When I quit Word, my computer thinks Word crashed
I recently upgraded my operating system to Mavericks, and now when I quit out of Microsoft Word, my computer thinks Word quit unexpectedly and tries to send a "Microsoft Error Reporting" message. Any ideas on how to fix this?

While this won't help if you are having password problems, I did want to point out that you do not need to access old machines to de-authorize them. Once you are signed in at the iTunes store, access "my account" by clicking on your username in the top navigation bar. Then "manage devices". You can remove any old machines that way. -

I recently coverted to Lion. When I tried to use Word, the document I loaded hung up andI had to force Quit Word. Each time I try to open Word now, the same document comes up and I have to force quit. Any ideas?

One thing to try/check - in System Preferences, General. Check the box "Close windows..."

janerGo to System Preferences>Accounts and then select your account, then startup items, remove Word from the list and reboot, you should be fine then.

I have a brand new macbook pro 15" with latest Lion. Can anyone tell me why, when I open word or preview etc that multiple files open?For eg if I open a word doc, the last 1-3 docs that I have worked previously on all open. Can anyone tell me why?
You have a choice as to whether or not applications in Lion like Word or Preview (or even Safari) save and re-open previous documents or windows... just hold down the option key while quitting a program and when you re-open it you won't get the previous documents or windows when you re-open the application. You can see this by selecting the open program in the menu bar and when holding down the option key the quit function will change to quit and discard open windows. This feature in Lion is referred to as "Resume" and is great if you want to restart an app and return to what you're doing (for example in Safari re-opening existing windows and tabs from your previous session). You still have the option to close individual windows within an app before quitting and they will not re-open when the app is launched again.
This Resume function is not related to saving your work (a word or text document for example). This is handled by Lion's "Auto-Save" and "Versions" functions. See http://www.apple.com/ca/macosx/whats-new/auto-save.html

My computer thinks my iPad is a camera. I've done Apples trouble shooting instructions. No success. When I try to d'load and install iPad Software Update it comes up with an error message when installing, saying the network connection has timed out.
Has anyone any advice?Your computer thinking your iPad is a camera is a common problem. When I connect my iPad to my computer the computer starts a camera application and wants to download photos from the iPad. To work around this here are two suggestions:
1. Just quit the camera software that starts up and start up iTunes instead.
2. On a Mac what happens when you connect a camera is usually controlled by the Image Capture application. It's in the Application folder on your Mac. Might be in the Utilities folder inside the Applications folder. I'm not sure right now. In any case start up Image Capture and look at the preferences. There should be a choice for running an application when a camera is connected or do nothing. Change it to do nothing and save the preferences then close Image Capture. The next time you connect your iPad (or a camera) no camera or Image Capture software will run. When you do connect a camera you'll have to startup the camera software or Image Capture manually.
On a pc there might be a similar application that controls what software app runs when a camera is connected and the solution is probably similar. Sorry but I don't know much about pcs to help here.
As far as the time out problem when upgrading the iOS software, I've seen quite a few posts on this. It seems that certain firewall software in your Wi-Fi router or Mac and/or virus protection software on your Mac can interfer with the fluid download of the upgrade. The cure is to turn off firewall protection and virus protection during the upgrade process. Turn those back on when you are finished. Once you get to iOS 5 you will be able to perform future upgrades directly from the iPad via Wi-Fi and not have to connect to you computer to upgrade. -
Acrobat Pro 9.2 crops text when converting from Word 2003
When converting a Word 2003 file to PDF, using either PDF Maker or directly from Pro 9, the converted file crops a few lines of text at the top of some pages. Converting the same file by just printing to PDF is a work around, but this method does not create bookmarks, so is not preferable.
I create an updated version of a particular file monthly, using the old file as a basis. The file will always have tracked changes in Word which are all accepted before converting the file, and the file always has a watermark, which is removed in Word and the file saved before converting to PDF.
Now here's the weird thing, if I remove the watermark in Word, save the file and convert to PDF, the cropping occurs. But if I leave the watermark in the saved file, convert to PDF and remove the watermark in Acrobat, no cropping occurs! This is an OK work around too but I'd rather not have to do the workaround at all.
I've tried all the variations and settings I can think of, but I still end up working around the problem every month.

