hi all i just purchase the photoshop CS 5.1 and it is work fine with every thing just when i select the text tool the photoshop become very very slow and almost die
i try to install it again but the same problem
any help for this please

This usually means that you have some corrupt fonts, or that the OS font cache is corrupt.

Select the Text Tool
Then right click on its' icon in the Option bar.
Select "Reset Tool" from the pop-up menu.

I am afraid you have come across the Live Rectangle bug which is limited to the MAC versions starting with 10.7 and 10.8, but not 10.9 (Mavericks), see this thread linked to below.

So a switch to Mavericks with a reinstallation might be the way to solve it here and now.
To get round it in each case, it is possible to Expand the Live Rectangles to get normal old fashioned rectangles, or to Pathfinder>Unite, or to use the Scale Tool.
A more permanent way round that is to create normal old fashioned rectangles, after running the free script created by Pawel, see this thread with download link:

When I select text, system wide, and delete it, why is the succeeding text then selected?
This doesn't happen all the time, but it's happened enough for me to notice it and get super annoyed by it.
Here's an example. If I have the following text:
The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog.
And I highlight quick brown and then press delete, I get: (The red shows the selected text)
The fox jumps over the lazy dog.
So when I then start typing, more text is removed than I want. Sometimes this effect carries over, so that the next couple words are selected once I start typing.
It's wonderfully annoying. So I was wondering if anyone else was experiencing such issues or if anyone might have an idea on how to get rid of this problem.

Ooops. I haven't updated my sig in a while. I'm on 10.8.2 and it happens on a late 2008 Alu Macbook.

How do I get the bold, underline, italics editing option for Notes on iPhone 5 iOS 7.0.4? Option is not appearing when I select text.

When I select text, I don't get an arrow with additional options. What is shown in the image are the only options I get. Is there something I need to do in Settings or something in order to be able to bold, underline and italicize text?

I only have an iPod (but it does have the latest software) but I achieved bold text as follows:
1) touch and hold word to embolden;
2) touch Select;
3) touch the arrow head at the right;
4) touch BIU option section of the option bar;
5) touch the Bold section of the option bar.
Having selected the text, the selection can be narrowed or widened using the blue dot. Also, the Bold, Italics and Underline option bar does not disappear once a section has been made, thus bold and underline can be chosen - touch elsewhere on the screen to remove the option bar. When the selected option bar section background turns grey the software has accepted your request. Note that a first go at achieving this might not work if the software has not correctly picked up your touch and may not present you with the correct options - it is intuitively trying to help you and sometimes misunderstands your touch.

Replace Selected Text tool: how to make permanent?

I'm trying to edit a 70-page PDF, and would like to select text using the Replace Selected Text tool, then type in the correct text in the edit balloon.
This works if, each and every time, I select text, then mouse up to the menu bar, choose Tools > Comment & Markup > Text Edits > Replace Selected Text.
It seems to me that I used to be able to make this choice, and then the Text tool would remain Replace Selected Text until I made another choice to use another tool, rather than, as it now does, revert back to the plain Text Edits tool when I finish typing in the replacement text, which does not replace selected text.
If I cannot choose the type of Text Edit tool I want to use and make that choice stick, it will take me at least twice as long to accomplish the task.
I'm using Acrobat 8.2.1 / Mac OS 10.6.3.

Hi... i think i can help... but i don't know how you connect to the Database. From the Code you provided one can only tell that you're using a DataTable for some reason... i can't resist to suggest to you to use WPF instead of Forms. But back to the main
issue:
You have an Application with a DataTable, the Source of the DataTable is (this is the most important part to your question) somehow magically filled with data from your database.
You then press a Button wich should add a new Row to your DataTable. I guess after doing the update-thingy MR. Richard suggested, you actually see the Row now.
For an Application to Write to the Database there needs to be a Method wich actually sends the SQL-Commadns to the SQL-Server. (I really hope youre not referring to an Excel.Worksheet as your Database here... if you are -> try using the Excel namespace
in Microsoft.Office.Interop... or even better -> switch to a real database) [btw: not trying to mock you... just making sure]
please provide us with the code wich loads and writes to the database at hand... also, please tell us wich approach youre using (like EntityFramework, MySqlConnector, ODBC... etc).

