If you set it up as a new iphone, then it will be as it was when it was new.
Did it have your contacts on it when it was new?
Your contacts should be on your computer. you can sync them back to the iphone.

Cloud computing between my iPhone and iPad with my wife's new iPhone
Just purchased an iPhone 5 for my wife and have connected it to my existing iTunes account. I already have an iCloud account for my iPhone 5 and iPad. What I would like is to be able to share calendars, photostream, and provide cloud based backup for her but still maintain autonomy between the devices. I do not wish to have her contacts transferred onto my iPhone/iPad and she does not wish to have mine either.
Do/can I set up a new iCloud account for her phone and share photostream/calendar while still sharing the same itunes account? Is that possible or is there an easier way to be able to do this?You can leave your iPhone and iPad as they are. If you haven't set up iCloud on your wife's phone yet, simply go to Settings>iCloud on her phone and sign in with a different Apple ID. (If you don't have one, tap Get Free Apple ID at the bottom to create one. This will require a different non-Apple email address, which must be verified to validate the ID.) You can continue to share the same Apple ID for purchasing (in Settings>iTunes & App Stores). It does not need to be the same as the ID you use for other services such as iCloud.
If, on the other hand, your existing iCloud account is already set up on her phone, and her data is now merged with yours, you will need to migrate her phone to a new account, then delete the unwanted data from each account. Begin by saving any photo stream photos she has on her phone to her camera roll by opening her my photo stream album, tapping Edit, tap all the photos, tap Share, then tap Save to Camera Roll.
Once this is done, go to Settings>iCloud on her phone, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account. (This will only delete the account from this phone, not from iCloud. Your devices will not be effected by this.) When prompted about what to do with the iCloud data, be sure to select Keep On My iPhone. Next, set up her new iCloud account using a different Apple ID (if you don't have one, tap Get a Free Apple ID at the bottom). Then turn iCloud data syncing for contacts, etc. back to On, and when prompted about merging with iCloud, choose Merge. This will upload the data to the new account.
Finally, to un-merge the data you will then have to go to icloud.com on your computer and sign into each iCloud account separately and manually delete the data you don't want (i.e., delete her data from your account, and vice versa). -
Moving from old iPhone and 10.4 OS Macbook to new iPhone 4G and 10.5 iMac
I have an original iPhone and have it synced to a 5 year old MacBook which is on 10.4.11. Not Snow Leopard. Now I have a new iPhone and have discovered that it requires at least a 10.5.
My proposal is to change computers to sync with so move old phone to the iMac. Then, sync iPhone 4 to that computer.
I'm trying to move all apps.
I have iTunes library in an external hard drive but have not been successful in using this to access all music in both computers. (MacBook has most purchased music on it, copied to external hard drive, attached to iMac and Media Library now pulls from External Hard Drive with limited success).
Before I do this, I just want to find out if this is the best route.

There were some occasional problems transferring from PPC Macs to Intel Macs, if the new one was running Leopard or the first couple of releases of Snow Leopard. By all accounts, those were fixed long ago.

Depends on what the issues are. If they're OS-related, no, since you'll have a whole new OS. If you have broken or partially-deleted apps, yes, some of that sort of problem might be transferred. Fix such problems first, if at all possible; otherwise you'll have to fix them later. -
So after i use my iphone and set it down, it shuts down like when my phone is out of battery when i am at like 90%. Then i gotta plug it in and it will turn on but then i have no phone signal. So then i reset it and its fine. Then it happens again. Please Help.

I need to factory restore my iPhone and set up as new device... If I back up the device, but set it up as a new iPhone, will I be able to get all of my data, apps, music, notes, texts and settings back? (ditto with TeamLava game data??)
I need 100% confirmation as I'm worried I'll lose both some important app and data on their, as well as some hard-earned game time on a few apps!!
(The reason I need to restore and set up fresh - I set this iPhone up from a back years ago which pulled through an encrypted local backup password that I don't remember setting and no password I can think of will turn it off. I have been told the only way around this is to factory restore and set up as a new iPhone)

My Ipod was originally set up as a sub-account of a firends. After that, I got an Iphone and set up my own Apple account. I just got a new Ipod, and now can't sync my old Itunes to it. There is no such thing as a "sub-account." Also, you probably mean iTunes library, when you say "account." Your "account" in iTunes is your Apple ID, which is what you use to sign in to the iTunes Store to make purchases. iPods are associated with an iTunes library, not with an Apple ID (iTunes Store account). You'll need to clarify...
So, this is what I think you are saying. You previously shared an iTunes library on a computer with your friend. Your old iPod was synced to that iTunes library.
You got an iPhone, and at that time, you set up your own iTunes library. Is that on a different computer? How does the iPhone affect your question about the iPod?
You got a new iPod. What is your "old iTunes"? Is that the iTunes library you shared with your friend? -

Here’s my question. My laptop is broken and I had a crack in my iPhone screen. Prior to sending it in to repair I backed up using iCloud and before restoring my phone to factory settings decided to do the software update. Half way through the update it asked me to connect to iTunes. So here’s were it gets complicated…
My charger is also broken, so in my panic at the stranger fixing my phone seeing my personal stuff I used the erase everything on the find my iPhone app, thinking iCloud had my back. It was still asking to be connected to iTunes so my friend have me their laptop nod charger (automatic sync not turned on) I plugged it in, the command went away and I sent my phone to be repaired.
It came back all shiny and new, but iCloud back up disppeared along with four years of photos, videos, etc etc. I contacted apple who had engineers go through their servers to find nothing from my iPhone backed up. I searched my friends laptop for music I have bought and even plugged the phone into their laptop but comes up with their phones name and their last back up. I have restored from iCloud and set up as a new phone.
I am worried my friend will have my information from my iPhone. Is it possible and if not has it just been erased forever?

I have just bought a new iphone 4 as an upgrade to my iphone 3GS. How can I transfer all my apps including saved levels in games etc. and data and folders to the new iphone 4 and keep facetime etc on the new iphone 4.
