When I print or c+p to Word my document is shorter than it shows on Pages. Help?

I've looked all over the forums -- I tried turning comments off, checking default page size (it's on US letter) and making sure it's at 100%. When I'm typing in a document, i'll reach the end of the tenth page, for example, but when I print I will only have like 9.5 pages. I'm printing on a public computer, and I'm sure my university is using the same size of paper as anywhere else in the nation. The same thing happens if I copy and paste into Word -- suddenly I have only 9.5 pages. Makes having to reach exact document lengths a gigantic pain.
Also, I just went in to check on page size and it says 8.5 x 11, but when I look at the ruler it looks like it's only 8 x 11.
I'm on the latest Pages, fully updated, on a Macbook Pro w/ OS X 10.7.2.

In modern word processors, pages have no physical existence.
The application splits the document in logical pages according to the paper size, the margins, the header/footer settings, the fonts used …
If you want to get the same organisations of pages, insert page breaks to split pages where you want.
The drawback is that you may get an awful high blank area at the bottom of some pages
or,
if one day you use a font which is greater in Word, some pages would expand to an other page.
In both case the result will be awful.

  • When i print to adobe pdf from word the document isn't saved anywhere

I have installed the trial version of adobe acrobat xi pro so that I can print to pdf. I have successfully done this from email etc but it will not work in word. I go to print document select adobe pdf as printer and it comes up with the save window I create a file name and that file is then nowhere to be found at all. I have run search on the whole hard drive and I am choosing where I want the file as normal and it is definitely not there. Using a PC running windows 7

Did you pay attention to the path of the save window? Is it possible there is a log file instead, that likely gives information on why the PDF is not created?
Try printing to file in WORD (please pay attention to the folder when you do this). The file created is a PS file, probably with a PRN extension. Then start Distiller and open the file in Distiller. Do you get errors or is the PDF created? If a PDF is created, then it is likely that you have not enabled AcroTray that should be running in the background. What version of Acrobat are you using? There may be an issue with the version.

  • When I copy/paste text to an ipages empty document can does it only show the first page of what I copied?

When I copy/paste text to an ipages empty document can does it only show the first page of what I copied?

You want to use word processing mode. I suggest you ask your question in the Pages forum and include information about what you are copying. Off the top of my head I can't come up with any reason you'd see this in WP mode.   https://discussions.apple.com/community/iwork/pages

  • When I see something on my screen it looks OK, but when I print it some of the words are garbled

    Help!

Please read this post then provide some details.  What printer model? What operating system? What program are you printing from?  Are there any error messages on the printer or computer screen?

  • Mac OSX will not boot, when I log in, it shuts down after grey screen and grey loading bar show up: PLEASE HELP (:

So here is a lowdown on my problem.
I start my mac OSX, I hold down the alt/option key and load my MAC osx drive (which is the only drive available; however, when i do not hold down the alt/option key it will go to a black screen that says "no bootable device, press a key when device inserted").  Continuing, it then goes to my login screen where I have my username, and I can enter my password like usual.  I enter my password, hit the enter button (like I always do), and this is where my problem begins.
After I enter my login and hit enter, the screen goes grey, with a little apple symbol in the middle and a different shade of grey loading bar underneath.  This grey loading bar shows up for about 10 seconds, fills up about 10-20 percent, and then shuts my computer down.
No matter what I do, this process repeats over and over, and heres where the problem gets worse, and this part is VERY IMPORTANT and is the most depressing, stressful part of the process.
NONE of the startup/boot commands work except holding the alt/option key.  I can't hold: Command plus r; command pr  to reset PRAM; shift to enter safe mode.
I really dont know what to do here :/.  I have files that I want on the hard drive, that are pretty important but not critical.  I gave up on wanting the files back but now I want to simply WIPE my computer and re-install a clean version of OSX onto the computer, but I CANNOT GET TO THE REINSTALLER :(.
More information that may be helpful:
I do have a partition on the HDD that I was going to use for Bootcamp, but it does not have anything installed on it (thus causing the "no bootable device" screen to load, and probably causing the boot commands not to work).
My version of Mac OSX is 10.8.4. "MBP 15.4/2.8/16GB/768 flash"
The last time I restarted my computer, my mac OSX RAM was down to 1.75 GB, with nothing open.  Usually when nothing is open the free RAM is around 10-13 GB (I know this because I have the activity monitor always open, and I use my computer a lot).
Again, boot commands will not work, except for holding the alt/option key.
So if anyone can help me fix my problem(s), which are:
1: using boot commands; 2: reinstalling mac OSX; or 3: getting my files,
I would love you forever.  I would really prefer 1 or 2.  Thanks for reading this.

Oh and one more thing, I do not have a disc drive in the mac osx.  The version I have comes without one.
I am very puzzled about what to do right now.

