When I print it always defaults to external modem

The print & fax preference says default to the last printer used. Yet when I print from Pages, and Pages alone, it goes to external modem. Every single time I have to change it to my printer. Yes, at some point in the past I did print to the external modem from Pages but it has been a while. How can I get it to default to my printer? It never sticks. I have tried deleting the Pages preferences but it does not fix this.

Yup, I'm having a similar problem. I have two printers: my default printer is set to "last printer used", but using Pages it ALWAYS goes to my Epson C1100. Even when I change the page setup to Format for my Docuprint printer, and then save, it reverts to being set up for the C1100 when I reopen it. I have to change the set up every single time I need to print a document on my Docuprint. It's making Pages unusable - I might have to go back to Word.
And you're right - changing it on the templates doesn't work - because the next time I open a document, template or normal, the Format For setting has changed again.

  • When using "Print Report" my default printer changes.

    Hello,
I have the need to print two different kinds of reports to two different printers depending on which report it is.  I use the Office toolkit and wire the correct printer for the report using the "Print Report" tool.  However, each time I do this, it changes the default printer in Windows to the printer wired.  I don't want to change the default printer just send the report to the specified printer.  Is there a work around?

    Hi The Q,
a workaround could be to read first which the default printer is, then print your page with the printer you want and then reset the stored printer to default. The information which printer is the default printer can be read from the registry.
    Hope this helps.

  • PSE 8 always uses landscape as printer orientation by default?

    Windows 7x64.
I have a number of multi-page docs created in PSE. No matter what printer I select, and despite them being in a standard portrait size/orientation, the print options ALWAYS default to landscape. I've checked the actual printer under "printers and devices", and the actual settings there are portrait.
This is worse because I must actually use the print options dialog box to move manually through EACH PAGE of the document to be printed, and set the printer options to "portrait" on every page. If I fail to do even one page, the entire document is printed landscape, cutting of page contents.
The preview shows each page is indeed landscape until I do this procedure, at which time it flips the page to portrait, one at a time.
Doesn't matter what printer is used.
Also, once printed, if I immediate open the print dialog again, same printer and everything, once again it has landscape.
There seems to be no memory whatsoever for orientation (other settings, like resolution, are maintained during the run on PSE, but are always lost when PSE is closed). Again, in particular, orientation for every page, individually, on each print attempt, is always set to landscape, no matter that the document is not in that orientation.
Is there even a way to specify document orientation? Is there something PSE does to attempt to determine orientation that might be wrong? Can I make PSE remember printer settings, or at least use the system defaults for the printer?

Tried that (remember, I have PSE8, and the post you referred to is PSE11).
Anyway, started app, used ctrl-alt-shift, held down while clicking organize. Waited for organizer to start. Then started PSE, loaded last file, clicked on print.
    Annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnd....
Preview is still in landscape mode.
So nope, no benefit. In fact, I can open the print dialog, change to portrait (and the preview does change), close it, reopen it immediate... landscape again.
So, I figured out that in addition to PSE 8, I still also had PSE 7 installed. I'd assumed that installing 8 would upgrade, or uninstall, the prior version, but both are there. So I uninstalled 7.
I noticed that the 7.0 settings directory, well hidden under AppData, still existed, and had several DAT and a settings file, which I moved elsewhere, with no change.
So I did find wher 8.0 keeps its preferences:
    C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\8.0\Editor
File is Adobe Photoshop Elements 8 Prefs.psp
This is an encoded file, so it can't be directly edited. I renamed the extension so the program wouldn't find it, and fired up the editor. Predictably, a new prefs file was created, and was smaller than the original (166KB vs 176KB). So one would guess this contains default settings.
I then tried the same print experiment. Sadly, absolutely every symptom was identical.
So here's what I think is really happening. This has nothing to do with settings or printers. I think PSE tries to guess the orientation from the size of the page/image/whatever. I created these pages from scanned images, and they are not EXACTLY a standard size. They are clearly portrait (size is 8.25" by 10.667" - very, very close to the 8.5 x 11 standard page size, and very, very obviously portrait).
To test the theory, I resized the first page of the 6 page document to exactly 8.5 x 11 inches. (But note: the proportions I had were identical to the proportions of 8.5 x 11). But no joy - still portrait when printing. I verified the printers themselves had system defaults for portrait, which they did.
Now my theory was that the print orientation had been set when I created the document at not-quite-exactly 8.5x11.

  • My windows default printer is an HP 2015, but when I print anything from Firefox it defaults to Adobe. Can I fix this?

