When I restart computer it won't connect to wifi but never has problems otherwise
I have no wifi problems. However, when I shut down the computer and start it or restart it, it searches for wifi and then times out. I have to click on the wifi symbol, turn wifi off then back on and it immediately connects successfully. The only issue is on restart.

I have tried to reset my wifi and use different wifi systems. I am in college, so I have tried to use the internet both on campus and in my home in Dallas, neither of which worked. I JUST WANT TO HAVE INTERNET.
My computer says I am connected to wifi, but when I go to use the Internet, I am not connected.
Usually when this occurs on one Wifi and Internet connection, the wifi router is working, but the router connection to the Internet Service Provider is broken. Resetting the modem or router/modem combination often results in a new connection to the ISP being established (baring any data caps limits, line, modem or ISP troubles)
However your mentioning it's not connecting anywhere your going on wifi or Internet, which could mean your machine has been compromised and possibly blacklisted until it's cleaned up of malware, or you tried to self solve your earlier issues and messed up your Network settings.
I tend to lesser think it's a actual hardware problem, but it might come to that eventually.
You should test the compromised/blacklist theroy by using a Ethernet cable to the modem you know has a good Internet on and powering on/off the modem. (if a router/modem combination, then no need). If you get Internet and not kicked off in a few minutes, then your machine is fine, likely messed up Network settings are too blame.
You can clear everything out by creating a New Location by editing locations and creating a new one, also by going to Airport Advanced > Airport and deleting all the previous connections to start over new. Reboot.
Connect manually to your home network and save in Keychain when it asks.
If this is all too much for you, take it to a local PC/Mac repair shop as they specialize in software/network issues. -

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.
Some Wi-Fi losses may stem from a problematic interaction between Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. Numerous users have found that turning off Cellular Data in Settings gets their Wi-Fi working again.
You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. Simply scroll horizontally to see all your apps, and close the apps with a simple flick towards the top of the screen.

Macbook Pro won't connect to wifi but other computers are working perfectly
Hi,
I have a 2012 MacBook Pro that connects to WiFi no problem anywhere else - except for my parent's house (who I am currently visiting). There are 2 other PCs in the house that connect to the WiFi without a problem, as does my iPhone. When I try to connect, the Network Setup Assistant keeps saying "Connection Timeout" and then when I go into "Assist Me" the error comes up as "The password you entered is invalid." I know that the password is correct, but I can't get passed this step...tried restarting computer and router but no luck.
Help!!Click the Advanced button in the Network preference pane, then the TCP/IP tab. Type something (anything, as long as it's unique) in the DHCP Client ID text box. Click OK, then Apply. Reopen the TCP/IP tab and click Renew DHCP lease.

Long story short, I downladed an illegal file on my computer, and my internet provider cut me off. They made me connect an ethernet cable to the modem to go online and sign a I will not ever do again ordeal. Ever since then though, my computer will not connect with its wifi. My mobile iphone would connect easily and internet is fine. Just with my Macbook it won't connect. I brought the laptop to work and it would connect with other wifi networks easily, just not the one at home. any solutions?

Is its your ISP wifi? If so, have you tried others (hot spots)?

IPod won't connect to wifi but the wifi is fine
My computer's wifi is fine but both mine and my sisters iPods won't connect to the wifi. What's wrong with my iPod?
Does the iPod connect to other networks?
Does the iPod see the network?
Any error messages?
Do other devices now connect?
Did the iPod connect before?
Try the following to rule out a software problem:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Power off and then back on the router
- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
- iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
- Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network
- iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
- Restore from backup. See:
iOS: How to back up
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

MacBook won't connect to wifi but iPhones will?
Help! My MacBook will not connect to wifi at home. All other devices do, but none of the MacBooks. Weird, right? I've tried every fix I could find in these forums and nothing works. Diagnostic test says network is working fine...
i sometimes run to these issues when i have my nieces and nephews visiting me and a lot of devices trying to connect to the same router - some will connect and others won't.
I solved my issue by getting into my router's settings and changing the channel - under the wireless section.
I also changed all my macbooks dns settings to the image below.
give that one a go and see if that helps you out. -
My iphone 4s won't connect to wifi but other people's do
I have a new iphone 4S and it won't connect to the wi fi at our home. Other people in my family have iphones or nexus and they all will connect.
I enter the password and the wireless symbol appears for a second but then it says unable to connect.
I have no trouble connecting to other wifis in other locations.
Thanks in advance, it is getting very frustrating.!!!Just had this same problem I went to the apple store today and they told me my wifi card was out and then gave me a new phone but I backed it up and it's not working again so they said one of my apps might have a virus that is interfering with my wifi so it's back to apple again tomorrow They said they will give me another new phone but I will have to set it up as new and will probably lose everything except the contacts that I have backed up so if I were you I would back up your pics and everything else in iCloud

IPad mini won't connect to wifi, but does connect to iPhone hotspot.
I have a 1st gen iPad mini. It suddenly didn't connect to any of my known networks (House, work, parents). It does see the wifi signal but does not connect. I did a reset to all network settings, and it only connects to my iPhone hotspot but when I try to put the password for all the other wifi networks it gives me a message that the password is incorrect, which I'm sure is not right because I tried it on the other devices. I made a full restore to factory settings so it's runing iOS 8.1, it is like new, but still the same problem.
Hi Maybe it's a hardware problem or a modem problem. I think you need to take to Apple Store they may exchange but you will have to pay part of the cost if over 1 year old. Cheers Brian

Installed iTunes 10.5 but after I restarted my computer it won't connect to the Internet. All other computers in the house connect to Internet just fine. Help!! I Did all the regular modem diagnostics but that computer won't connect and it's a hard wire connection, not wireless (too far from the wireless signal). Is anyone else having this problem?
Hello, might try this...
Make a New Location, Using network locations in Mac OS X ...
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2712
10.5, 10.6, 10.7 & 10.8…
System Preferences>Network, top of window>Locations>Edit Locations, little plus icon, give it a name.
10.5.x/10.6.x/10.7.x/10.8.x instructions...
System Preferences>Network, click on the little gear at the bottom next to the + & - icons, (unlock lock first if locked), choose Set Service Order.
The interface that connects to the Internet should be dragged to the top of the list.
IFor 10.5/10.6/10.7/10.8, System Preferences>Network, unlock the lock if need be, highlight the Interface you use to connect to Internet, click on the advanced button, click on the DNS tab, click on the little plus icon, then add these numbers...
208.67.222.222
208.67.220.220
(There may be better or faster DNS numbers in your area, but these should be a good test).
Click OK. -
How to invoke the shutdown event tracker when running restart-computer
In Windows command shell, it is possible to run shutdown /d to specify a reason code and /c to enter a comment into the shutdown event tracker to log why a shutdown was being performed.
I'm not seeing an equivalent parameter for the restart-computer cmdlet in PowerShell. Is it possible to invoke the shutdown event tracker when running restart-computer?help restart-computer
says no. There's nothing wrong with using native commands, in a number of cases they are better than what PS provides.
