When I send RAW file to PS, the LR edits are ignored

Hi, I wonder if someone might have had this issue and could help me to solve it.
When I send a RAW file to PS for further edit, the edits made in LR are ignored. This started to happen randomly, and now it's becoming the rule. If I send the same file to another program, for instance DxO ViewPoint, the edits made in LR are taken into account. I have updated both LR and PS with CR to the latest versions, to no avail. I use a MacBook Pro, Moutain Lion and an external NEC monitor.

It has proven to be the case, thanks Simon.
Here is the temporary solution offered by NIK. It makes working with the plugins a little less straightforward, for layers need to be renamed or duplicate before launching the plugin, but at least Camera Raw works from LightRoom.
We are currently aware of an issue with the Adobe Camera Raw sliders not performing correctly as well as a problem where adjustments made in Lightroom are not carried over to Photoshop. Our developers are in the process of trying to find a fix for this, but in the interim I offer this work around: In your applications folder, choose Photoshop>Plug-ins>Google and you will find the various Nik plug-in folders. Add a tilde sign to the Selective Tool folder (like this: ~Selective Tool). Close Photoshop and open it again. Camera Raw should now be working without issues. The Nik plug-ins will lose some functionality, but nothing really serious. You will have to manually duplicate a layer before using a Nik filter and the filters won't work with multi-layers. If you do need full functionality, close Photoshop, remove the tilde sign and reopen Photoshop.

My question concerns the impossibility to open RAW-files directly from the program Adobe Bridge. At the moment when you open a RAW-file from Adobe Bridge by double-clicking, RAW-file is opened only in Photoshop. In the settings Adobe Bridge - in "open RAW-files by double-clicking in Adobe Camera Raw» box is checked. When you try any changes in the settings Adobe Bridge system displays a message:
Bridge's parent application is not active. Bridge requires that a qualifying product has been launched at least once to enable this feature.
The entire line of Adobe products on my computer updated to the latest updates. Previously, a family of products Adobe Photoshop on your computer is not set. Computer - PC, Windows 7 Enterprises.

Quit Safari.
Open the Library folder in your home folder as follows:

I have Photoshop CS2 vsn 9.0 with the Camera Raw 3.7 update and the Digital Negative Converter. I cannot open any RAW files. Does the fact that I've opened them in Lightroom 5.0 before make a difference?

When I try to open the RAW file (CR2) from the Photoshop application or from the Bridge (even while holding down the shift key) I get a message saying it's not the right kind of file. When I try to convert using the converter, it won't recognize the files.

Which operating system are you using?
Which camera are the camera raw files from?
Did you convert the files to dng using lightroom or the standalone dng converter?
If using the standalone dng converter, which version?
In the dng converter did you try setting the Compatibility for Camera Raw 2.4 and later
(Preferences>Compatibility)
You should also be able to send the files from lightroom to cs2 without converting to dng, either by using Photo>Edit In>Photoshop or setting cs2 as an external editor in the lightroom preferences

Sending Raw files from Lightroom 4 to Elements

Hi,
I am using the trial version of Photoshop Elements 11.
However, I can't send Raw files directly to Elements from Lightroom 4. Only PSD, Tiff or Jpegs.
I have downloaded the latest camera Raw plug ins so both Elements and Lightroom have Camera Raw 7.3.
Please can anyone help.

Hi,
Lightroom 4 doesn't contain a native ability to do what you are asking, but I wrote a plugin that might help you do what you want. It's called TPG Elemental. It helps with those many situations (e.g. creating panoramas or opening files in layers) where creating intermediate files on disk is pointless and just creates more work (or consumes more disk space) for you to manage.

Aperture 3: Deleting raw files and making the jpeg my new master-

Aperture 3 has made some great strides in making the following possible ( I posted this originally in 2007):
What I'd like to do is shoot everything in raw + jpg, and then keep the raw files only for the important shots.
I really like having the option of raw processing, but the storage demands are very heavy. If I could just make a selection of photos in a roll, and have a command to delete any unneeded raw files from the selected photos, while keeping the original jpgs as master, that would be great.
Also, it would be great to be able to manipulate a raw file, and then when I'm satisfied with the image, to render a high-quality jpg from that raw file & make the jpg the new master, and then delete the raw file to free up disk space.
Basically, I want the raw file safety net for everyday images, without gobbling up gigabytes of disk space <<<<<
With Aperture 3, I can finally change the master to the jpg file, which solves part of the problem. But I still want to be able to manipulate my raw file, and render a new high-quality jpg master.
Why don't Aperture / Lightroom do this? To me at least, it seems an obvious feature.