Why is selected text in the Twitter search box not highlighted?

Selected text in the Twitter search box is not highlighted. It should be highlighted. So far as I've noticed, this is the only place where my system doesn't highlight text properly. I can't find any references to this problem with the Twitter search text highlighting anywhere from anyone other than me.
I'm using Firefox 12 on Windows XP Home with the XP classic theme.

The word "This" in the above image should be highlighted.

Such issues have been reported as caused by a PNG image with a white color for the background.
A right-click on that search bar and opening the Inspector and disable the .global-nav .form-search .search-input { []background-color: transparent;} rule also makes this work.<br />
This works only as long as the search bar has focus.<br />
Not sure which rule is causing the selection not to work if the focus is removed.

Hi,
You minimize the size of the result set by using the WHERE and HAVING clauses. To increase the efficiency of these clauses, you should formulate them to fit with the database table indexes.
Database Indexes
Indexes speed up data selection from the database. They consist of selected fields of a table, of which a copy is then made in sorted order. If you specify the index fields correctly in a condition in the WHERE or HAVING clause, the system only searches part of the index (index range scan).
The primary index is always created automatically in the R/3 System. It consists of the primary key fields of the database table. This means that for each combination of fields in the index, there is a maximum of one line in the table. This kind of index is also known as UNIQUE. If you cannot use the primary index to determine the result set because, for example, none of the primary index fields occur in the WHERE or HAVING clause, the system searches through the entire table (full table scan). For this case, you can create secondary indexes, which can restrict the number of table entries searched to form the result set.

Check your page code for an EL that uses 'BracketSuffix'. This is the point of error as the 'BracketSuffix' can't be evaluated at the given point.

To answer your question foor your iOS Device using Pages or Keynote for iOS: You can't highlight as you might in many note taking apps for iPad, etc.
The best you can do at this point is to change the selected text's color by selecting the text > Style Menu (wrench) > Tap on the Font > Tap on the Color Box to reveal choices.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. For instructions, launch the System Preferences application, select Help from the menu bar, and enter “Set up a guest account” (without the quotes) in the search box. Don't use the Safari-only Guest login created by Find My Mac.
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem(s)?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault in Mac OS X 10.7 or later, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The Guest login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode* and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
*Note: If FileVault is enabled under Mac OS X 10.7 or later, or if a firmware password is set, you can’t boot in safe mode.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem(s)?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of steps 1 and 2.

When I select Brush, changing the exposure supposed to change only the selected part exposure.
In my LR-5 it changes the whole image exposure. What am I doing wrong?

More than likely you have all the adjustment tool's sliders hidden, and you've thus moved the exposure slider from the Basic panel just below, which of course is a global adjustment. Check the dark arrow that I've highlighted in this screenshot, it's likely pointed left (everything hidden), so click on it and it will point down and all the adjustment brush sliders will be revealed.

The easiest way to move bookmarks around is in the Bookmarks Organizer, which at some point was renamed the Library. To open it, you can choose Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks or press Ctrl+Shift+b.
(Please note that the sort order of the Library dialog doesn't actually carry over to the menu. To sort the menu alphabetically, it's easiest to open the Bookmarks Sidebar, right-click the words Bookmarks Menu and choose Sort by Name.)

When I do a search, the file comes up under the new name, but it does not show a path, and even though preview shows the contents, I can't open the document (Powerpoint) and I can't move the document. I tried "Copy" and paste but it doesn't work. I tried "Share" with Airdrop and iChat, but the file is inaccessible. When i try to rename the file, it says the filename is too long.
When I try to open it, it says the alias is not good, and asks if I want to fix the alias. I'm afraid to do that and lose all access to this document.
Right now, it feels like a ghost document - it is on the computer intact, but it is in an undisclosed location and inaccessible.
Please help!!

I was able to resolve this by repairing permissions, even though no permissions error was listed specifically for that file.
I could also have recovered it through Time Machine, but I'm interested in knowing how not to have this happen again!
I was afraid of rebooting and possibly losing track even of the ghost.
I did not try EasyFind - I'll keep that in mind next time.
