When I resize an image 4-5 times it blurs automatica

Can someone please please HELP !!!
When I paste an image into Fireworks and start to resize it
using the mouse. The image starts to blur. The more and more I
resize it say 4-5 times the image becomes un clear. It seems there
is an automatic blur on the image. Never set anything. It does for
every image. If you try opening a jpg or bmp in fireworks and start
to resize it using mouse (drag window to appropriate size) you will
notice the image becomes blurry. Why is this ? Driving me nuts !!!
Please reply ASAP.
many thanks
Dean

That is exactly what everyone has been saying.
Make it smaller - you resample the image. Now those pixels
are
lost,period. So when you make it bigger there is a lot less
information
therefore the original quality is no longer there.
If you need to, play around with the size of an image until
it fits the
design by changing the size back and forth. Once you are
satisfied with
the design reimport the image one more time and ONCE make it
the right
size. Or use senocular's tip on making the image a symbol
first.
btw, at you will also get image distortion with your method
in Photoshop.

  • Why when I resize an image does it looks less sharp and poor quality?

    I've been using Photoshop since CS3 and have never had thus problem before. I used to create websites using WordPress for clients and have created many different logo images without any issues. Now however I'm doing it for muself and I'm having problems when I resize the images for web use.
    Here are a few examples. The first is a 1400x1400 image that I'm going to use for a podcast. iTunes requires this size and it looks good to my eye. When you look at the resized image however you'll see that it is not quite as sharp.
    1400x1400 http://d.pr/i/SrtJ
    300x300 http://d.pr/i/IqtI
    Logo at http://safetydad.net
    Twitter page http://twitter.com/thesafetydad
    I've tried all different things to get it to look good at any size but no mater what when the image gets resized (especially by a CMS or Twitter) it looks like crap. I've tried saving as png, jpeg, flatteing before resizing, resizing the psd, saving as jpeg then resizing, using save for web option but no matter what it doesn't look right.
    What am I doing wrong?

    When you scale down, you will lose some of the sharpness because it is removing pixels from the image, and Photoshop is trying to figure out how to remove pixels, and reassemble the edges of the image.. As a result, when some of that shading is removed, it begins to blur. Make sure when scaling down an image (image - image size) that you set the resampling to bicubic sharper. This will help to reduce the blur from the pixel removal.
    Also, you can go to filter - sharpen - unsharp mask - and work on bringing back some of the sharpness there as well.
    For your twitter logo - I would make a separate logo for it, because the text is difficult to read over it. Sorry - just my opinion there.
    You may have tried these things already - but if not - hopefully it helps
    On the other note - I think you might be hyper-critical of the changes...

  • When I resize my image it reverts to full size when I layer it?

    I'm working with a newly installed photoshop elements 12 on a Mac.  When I resize an image (for example 1" x 2") and layer it onto a blank sheet (8.5 x 11in) in reverts back to full size and covers the entire base layer.  I've tried changing the "view" to print size but it doesn't stick when I layer it.  Is there something I'm missing in the settings?  Do I need to reinstall Photoshop?

    Have a look at the following discussion:
    http://www.elementsvillage.com/forums/showthread.php?t=82355&highlight=resize
    I think what you are seeing is the result of dragging a file from the photobin to the workspace. You'll find other ways to add your layers to your project.
    Note that that behaviour has been changed in PSE13.

  • How can I use the custom new image size presets also when I resize an image

    Hi there,
    I have created some new image presets at various sizes, and I have saved these presets.
    They appear when I create a new image.
    How can I get these preset sizes to also appear when I re-size an image ?
    The presets for new images seems to be stored in a different way to the re-size image presets, as the re-size image presets are empty.
    Many thanks

  • Photoshop CS5 crashing my Mac when resizing large images

    I don't have much to explain this further but Photoshop CS5 is crashing my Mac when I resize large images.  Small images are fine but large 300dpi images crashes it without warning.  Don't know what to do.  The only other similar thing is After Effects CS5 is crashing my Mac when I trim a clip.  It completely turns off my Mac when I trim a clip.
    I have 8gigs of Ram and am running 27" iMac Core i5
    Any help would be much appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Hal

    Hi Wendy
    Thank you for your insights. We are having the same problems here.
    It's been a headache as we bought two 27" iMacs in March 2011; and we've had even BOTH iMacs exchanged.
    After exchanging, same thing happened. We then got all 16GB of RAM on each iMac replaced.
    But we noticed that the auto-shutdown problem happens with files on 300dpi. We are contemplating on changing them to 299dpi though haha!
    Unfortunately, here in Singapore, we don't have a physical Apple store. We only have Premium Resellers.
    And the other unfortunate thing is, when RAMs are upgraded these Premium Resellers sell 3rd party RAMs.
    I supposed we'll have to deal with this for now until we have enough funds to replace ALL 32 RAMs to original Apple RAMs (which will cost abt another USD1600!!) ..
    Hope this forum helps others as much as it finally helped me understand the issue we're having.