  • Text cut of on very bottom of page when I print - Photosmart 6520; Macbook Pro

I don't know what's going on, but when I print two-sided from a word doc on my mac, the the lower half of the text at the very bottom of each page cuts off.  Can anyone help me fix this problem?  I'd really appreciate it.

    Hi bkflores32,
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums! I see when you print a 2 sided document from Word to your HP Photosmart 6520 it cuts off the lower half of text on the bottom of each page. I would first like us to make sure it is not the hardware, please print out the 2 page document as single pages, now I want you to make a 2 sided copy. Does this cut off the bottom text or does this come out with no print quality issues?
If the copy comes out fine, please let me know the following:
    1. What is your current Mac OS X?
    2. Did you recently upgrade your Mac OS X?
    3. Are all Apple updates installed and up to date?
I look forward to hearing from you.

  • Printing to PDF from Microsoft Word 2004?

    Greetings,
I'm in the process of completing my masters thesis and am in need of some assistance. The guidelines for my thesis state that title pages must have a 2-inch top margin and 1-inch bottom margin. When I print to paper from Microsoft Word, everything looks great. When I print to PDF from MS Word, the 2-inch top margin changes to 2 & 3/16-inch and the bottom margin cahnges from 1-inch to 1 & 3/8 inch. Is there a reason why this is happening and is there a way to correct this? I don't want to have to go out and purchase Abobe Acrobat Pro just to print this thesis according to the graduate school guidelines.
    Sincerely,
    JBelair

  • Word 2007 Document Recovery Pane Corrupt

We are using Word 2007 on a Windows 2003 terminal server.
When each one of our users opens word, the document recovery task pane opens with the same five documents. If you try to use the documents or delete them, it gives an error
    Error Deleting File or Folder
Cannot delete file: Cannot read form the source file or disk.
How can I get these to not show up for everyone?

    Hi,
Thank you for using Word IT Pro Discussions
    forum.
The first time that Word is started after a crash, the "Document Recovery" task pane will appear on the left side of the screen.
If you do not want these files shown in the document recovery task pane, click Start, in the Search box, type regedit and press Enter to open registry editor.
    Locate the registry subkey:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Terminal Server\Install\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Word\Resiliency
There will be a key called "document recovery". Delete everything in this key. Once everything in this key is deleted, the problem will go away.

  • When I print a Word document to a shared printer, print preview looks fine but the printed page has too much blank space at the top and doesn't print the bottom few lines.

When I print a Word for Mac document to a shared printer (that is connected to my iMac) from my Macbook Pro, print preview looks fine but the printed page has too much blank space at the top and doesn't print the bottom few lines.  I have tried to adjust the margins and the page setup settings but to no avail.  It used to print fine until recently.  Is there a way to fix it so that the printer prints what print preview shows?

I should add that when I e-mail this document to myself and print it directky from the iMac, it prints fine.

  • When I print a document with Arabic script in In Design the characters appear in an inverted form, in the opposite direction, while the printer doesn't do this with other software such as Word

When I print a document with Arabic script in In Design the characters appear in an inverted form, in the opposite direction, while the printer doesn't do this with other software such as Word

(The small field at the top of questions is to type just a title; the large field is to type your full question in, along with anything else that may help us help you.)
When you say "print", do you mean the text is correct in your InDesign file? If you export the document to a PDF, is it still correct? Final test: if you print the PDF to your printer (making sure you use the same driver and setting), is it wrong? Then it's your printer driver, trying to be smart when it should not. Locate a Settings dialog where you can switch off options such as this one. Were I a betting person, I'd tell you to look for something called "Auto-correct mirrored documents".

  • Why is it that now when I try to print a label all the words run together creating a blob of ink?

After recent updates to iTunes when I print a label for a cd cover the words all run together.  Is there a setting that I can use to help with this problem?  It's not the printer because I can print anything else without incident.

Thanks, I'll try it. Meanwhile, I called the sales guy at the store where I purchased my laptop one month ago and asked ''him''italic text'''' about it and he advised me to just download Google Chrome and skip the many updates I would have to do to Firefox and I did. I still like Firefox, but Chrome isn't bad and my videos PLAY!

  • When I print something off of the internet (not word processor), the print is tiny. What's wrong?

When I print using my word processor, the print is normal size. However, when I print anything off of the internet (through Mozilla Firefox) the print is miniaturized. I have returned my printer to its default settings, but there is no change. I don't believe the problem lies in the printer, but somehow in my internet settings. I am at wits end in trying to diagnose this issue. Please help.

The proposed cure merely changes the size on the screen. The actual prints still come out with a very large font. I agree initial post this is a ridiculous problem that has spoiled Firefox as a very credible browser. Please Help us.
