When I send a text message the receiving party does not know who it came from?
When I send a text message to someone they keep asking me who sent this message? Please explain what I need to change.

Do you mean the From field?
You can change it by tapping it, it will give you options based on the other email accounts set up.
You can set a default account here:
Sttings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > scroll down to the Mail section & you will see Default Account. You can change that to your gmail account.

My wife (who has a Droid) asked me to text a photo to her. I went to Message on my 4s, selected my wife as the target for the text, selected the photo, and sent the text. Rather than appearing on her mobile phone, the text went to her email. When I selected my wife as the person I wanted to text, I was not given any choice of the target phone number or email address...it just defaulted to her email and did not tell me that is what it was doing! I did find a solution, but it's more complicated. I have to go to Contacts, select my wife, and then I'm given a choice of how I want to send the Message. Why doesn't the iPhone do this in Messages in the first place?

Why is it that when I send a text message, sometimes the recipient receives it twice. It doesn't happen every time.
I am having this same problem. Sometimes it sends from my phone number, sometimes it sends from my gmail. Under my messages settings it says "receive messages at 2 addresses" and when I click on that I try to remove the gmail address from there but the option to delete that email address is grayed out so I can't click on it.
I discovered this was happening because I am in a group imessage with 2 friends. They told me that for some reason the group convos were split into 2 different conversations in their message list. And we discovered it's because in one group the messages are coming from my phone number, and in the other group it is coming from my gmail address.
I don't mind RECEIVING iMessages at both my phone number and my gmail - but I want control over which one is being used when I SEND iMessages.

when i send a text message with my new iphone 5 to my wife who is now using my old Iphone 4 we both receive the message. How is this possible? Also she receives all text messages sent to me. She obviously has a different phone number and a different provider

Go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive and do one of the following:
Either uncheck the email address shown under "You can be reached by iMessage at" on both of your phones; or
If you want to continue to receive iMessages at this email address on one of your devices, on the other phone tap the Apple ID at the top, sign out, then sign back in using a different Apple ID (so both phones are using a different Apple ID for iMessage). Note: you can continue to share an Apple ID for purchasing from the iTunes and App stores. It does not need to be the same as the ID you are using for iMessage, FaceTime and other services. -
When I send a text message it says delivery failed. When I resend it sends the message twice. Why am I having trouble?
Oh goodness! We want your text going through the first time, dria56. Does this happen when you're messaging someone in particular or is it every message you send? Is it a plain text or a message with more than 160 characters/graphics/pictures?

When I send a text message to one of my daughters, the message ends up going to my other daughter's iphone. Why? All three of our iphones are using the same itunes account but all of the sharing is turned off and I have checked to make sure that each phone is set to only recieve imessages at its own number.
Are you using the same email address for imessages, Go to settings,message, send and recieve, does each phone have the same email? checked?

When I send a text message on my iPhone 4s to my two children with non-smart phones, the message comes through blank. If I send it to each one individually, it will go through ok. Is this a problem with my phone or it is something I am doing wrong.
Check your phone to make sure MMS is turned on. If it is, check with your cell provider and make sure your phone is provisioned correctly.

I do not have my iphone synced with my work email but when I send a text message via my work email any response I get comes to my phone. Why? How do I change that because I do not want my phone connected with my work email?

I have just upgraded to the iphone 5 and now when I send a text message it says its from astrogirl36@*** instead of my name, that is my name for icloud how do I change this

This is an example of how you can select the exact content that you want to sync to your device. You do not have to sync the entire iTunes library. You can pick and choose the music, apps, books and so on that you want to sync. This is using music as an example.
Connect the iPad to the PC and launch iTunes.
Click on the iPad name on the left side under devices.
Click on the Music Tab on the right.
Click on only the albums or playlists that you want to sync.
Click on the Sync Music Heading.
Click on Apply in the lower right corner of iTunes
You can do this with apps, books, movies .... Whatever .... You have the freedom to sync whatever you want. -

When I send a text message, daughter's iphone records as also sending. I have an iphone 4 and she has an iphone 5. We both recently updated to ios 7. This problem did not happen before the update.
Go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive and tap to clear the check mark next to your phone number on her phone and her phone number on your phone. That should stop the dual posting.

I called my wife and she said that under "send and receive", my number was checked and hers wasn't and no amount of tapping on her number would check it. Also, when she uncheck mine and all the email addresses, there was no more "send and receive" window. Now what?
