When I send an SMS message from my Text Message Forwarding enabled Macbook to an Android, it breaks the message up into several out of order chunks. Is there a solution to this?
I have a 2012 Macbook Air and an iPhone 5, both with up-to-date software. When I set up Text Message Forwarding, everything went according to plan, until I sent a relatively wordy text to a friend (from my Macbook) to a friend on an Android phone. It chopped the text up into several 2 line fragments, and delivered them in seemingly random order. The fragments were specifically 2 lines, and not 160 characters, which is the "limit" you used to get on old SMS messages. It continues to happen.
Are you using any emoji, or accented characters? If so, try not to. Also, I recall something about a double space at the very end of the text. Unfortunately, I don't remember if you should use them or avoid them.. Beyond that, there's not much you can do. How the text is delivered is under control of the carrier.

I transfered a picture folder to my Time Capsule (3Gbit) from a external USB, drive thru my Macbook Pro, and now it occupies space on the Time Capsule but I can't open it. Is there a solution for this?

Have you got the drive mounted in Finder?
Try and change the permissions of the folder in TC.. but I am not sure you are going to find this easy.
I think the best way to fix this is to copy the whole lot back to the external USB via the terminal using a full root login.
So open terminal.. type sudo su
Type in your main administrator password.
Then you can use any of the command line copy tools.. I have just done this with rsync..
The command is rsync -av /source/* /destination/
You should mount both the source and destination in finder.. and you can then drag the folder into the command line.. it will then copy the exact source and destination you want. -
Hi All,
I am currently trying to backup my iTunes library onto an external hard drive so that I can copy it onto my new Macbook Pro. I have been following the steps posted on the Apple website however each time I get a dialogue box stating:
'The operation cannot be completed because you do not have sufficient privileges for some of the items'.
Is this because I have items that were bought under another persons iTunes account? If so, is there a solution to this problem? Or am I doing something completely wrong?

That's not the router's IP address. Most likely it will be 192.168.1.1
System Preferences>Network>Advanced>TCP/IP should show it. -
Is there any solution to the problem with the messages app on my iphone4 no longer opening pics after completing the latest iphone software update?
Go to iTunes menu, EDIT/PREFERENCES/DEVICES tab, do you see any Backup files with Date and Time? These are the backup file you have everytime you sync your device to your iTunes.
Now close the dialogue box, connect your device to your computer. In iTunes left Pane, your iPhone will appear under "Devices". Right mouse click yout iPhone and select Restore from backup, select the backup from Date and Time you can remember that has all the contacts and notes and proceed from there. -
After I downloaded Maverick, I noticed that my photobooth images were out of chronological order. I've since downloaded OS X Yosemite (10.10) and they are still out of order. My version of Photobooth is 7.0 (719). Is there a fix for this? Many thanks in advance.

I recently charged my keyboard batteries and after two days I started to get the message repeatedly that my batteries are weak. I know this is not true because when I had that message with the batteries before this charge they lasted for months even though I was constantly getting the message that they were very weak. During that time I ran a test and alternated the mouse batteries with the keyboard batteries and sure enough the mouse batteries which had measured 85% charged when I put them in the keyboard within two days were showing 18% charged and I had hardly used the keyboard.
I doubt that there is a solution other than buying a keyboard that is wired. However, what can I do to disconnect the screen coming alive during the night when the message the batteries are weak pops up. That would be helpful. Thanks for any help you can give me.I have the same keyboard and do not have battery issues.
It may have something to do with using rechargeable batteries.
You can also try removing the keyboard then re-pairing it. Maybe a bad bluetooth connection is draining the battery.
System Preferences > Bluetooth > right-click (control-click) on the keyboard > Remove > Remove
Wait for it to show in the bluetooth list then Pair > enter the number sequence & return as displyed on the screen. -
My new ipod touch (software 5.1) is rebooting constantly, white display problems, stuck problems, it is new, do you have a solution? is it software or hardware? I have visited you tube and I am surprised about a lot of problems like this
If you can't turn it off, then let the battery fully drain. After charging for at least an hour, tyrb a reset and restore. If it continue to reboot then time for an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

When I receive an SMS message, how do I find out the phone number it came from?
When I receive an SMS message from a person in my address book, the Messages app in my iPhone shows the name of the person who sent the message. At the top of the conversation, I can tap the word "Contact", which brings up the Contact's name, a phone icon, a camera icon, and a letter i in a circle. If I tap the i, it brings up the sender's record from my address book. How do I know which of the sender's multiple phone numbers is the number that he sent the message from?

when you use smsconn = ( MessageConnection )Connector.open( "sms://:50000" ); it means that you are trying to connect to a sms server. So if you don't have a sms server on your computer, an exception is thrown !
if you just wanna test sms sending, put the phone number in the string like this

my daughter has changed her phone from an iphone to a nokia but kept the same number but when i send her a message from my iphone it still comes up as an i messsage and she doesnt receive it can anybody tell me how to fix this please
She needs to remove that device from the iMessage database, or if she still has the phone, she can go into Settings, Messages and turn off iMessage. If she still has the phone, she just needs to put the SIM back in for a couple of minutes to turn that off.
If she does not have the phone any more, she will need to go to her Support Profile, if she registered the phone and delete the phone from the profile. -
When I send a Group message from my address book, the entire group gets listed in the "To" line. How do I get each member to receive the message individually without listing all members? Its just messy is all. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the question. You can actually configure this behavior from Mail preferences:
1. Choose Preferences from the Mail menu.
2. Click Composing.
3. Deselect the checkbox for "When sending to a group, show all member addresses".
When you send an email to the group, only the groups name will be seen.

When I try to send e-mail I get an error message stating that the e-mail address was rejected by the server. When I send to e-mail from another address, I get back an error saying the e-mail address is unknown. My e-mail has worked fine for years until yesterday. HELP!
The specific text of the error message is very important here — I'm not sure exactly you're encountering here.
If you're able to connect to your email server and are able send email to other email addresses and if the failures are specific to one email recipient address, then please contact the intended recipient of the failing email, and confirm their address is valid. (This is the way I'm reading your question.)
If you are unable to send any email to any other email addresses and this is specific to your email address, then try the web mail client interface (if one is available) to verify your login user and password, and check with your email ISP for assistance. If your email password works via web mail, follow this Apple troubleshooting guide, then — if everything else fails — I'd probably then entirely remove the email account from Mail.app and re-add it per your email ISP's particular setup requirements. (Some issue with the setup or maybe a corrupt setting in OS X or a problem at the mail ISP servers is a common problem, but this effects attempts to send to all email addresses via that account.)
An email account setup is specific to an email provider, unfortunately. If you're using one of the more common email ISPs, then there are usually setup guides and frequently-asked questions posted online.
