When I read my emails on my Mac why don't they show as "read" on my iPhone?

Hi.
I have to read emails twice because they dont update as "read" on my iPhone after I've already read them on my Mac.
Anyone know why?

Just to be sure we're on the same page... the email account you're using, it's not a .me or .mac account, right? It's some other service, like google mail or yahoo? If it is an iCloud account (.me or .mac), then the "read" flag should be updated automatically on all devices using that account.
And if it is some other POP account, then you can't do anything about the "read" flag.

Open Terminal in Utilties and copy/paste
This will send the attachment embedded inline. (This works in Snow Leopard, but not sure about Lion. Do a test first. If it doesn't work, just google "send attachment embedded + Lion." You don't actually have to send the message to see how it will appear.)

Did you select View->Bcc Address Field from the menu bar?

See if any of the following help.
Try turning the account off and on : Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars , then tap the account on the right, slide Mail to 'off', exit settings and go back into the Mail app, and then go back to Settings and slide Mail back to 'on'
If that doesn't work then try closing the Mail app completely : from the home screen (i.e. not with the Mail app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Mail app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
Also do a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

If you type in finder search "Migration Assistant" you should be able to restore from TimeMachine backup.

No that was not it. I was signed into my iMessages under my email address as soon as I signed out others can now receive my texts under my number. Thanks for the help though

I'm wanting to drag images from the internet into a folder on my desktop or hard drive. I am used to being able to drag just about any image from any website off the web and into a folder on my old mac, but since I got my laptop, I've noticed I cannot do that. Is it a preference?

Ralph9430 offers a good suggestion. But you may need to do this before taking his advice:
Check in iPhoto's Preferences (which you can open from the iPhoto menu). Look in General, and make sure "Connecting Camera Opens" is set to "Image Capture").
If it is set to "iPhoto", you won't be able to get to Image Capture easily.

just a suggestion: try soundflower or Audio Hijack Pro. I know with the 2nd one, you can control the bass, treble, and all that, with anything that makes sound, from itunes, to Safari, DVD player, Skype ( I guess) and other stuff. Worth the $, IMO, so in answer to your question dbumgardner1, no, no you can't. I suppose in that sense, Windows has us at a loss. We also need 2nd party stuff to play BluRay's, too. However, I haven't seen any Macintosh viruses (virii?) for a long long time....

I have updated firefox 9.0.1. when i open my yahoo email, i can see my email but contain blank. When i open my email through Internet Explorer, i don't have problem like this. I can read it.

I moved the file formhistory.sqlite to another file folder. I then started Firefox up again to see if it worked or if I needed to start it in Safe Mode. No need for Safe Mode. It now works exactly as it should. Thank you so much!!

Substitute whatever your email account's name is where it states Comcast and see if this helps. The settings would be the same on an IPad as on an iPhone.
Go into Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars>and select the Comcast account. From there look at the Outgoing Mail Server. It shoudl list the Comcast SMTP server. Touch that button and it will take you to another settings page for SMTP. It will show you the Primary SMTP server along with other SMTP servers. If the gmail server is listed there, then you can touch on it and turn it off. That should take care of it. The iPhone will try and use the SMTP server you have listed for a particular mail account, however, if that server is unavailable, it will take the next one on the SMTP list until it gets to one it can use.

When I insert a screen shot or image into the body of an email (not an attachment), why does it not show up after being sent? It works fine in other browsers.

The image will show up in the message when I am preparing it to send, but after being sent either it doesn't show at all or it comes through as a mess of characters.

Because you didn't previously set up a rescue email address, which isn't the same as an alternate email. You need to ask Apple to reset your security questions; ways of contacting them include clicking here and picking a method for your country, phoning AppleCare and asking for the Account Security team, and filling out and submitting this form.

Why don't music purchases I make from my iPhone automatically show up in iTunes on my Mac anymore?

Even though my Mac and my iPhone both use the same AppleID, music purchases from my iPhone no longer show up in iTunes anymore! When I click on "Check for available downloads" it says "All purchases have been downloaded for this AppleID". What gives?

That setting will only apply to new purchases. To redownload your past music purchases click on your name towards the top right of the iTunes screen and then click Purchased on the popup
You should (if they are still in the store) be able to redownload them from the screen that then shows.
Or on the Store tab in Preferences tick the 'show iTunes in the cloud purchases' tickbox and any music that isn't currently downloaded should show in the Music part of your library with a cloud icon against it for redownloading - click the cloud icon to download it.
Or connect your phone and do File > Devices > Transfer Purchases to copy them over from it.
