When i send a text message on my iphone 5S it arrives showing it came from icloud how do I change this so it shows its coming from me
I need help changing a setting. When I send text messages from my iphone 5S it arrives to whomever i am texting as an icloud message . i would like it to arrive with my cell # or name.
Settings > Messages > Send & Receive > Start New Conversations from - select your number

I am not sure what you mean.
Do you mean the From field?
You can change it by tapping it, it will give you options based on the other email accounts set up.
You can set a default account here:
Sttings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > scroll down to the Mail section & you will see Default Account. You can change that to your gmail account. -

Go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive and tap to clear the check mark next to your phone number on her phone and her phone number on your phone. That should stop the dual posting.

i just purchased 2 ipod touch for my kidz (9 & 10 yr. old) . and registered them both with my email. I didn't know every text message I receive, they too would get on their IPod Touch. HOw do I change this? And do I need to contact a Representative to add their own emails....?
Can you connect to a wifi source on the device? Enable wifi in settings on the device itself. If you don't have wifi at home, there may be a local hotspot you can use for this.
The reason this happens is carriers don't want people downloading huge files that would slow their network as well as eat up your data plan. -
When I send a text message on my iPhone 4s to my two children with non-smart phones, the message comes through blank. If I send it to each one individually, it will go through ok. Is this a problem with my phone or it is something I am doing wrong.
Check your phone to make sure MMS is turned on. If it is, check with your cell provider and make sure your phone is provisioned correctly.

When I send a text message I do not get any confirmation that it has been delivered. Is there any way of getting an automated message confirmation delivery and time? I was used to this with my old phone and need to know that my text message has been delivered to the recipient's phone, and when.
Thanks. So there's no means of knowing whether a text message has been delivered, not to mention time of delivery. Perhaps I've gone for the wrong phone. It might do a lot but seems to miss out on some basics.

Why is it that when I send a text message, sometimes the recipient receives it twice. It doesn't happen every time.
I am having this same problem. Sometimes it sends from my phone number, sometimes it sends from my gmail. Under my messages settings it says "receive messages at 2 addresses" and when I click on that I try to remove the gmail address from there but the option to delete that email address is grayed out so I can't click on it.
I discovered this was happening because I am in a group imessage with 2 friends. They told me that for some reason the group convos were split into 2 different conversations in their message list. And we discovered it's because in one group the messages are coming from my phone number, and in the other group it is coming from my gmail address.
I don't mind RECEIVING iMessages at both my phone number and my gmail - but I want control over which one is being used when I SEND iMessages.

Either one of you needs to uncheck the other's phone number under settings<messages<send & receive or one of you needs to sign out of the apple ID in iMessage settings altogether by pressing the apple id on the page and choosing 'sign out'

When I send a text message it says delivery failed. When I resend it sends the message twice. Why am I having trouble?
Oh goodness! We want your text going through the first time, dria56. Does this happen when you're messaging someone in particular or is it every message you send? Is it a plain text or a message with more than 160 characters/graphics/pictures?

You are both signed ointo iMessage with the same APple ID. It is always best practice to use separate APple IDs for iCloud, iMessage & FaceTime.
If you choose to use the same Apple ID, check your Send & Recieve settings:
Settings > Messages > Send & Recieve > Make sure your husbands number is not checked on your phone (in both the You Can Be Reached By iMessage At and Start New Conversations From sections) and yours is not check on his phone. -

When I send a text message from my iPhone response only comes back to my iPhone . If I send from iPad, response only comes back to iPad. Whichever I used last is where response comes. Responses are not coming to both anymore!
On both devices when you go to settings>messages>send and recieve how are poeple contacting you on each device?. e.g. email or mobile number.

I called my wife and she said that under "send and receive", my number was checked and hers wasn't and no amount of tapping on her number would check it. Also, when she uncheck mine and all the email addresses, there was no more "send and receive" window. Now what?