When I try to print from Firefox, the Adobe PDF printer is pre-selected in the printer dialog box, even though my default windows printer is a laser jet.
Both printers work just fine, but changing printers every time is a nuisance.
This happens whenever I print anything on Firefox, including emails.

Sorry, Firefox doesn't use the Windows "default printer" as the default printer, but rather it uses the last used printer as the "default". That doesn't always happen when the printer involved goes into stand-by and is "offline", from what I have seen on my small LAN.
Just one of the hundreds of print related Bugs or nuisances in Firefox that I doubt will ever be fixed, until they write all new code for printing

  • When printing a list in Address Book, how can I select more than the default Attributes and keep them selected when I print again? I want to print ALL information for contacts so I have email address, notes, phone, company, title, etc all on one page.

When printing a list in Address Book, how can I select more than the default Attributes and keep them selected when I print again? I want to print ALL information for contacts so I have email address, notes, phone, company, title, etc all on one page. I don't want to have to check off an additional 5 or 6 attributes each time I print out contact information. Is there a way to change the default setting for printing lists, so it is not just "phone," "photo," and "job title?"

I have a user who wants to do this same thing. I did not find any way either to default the attributes to anything other than what you see the first time. Seems like such a trivial thing, hard to believe they do not allow it. I did find a program for this called iDress but I can't seem to download it from any links on the Internet. Not sure if it is free or not, but it was recommended by a link on the Mac support site.

  • When I print business cards, they sometimes print 1/4 too high but not always.

I have my business cards in a Word document using an Avery template. I have used the same file for years. I never had a problem with my Canon printer but after buying an HP Photosmart D110 I have had nothing but problems. When I print then they print about 1/4 inch too high ruining the cardstock and wasting ink. This doesn't happen all the time. Sometimes I print and they are perfect but when I go back and print another, the problem returns. This is the same card stock I have used for years and when it is inserted in the printer it doesn't matter if it is a single page or a stack of them. I have tried previewing the page before printing and the alignment is correct. I've tried printing to a PDF and then printing the PDF, same problem. I try it on the Canon and no problem. Only reason I bought this in the first place was the cartridges were cheaper and I do a lot of color printing and scanning!  I have just replaced the cartridges and did a head alignment so that is not the problem. I have tried it with regular paper and the problem persists. I'm ready to drop kick this thing and buy another Canon!
    This question was solved.

Did you ever find a solution for this problem? I have no problem printing the business cards out on a Canon printer, or a different HP printer I used to have, but the D110 is nothing but a pain in the you know what !  I'm using publisher and the avery 8371 card stock,  I searched solutions for days and did everything possible but still they're not printing correctly!! I'm dissapointed in this printer, every time I have a problem with something it always seems to be an HP product!!!  Very frustrating because I never had to mess with any settings in the other printers I had, I would just put the file in, change the quality and click the print button with no problems. I'm ready to throw this printer out the window Anyway thanks in advance and I hope somebody can help me with this issue !!!

  • Will I always get color discrepancies when lab printing images softproofed on a 75% on AdobeRGB monitor?

    Hi,
I am struggling to get  printed output from a professional printing service to match what I see when I softproof on my monitor. The printed image always looks considerably more green and warm, although whites are ok. Blue skies tend to get warm greenish. The printed image often looks like a warm instagram filter had been applied.
I have two (different generation) Dell U2412M monitors (Dell U2412M = Standard gamut = 71% NTSC, 74.3% Adobe RGB, 95.8% sRGB).
These are the steps I have taken to try to achieve color consistency between monitor and print:
I have calibrated and profiled with a Spyder 3 Express using BasICColor Display 5 software, previously also used the Datacolor software that came with the calibrator. After this, what I see on my monitor "looks normal" (skin tones, landscapes etc.)
I shoot RAW with a Sony NEX6, develop in Lightroom 4 using ProPhoto 16 bit color space.
I softproof in Lightroom using an ICC file provided by the printing service.
I use Lightroom to print to file tagging it with AdobeRGB profile. Either as TIFF or as JPG 100%.
I print with the direction to the printer to "not make any auto corrections to my file".
    I have Windows 7 64bit.
I thought this would mean that I would get - probably not perfect - but at least a very strong match between softproof and printed image.  But I do not.
Are these rather strong color discrepancies to be expected given my hardware?
Is my Spyder broken (it's out of warranty)?
    Or is my workflow erroneous?

