?

My grandfather has an ipad and an hp photosmart printer. When we print from a computer, it goes straight to the 8x11 tray and prints on normal sized paper. When we print from the ipad it goes straight to the photo tray and prints on photo paper. I know that for iOS, airprint doesn't support tray selection and just prints to whatever tray 1 is. Is there a way to change it on the printer so that the 8x11 tray reads as tray 1 and we can print from the ipad to the regular printer paper? We've tried just removing the photo tray, and that doesn't work.

Well luckily you dont have to go changing any settings to default specific trays to different settings. Just download the HP Home and Biz app from the app store for free. It has the ability to set the paper size used

After update to iOS 8.1 iPad will not print from photo app to air print printer. Tried turning both on and off but nothing works. Can print from Safari. When printing from photos app message comes up printer needs paper which it does not. Anyone else?

When i print from the web pictures are black and white not color

Having trouble with printing from web the pictures are not color on;y black and white. Ink levels are fine and I have run cleaning and aligning tools. What other solutions am I missing?

I have tried 100%, AutoZoom, Page width,page fit and actual size and they are all the same size. About 2/3s the size it should be. My printer is set correctly
and I also reset the printer in msconfig as suggested by another helper. It changed to default and this has not helped. Do I need to reset the msconfig file back to user?