  • Resizing JPEG images

    Hey guys,
    I have the following code:
    public static void resize(String original, String resized, int size,
                                  int dimension, float factor)
                throws Exception
            if ((dimension != HEIGHT) && (dimension != WIDTH))
                dimension = WIDTH;
            try
                // get original image
                Image originalImage = new ImageIcon(original).getImage();
                Image resizedImage = null;
                int imageWidth = originalImage.getWidth(null);
                int imageHeight = originalImage.getHeight(null);
                if (dimension == WIDTH)
                    resizedImage = originalImage.getScaledInstance(
                            size, (size * imageHeight) / imageWidth,
                            Image.SCALE_SMOOTH);
                else
                    resizedImage = originalImage.getScaledInstance(
                            (size * imageWidth) / imageHeight, size,
                            Image.SCALE_SMOOTH);
                // this code ensures that all the pixels in the image are loaded
                Image temp = new ImageIcon(resizedImage).getImage();
                // create the buffered image
                BufferedImage bufferedImage = new
    BufferedImage(temp.getWidth(null),
                        temp.getHeight(null), BufferedImage.TYPE_INT_RGB);
                // copy image to buffered image
                Graphics g = bufferedImage.createGraphics();
                // clear background and paint the image
                g.setColor(Color.white);
                g.fillRect(0, 0, temp.getWidth(null), temp.getHeight(null));
                g.drawImage(temp, 0, 0, null);
                g.dispose();
                // sharpen/soften (depending on factor (-ve for sharpening, +ve
    for softening)
                float[] array = {0, factor, 0, factor, 1 - (factor * 4),
                    factor, 0, factor, 0};
                Kernel kernel = new Kernel(3, 3, array);
                ConvolveOp cOp = new ConvolveOp(kernel, ConvolveOp.EDGE_NO_OP,
    null);
                bufferedImage = cOp.filter(bufferedImage, null);
                // write the jpeg to a file
                OutputStream out = new FileOutputStream(resized);
                // encodes image as a JPEG data stream
                JPEGImageEncoder encoder = JPEGCodec.createJPEGEncoder(out);
                com.sun.image.codec.jpeg.JPEGEncodeParam param =
    encoder.getDefaultJPEGEncodeParam(bufferedImage);
                param.setQuality(0.7f, true);
                encoder.setJPEGEncodeParam(param);
                encoder.encode(bufferedImage);
            catch (Exception e)
                throw e;
        }which I use for making thumbnails and resizing images uploaded to my site. Thumbnails work fine (possibly due to the smaller size) but when I resize an image I get lots of horizontal lines across resized image.
    The funny think is that when I use this method just in a simple application, running directly under JDK 1.4.1_02 then everything works fine and images turn out fine.
    When the above code runs as a part of my web application, thumbnails work, but larger images end up with the lines across them.
    Any ideas??
    I thought it might have had something to do with the factor parameter I use so I tested it just using 0.0 and the same problem occurs.
    I run Apache 2.0.44 with Tomcat 4.1.18, which by the way also runs with JDK 1.4.1_02 so JDK is not the problem.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Cheers,
    Tom

    hey tom,
    i also use this code and also had these problems. i solved it by adding just one line after your if-else: originalImage.flush();
    else {
    resizedImage = originalImage.getScaledInstance (size * imageWidth)/imageHeight, size, Image.SCALE_SMOOTH);
    originalImage.flush();
    // this code ensures that all the pixels in the image are loaded
    Image temp = new ImageIcon(resizedImage).getImage();

    Hi, Tom.
    FYI: You've not stated which of your listed Macs is having the problem. However, the following may help in any case:
    1. Did you install Front Row using the Front Row hack on a Mac that did not ship from the factory with Front Row installed? If so, See my "Uninstalling the Front Row hack" FAQ. This has been known to cause a variety of problems, including the menu bar (Clock, Spotlight) issues you noted.
    2. If you did not install the Front Row Hack, an incompatible or corrupted Startup or Login Item may be partly to blame for the problems with the menu bar. My "Troubleshooting Startup and Login Items" FAQ can help you pin that down if such an item is causing the problem.
    3. As a general check, run the procedure specified in my "Resolving Disk, Permission, and Cache Corruption" FAQ. Perform the steps therein in the order specified.

  • Resizing of images after FCP update not working. When I try to resize, It resizes a blank transparent image.

    I am having trouble resizing images after I installed the FCP update. When I press the transform button, and then click on teh image, I go to the little blue dots on the side of the image that usually resize the image, and when I drag them out, instead of the image resizing, a black trasparent rectangle the same size as the photo expands outward to my desired size. This has happened to me before the update when trying to resize text, but the problem usually fixed itself once I clicked again on the text line in the editing section.
    Any ideas?

    Hi Russ,
    It doesn't work that way either, however it's okay because I solved the problem. Turns out I had to select 'add keyframe' on either the 'crop' or 'distort' tabs and it fixes itself. No idea why but the problem is solved! Thanks for your help anyhow.

  • Images become choppy when I resize to a smaller size

    Using Fireworks CC, when I resize images to make them smaller, the image is pixellated and choppy.  Any solution for this?

    Herbert2001, thank you for your reply.  I didn't realize Adobe stopped supporting Fireworks.  It's really weird, I've been down-scaling .jpg and .png images for years w/o problem - large images 2000 pixels down to 300 pixels and smaller and it worked beautifully.  Here is what I am getting now:
    The lines become choppy.  If it's a more complicated image, such as a house with siding, the lines become even choppier.

  • JAI runs out of heap when resizing big images, Java2D not

    Hello,
    I was doing some tests wit PMIW library (which wraps both Java2D and JAI) and it seems Java2D is much faster and doesnt eats as much memory as JAI (I have tested the native version only).
    Do you have a clue why?
    Thanks

    Correction: I have testet non-native version only (the pure-java one).
    The test was simple: resize large images (thousands of pixels in width and height).

  • When placing an image in Muse time lag

    When placing an image in Muse it takes 20 or more seconds for the folder to populate, is this a mac issue or an adobe issue?

    Hi,
    This is an expected behavior, when you place an image in InDesign then it display the preview of the image however you this has no impact on the output unless the image placed is of low-resolution itself.
    In order to have good resolution of images, you may switch to View > Display Performance > High Quality.