Could be the calibration targets (how you asked to celibate white point etc). Could be the output. Could be the ICC Profile. Could be your file. You have to decide which is which.
Start here: Why Are My Prints Too Dark
Then download a good color reference file like this one: http://www.digitaldog.net/files/2014PrinterTestFileFlat.tif.zip
Soft proof and see if any green or odd color cast appear. If so, probably the  profile but use it and have a print made. The output should look good (neutral in neutrals, reds that don't appear yellowish etc).
Generally speaking, if you send Adobe RGB (1998) and the other side assumes it is sRGB, you will end up with desaturated colors. This isn't the fault of Adobe RGB but rather assuming that data is sRGB which it isn't.

  • How do I get Adobe Reader XI to default to Auto Portrait/landscape when I print?

How do I get Adobe Reader XI to default to Auto Portrait/landscape when I print?

I too am looking into this issue for someone at my work and hoping someone can provide a resolution for this nuisance.
It is correct that that Auto Portrait/Landscape is usually set to default for Adobe Reader XI. One day, Portrait was randomly switched as the default setting. Granted the setting could be set back to Auto on a per file basis, this slowed down the time to mass print several landscape reports.  The problem only occurred under one Windows account profile while other user accounts defaulted to Auto as expected. Uninstalling the software, clearing out all Adobe traces from Programs/Program Data/Application Data/Registry, and reinstalling the software did not make any difference. All printer preferences/configurations were the same amongst the different user accounts.
While it would sound like rebuilding that one person's profile would be the final solution, it wouldn't be ideal to reconfigure the several remote connections with banks and hospitals (we're an anesthesia billing company) on a new profile for what might be a simple, yet elusive fix to this print setting. I have noticed other posts on other sites mention this issue, but no resolutions have been provided yet. I'm sure part of what makes this difficult to resolve is the inability to replicate this issue elsewhere.

I fixed it!!! Following advice from similar posts, I searched the hard drive for "sessionrestore.js" in my Firefox Profiles folder (you'll need to enable viewing of hidden files in Windows Explorer (Tools > Folder Options > View (then select Hidden files option) then Apply to all folders) to do this). I then shut down Firefox, deleted the file and restarted - my home page was correct and it didn't try to open my old session! Some other posts suggested deleting everything called "sessionrestore" in that folder, but I didn't need to.

  • When I print a PDF it always prints as a booklet, how can I print 1 full page?

When I print a PDF it always prints as a booklet, how do I print a full page?

In the Print dialog box you should be able to indicate which page you want to print and that page will print.  For instance, if you are viewing page 4, in the Print dialog, select "current page" and page 4 prints. This won't work if your page is actually a 2-page spread.  What size is the booklet?

When using iCloud Calendar, I am unable to change the color of my work calendar. I have successfully followed the instructions to reset the colors of other calendars as desired. However, this one calendar always defaults to purple.  Help!

File>New Calendar to create a new calendar (Groups are for grouping calendars and I should ignore them). When you've created the calendar, control-click on it in the sidebar and choose 'Get Info' There you can select a colour. You can have as many calendars as you like. When you create a new event you can select the calendar it belongs to, and hence the colour it has.

  • When I print, while using Firefox, it always prints much smaller, why?

I have an Epson Workforce 500 printer. If I print something from a website while using Internet Explorer, it simply prints to the size of my letter sized paper. When I print the same thing using Firefox, it always prints a greatly reduced in size, document. If I try to go to print properties and make it print larger, it still comes out the same way. How can I work around this issue? I really don't want to resort to using I.E. But this morning, as an example, while on the AirCanada site, I tried to print my Boarding Pass 3 times and it came out in miniature,
Please help me solve this problem. Thanks, Paul Hultslander

It did NOT solve the issue. In fact, when I went to File>Page layout, etc. it did not give me a choice of Scale 100%. All I could do was set it to letter size paper (which it already was). I also put 100% on my printer options and it is still reducing the printed piece.

  • Timeframe always defaults to '3' even when other value on screen variant

    Hi there
I have created a screen variant and transaction variant for transaction BBPSC04 to change the "Timeframe" (GS_SEARCH_FIELD-SELECTION_DATE) field value to '4' and the "Including Completed Shopping Carts" (GS_SEARCH_FIELD-WITH_CLOSED) field value to 'X' using transaction SHD0. On tcode SHD0 the 'Content' field indicates the new values and the 'W. content' field is selected for the fields with new values.
When I execute the transaction all the new variant values are indicated except the "Timeframe"-field. This field always defaults to '3' no matter what value you indicate in the variant.
I see some hardcode in the func grp BBP_PDH_SEARCH where this field is defaulted to value '3'.
It seems like a SAP program error. Anyone familiar with this?
    Thanks

    Hi
Which SRM version are you using ?
It seems to be a bug in the system. Please raise a customer OSS message with SAP on this.