In Firefox 34, you have changed the search bar.
The new style is perfect for those who always starts by typing in, letter for letter, the search term.
People such as myself, we almost never type in the search term,
but instead we mark a [word] in a text, right-click this marked [word], then select "Search [engine x] for [word]".
Speaking for myself, I have now a total of 36 search engine providers, but I usually only use 7 of those.
I use "Wikipedia (English)" most of the time..
- but then I will switch to e.g. "AniDB" and use that one for 1 hour..
- or switch to "Google" and use that one for 30 minutes..
- or switch to "Wikipedia (Norwegian)" and use that one for 2 hours..
- or switch to "Wiktionary (English)" and use that one for 15 minutes..
..and then I will switch back to "Wikipedia (English)" again.
The way the search bar was in Firefox 33 and earlier, I could very easily switch the default search engine.
Just one click to open the drop-down menu, then choose one.
In Firefox 34, I have to choose "Tools" -> "Options", the "Search" tab..
- before I can THEN click to open the drop-down menu.
4 clicks instead of 1, that's like 400% more work..!
Also, the fact that I have to go into "Options".. make this..
..I don't know how to put it, it's a kind of psychological barrier that I have to overcome each time.
I mean, before Firefox 34, I went to the "Options" window like maybe 4 times each YEAR,
now, I have to go there 4 times each DAY..!
I am not saying you should revert to the old style Search bar,
as I feel that those you are typing search terms are indeed very happy for this new style..
Instead, I think of 2 possible ways to create happiness also for us that do mark text and choose "Search.."
1) An "on-the-fly change search engine" option ALSO for when we mark [word] in a text, then right-click, then choose "Search [engine x] for [word]".
This could work as a cascading menu option, where it says..
Search for [word] in -> [engine x]
..and where [engine x] was the current default engine, and all the other engines was listed underneath,
just like the drop-down menu when you switch the default engine.
Additionally, you could have an on / off checkbox in the "Options" "Search" tab, where you had this option:
"Change default search engine when choosing another from the drop-down menu"
THIS would actually be PERFECT.. It would be even much BETTER than in Firefox 33 and earlier..! :-)
2) If there are things with the first option that don't work (something I've missed etc),
then maybe you could have an on / off checkbox in the "Options" "Search" tab, where you had this option:
"Use old-style search bar"
This would be off by default, but when switched on, it would give us the old Firefox 33 style Search bar.Strongly recommend Context Search extension which will solve your problem

Minor Problem When Scripting MS Word
I think I'm just overlooking something obvious, but I have an AppleScript that works flawlessly--the FIRST time it's run on a file opened in Word--but the only way to run it again with another file is to quit Word and THEN open another file and run it. Otherwise I get the error message "Microsoft Word got an error: find id 365340008 of selection doesn’t understand the execute find message."
I've tried inserting "clear formatting" in several places, but it doesn't seem to cure it. Any advice would be much appreciated. Here's the script (it's basically a find/replace routine for typesetting):

Office Word reports error on Quit Word - Leopard

Recently upgraded to Leopard on 2 computers. I installed Office 2008 on both. On one computer whenever I quit Word I get the "Microsoft encountered a problem and needs to close* and asks if I want to report the error. But all I'm doing is actually quitting. This doesn't happen on the other computer. I've tried uninstalling but nothing works. Any help appreciated.Nope

My cursor has frozen on a word document - how can I unfreeze it without closing or force quitting Word? I am a writer and have multiple documents going at any one time - I think this may be partly the cause for the freeze. I would rather not force quit because there are too many documents that may have been added to that weren't saved. Im not so keen on the auto recovery process Please help!! If you click outside a Word document, is the cursor movement normal? And if you select Force Quit does the tag next to Word say "Not Responding"?
I'm afraid that the only way to get out of your predicament is to Force Quit Word. If you had auto-save on, you may or may not be able to recover some of your documents. I sometimes have up to 12 Word documents or so loaded at one time, so your problem shouldn't be put down to you having multiple documents open.
Sorry that I couldn't really help - I just don't see any way of getting out of your predicament. You MAY want to try pressing the command and period keys at the same time, but I really don't think that will stop anything.

Error when open microsoft word
I am having a problem when open existing word file. Last time in LV 6.1 working fine. then I switch to LV8, then I cant open. I upgrade to LV8.01 then the problem solve. but somehow it still give me error even in lV 8.01. when I transfer the working VI to another PC with LV8.01, still give me error. I do not know why. please advise.

Sorry I uploaded the whole llb. In fact the vi that contain error is the “open existing file.vi”in that llb and that vi has a problem. Like I posted in my screen shot, one cannot be run with broken arrow however the other one can be run on the same PC (but I noticed that the invoke node input are a bit different from one and another).
And when I transfer those vi on another PC (with same version of LV8.01) and it somehow become reverse (problem vi become no problem and no problem vi become problem). Both using office xp and window xp so I do not know what is the error. Like you say may be somehow because of the office version but I don’t get it since both PC use office xp.
