When i put mi audiphones in the ipod (80 GB) i only hear static

When i put mi audiphones in the ipod (80 GB) i only hear static, and i have to move the audiphones to hear something but it still haces that kind of static i thing it makes false contact in the input of the audiphones but i dunno.
How can i fix it

In the headphone port on you iPod try turning the little earphone plug a little untill you stop hearing static. I do that for mine.

If your iPod's headphones don't work or have static or garbled audio, try connecting them to any other 3.5 mm stereo headphone jack, like the one on your computer. If the issue with the headphones persists, replace them. For an iPod under warranty, you can order a replacement online. Otherwise, check out the cool headphones at the Apple Online Store. If the issue appears to be with the iPod, try resetting it. If that doesn't work, then restore iPod with the latest iPod software using iTunes 7 or later.

To get the iPod in recovery mode and DFU mode you first have to turn the iPod off.
Just what is the problem you are tying to resolve?
Sometimes you have to let the battery fully drain if you can't turn the iPod off. After charging for at least hour try again.

I have an ipod touch 32gb. Model: MC008BT Version: 5.1.1. 3rd ed.
Recently when clicking play on any song the ipod will shuffle through as many songs as there are in the album or playlist until it reaches the end without playing any songs. It also does not go through each song. For example:
a 62 song playlist. I start on song 16. Immediatly the song will shuffle: 16-26-54-62 and then back to the main screen. Also when the songs are shuffling the play button in the top right corner is on.
Music will play if i start from track one with shuffle turned off and repeat turned on. But then i am limited each time to 1-5 songs.
Ipod has been in excellent working order since this has happened.
any suggestions on how to fix?

Try:

It is a known issue and un-conventional remedy.
It is Hardware failure. I would get the iPhone changed for a good one.

Edit the list the comes up when you go to the Window menu and select "Previous Recipients".
