When I read my roadrunner mail on my iMac, why doesn't my Macbook Air know I read it?

I recently purchased a Macbook Air and I have an iMac desktop, both running Mavericks. How can I get my Macbook Air to realize that I've already read my e-mails on the desktop?

Is Roadrunner a POP email server? You require an iMap server for this function to work, a mail server such as iCloud and Gmail among others.
Check with Roadrunner if iMap is available.

Sounds like the drive's hardware isn't functioning correctly with Apple. You can try to copy all files to a Windows desktop and reformat the drive in OS X and see if that helps...

Niel, thanks for your response. I have been very wary of downloading Mavericks on this machine. I don't feel it has the power to run it and I'm afraid it was slow it down terribly. It was bought in late 2008. It's fine for my purposes at this time…just holding on until I buy a new one. I have the same problem others have with autofill not working, so I was trying to see if an update would help that situation. Grace

Thanks again. The option thing got me further than I've gotten thus far but when I went to choose a library I got that same message.
I do have options. I have 2 iMacs. I can still access my music through 'sharing' and download it onto my newer iMac. Trouble is it doesn't have a CD port and I like to burn. From what I've read about their new Mac portable CD/DVD drive, it's shaky at best. Incidentally, do you know of any drives that work well with Macs and cost less than $89.00?
I've figured out I can download a previous library from my old Mac then upload it from the new one which should put me back in business, but what do I do with the corrupt one that's there now, just trash it? Also, when I do the option key my other choice is Create A New Library. Should I do that and put the good previous library into it?

Why doesn't my MB Air connect automatically to my TC right when it turns on? I have my iPhoto Library stored there and I use a picture as a background but when the computer starts, the volume doesn appear to exist so therefore iPhoto doesn't find the library and doesnt show the background.

Don't apologize for your English, I am quite certain I would be far worse in your native language, whatever it is. The drive does not connect because access privileges are connected to the user that is logging on and OS X doesn't have that information until your account has fully logged on.

Under Window in the Menu bar select Connection doctor. You will see green to indicate a connection and red to show there is a problem. Except for iCloud account you'll see two entries for each account 1) receiving and 2 SMTP for sending.
If it's red, this usually means it's missing the password.
For Incoming messages, set in the account window, under Account Information tab.
For Outgoing (SMTP) messages, follow these steps:
EDIT SMTP SETTINGS
In Accounts window > Outgoing Mail Server SMTP: select to Edit SMTP Server list... from popup.
Select account in the list.(It's not uncommon to find extra SMTP servers listed. When you remove account, Mail does not delete the smtp info. You might need to do some clean up in the list to remove the extras.)
Under Advanced Tab:
Apple defaults to the default ports (25,465, 587) but some servers prefer a custom port. Check to see what port they recommend. Gmail for example likes 465, Outlook.com 587.
Verify if your server require SSL.
User Name. Enter full email address eg. [email protected]
Add password if it is blank.(If you have two step authentication setup, you'll need to get an app specific password more info)
Open Connection Doctor under Window in the Menu bar.
Do you see green light now for your account SMTP?

When i use my infocus portable projector, the trackpad on my mid 2013 macbook air completely stops working.

i have the new 2013 macbook air and like i stated above, the trackpad on the macbook completely stops working. i cant use it to navigate which forces me to use a wireless mouse to be able to navigate at all. i was wondering why this happens and if there any soulution. the projector is plugged in through usb and im not sure if that might be the problem ?

I wouldn't expect a projector to affect the trackpad like that. Possibly if you go into System Preferences -> Accessibility -> Mouse & Trackpad and uncheck Ignore trackpad when mouse or wireless trackpad is present.

All Apple MacBook Air Customers Please read.

Hi I have a few questions about the New MacBook Air. These qusetions are to help me get to know a little more about this new Apple Product.
1. How long does it take to start up.
2. Does the blue screen come up and sit for a while like 10 to 15 sec.
3. I would like to know how long until it gets hot or very warm. Doing like iTunes, Safari, Mail, iChat, Text Edit, iPhoto, iCal, Address Book, Photo booth "that one usually sets off my system", Quick TIme, Preview, and any other app you wish to add.
4. How well does boot camp run.
5. Please test the sound i herd it was louder than the MacBook. And if you have a Macbook Test the sound side by side.
6. If you have a MacBook or Macbook Pro please send me pictures of them side by side.
Note: if you don't have a place to post them please feel free to ask and i will post my E-Mail address.
The only reason I am asking is because I live where there is no Apple Stores and there are only 2 resellers who have not yet there shipment in.
So Please respond i would love to here what else you have to say as well. Even if you can't answer any of my questions at lease just respond whit some information.

Oh i forget to tell you if you go into like textedit option shift k an  than you can change the font around that will change the appearance of the apple
But since if i change the font the web server will change it back.

New MacBook Air does not read Pages properly

I migrated my old MacBook Air (2 years old) to my new MacBook Air (one month old) transferring Pages application and many documents in Pages, which I use to edit a magazine.
At first my new MBA refused to open any Pages documents, so I re-installed iWork from CD (using Remote Disc from my iMac). Now my new MBA does open Pages documents, but with disrespect for fonts:
- what was in bold appears in regular font
- what was in italics appears either in regular font or bold+italics
This is a complete disaster as it means I cannot work in the magazine when I travel with my MBA. Plus, I have already given away my old MBA to a friend!
Can anybody help?

Did you moved the folder
Macintosh HD:Library:Application Support:iWork '09:
from the old machine to the new one ?
This folder contain a lot of required items.
Without them, iWork's applications can't work.
Don't forget that the license clearly state that *_you must remove the app from the old machine_*

Why doesn't my magazine come out in reader spreads when I export it to PDF?

I have:
Mac OSX 10.6.8, Quark Xpress 8.5, Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro
The magazine is indivual pages, set up in readers spreads. I click export to PDF, makes a postscript file, then into distiller. PDF comes out in single page only. When I check two page, it doesn't recognize the pages that go together.
I used to be able to do this easily. Now I can't. What is wrong?

That would be a QuarkXPress question, not an Acrobat question. The way XPress creates the PDF determines single page vs. spreads.
If there is an XPress forum you should ask there, not here.

That would be absolute bog standard problem.

Even with older OS apple introduced some poor networking decisions at lion which have carried through.
1. Try a simple reboot of the TC.. then try a reboot of the whole network.
No luck.
2. Reset the TC to factory and redo the setup from MBA.
Use short names no spaces and pure alphanumeric names and passwords.. nothing more than 20 characters.
Use WPA2 Personal security only and password that conforms to the above.
No luck
3. Make sure the wireless is set to IPV6=Link-local only in the MBA.
Tell us if those all fail.

When I delete a message from my mini iPad why doesn't it also delete from my home computer?

I can send and receive emails on my iPad mini but if I delete a message it still remains a message on my desktop. How do I synchronise the two to make sure I can delete them remotely?

There are some e-mail accounts, for instance G-Mail, where it becomes necessary sometimes to log in to the mail account using your web browser and delete the mail from the server ('All Mail' folder, particularly) to get rid of the repeated download. Maybe your e-mail account has decided to emulate G-Mail! Or did you do any changes to your account set-up in Mail?

Have you contacted the manufacturer of the card reader?
You may just need to get a Mac compatible reader.