I had a chance to talk to product managers from both Apple & Adobe about this at PhotoPlus Expo in NYC a couple years back. Both seemed receptive, but here we are - years later - no progress.
I think part of the problem is that there's a purist mentality about RAW files. One should always shoot them - and then keep them forever- after all- they're your negatives!
But what about event photography? Or weddings, as you pointed out? It makes no sense to burden your workflow & backup system with 4GB of RAW files of people grinning into the camera. Once the adjustments have been made, the RAW files are just a ball & chain on your data management. And let's not forget, once you really know what you're doing, your jpegs should be good most of the time anyway.
I want RAW files as a safety net for errors in exposure and white balance. Once I know I have good photos, I don't need the safety net anymore- at least not at the price of all that hard disk space and transfer time for online backup. Of course, for my fine art stuff and important documentary work, I'll always keep the RAWs permanently. But not for routine parties/events.
You put your finger on the problem with re-importing jpegs as a solution. You lose your metadata- rankings/album memberships, etc. This is no solution!
What I want is simple, and it would be immediately useful to countless photographers:
1) Let me batch-delete RAW files when the jpegs are ok.
2) Let me do adjustments on my RAW file, render out a high-quality jpeg, and make the jpeg my new master.
Whoever does this first - Aperture or Lightroom - that's the product I'll use.

Do stars disappear when I send a file from Bridge to Bridge?

What sounds like a bad line in a bad song means this. My client works thru his/her foto-files on a Mac or PC with the Adobe Bridge, marks them with stars categories, burns it to a disc, and I want to find all the markings when I open them on my Bridge. Does that work? My second q would be: Why is there no stand-alone Adobe Bridge, for Mac and PC?

Forgot to comment on first part of question. The ratings should transfer as believe they are written to the image file. If the person is editing RAW files make sure the XMP file is also burned to disk as that file contains the edits. The labels may show up with a with label as that indicates the name is different from one location to the other.

I had this very same problem when trying to activate iMessage and Facetime on my iPad. When I signed into my account, I actually wasn't even presented with the option of a phone number - notwithstanding the fact that I was contacting others (and being reached by others) by my phone number on my iPhone. Having both the iPad and the iPhone on, I kept trying to turn off and on both iMessage and Facebook in Settings on both my iPad and iPhone, hoping that that they would eventually sync. But this proposed solution by others was unsuccessful for me.
Then, I found out what the problem was: When my iPhone was activated, it automatically registered my phone number for contact purposes. I was using iMessage on my iPhone for quite some time without actually being signed into my Apple ID account. When another device - such as an iPad or iPod - is being used for iMessage or Facebook, you are prompted to sign into your Apple account, using your username and password. These two devices will not register your phone number as an option for contact unless your iPhone is signed into your Apple account as well. In other words: your phone number will not be synced.
Go into your "Settings" on your iPhone and click on "Messages". Scroll down and click on "Send & Receive" (which should be followed by your phone number). On the next page, you will be able to determine whether or not your iPhone is using the Apple ID for messaging purposes. (Note: This information applies for Facetime as well.) If it is using your Apple ID for messaging, than at the top, you will see "Apple ID: <your particular e-mail account>" in Blue text. However, if you are not using your Apple ID for messaging, than you will see the words: "Use your Apple ID for message". Even though below this you will see your phone number checked as the contact source, you will want to click the tab that says, "Use your Apple ID for message". Sign into your account (just as you must sign in for iMessage on your other devices), and just choose your phone number as the "Send & Receive" contact. (The option of the e-mail will be there too, but you don't have to check it. And later on, you can delete it as an option.)
Now that all of your devices are signed in using your Apple ID, the other devices should register your phone number as a choice. It may take a little while, however. What I did was sign out of iMessage on my iPad, and then sign in again. If the option didn't appear, I just went back and signed in again, and kept doing this until the option for the phone number appeared.
Again, this will work for Facetime as well. The solution is to sync your iPhone account with the other devices by using your Apple ID for messaging (and Facetime) purposes.

This is iMessages, not an SMS/MMS, and this means the same Apple ID is registered for iMessage on each iPhone.
You or your daughter need to activate your own Apple ID for iMessage and FaceTime. The same Apple ID can continue to be shared for iTunes store downloads - for music and apps.
On the iPhone, go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive. Select the Apple ID at the top and sign out. Sign in with the new Apple ID.
Make sure the same email address is not available below You can be reached by iMessage at on each iPhone.
