When I sign into or out of Gmail - many other pages automatically refresh. How do I stop this?

I hate automated things, when it's NON consensual and it's part of some automated bullshit trip.
I might have half finished texts on the other open tabs, or what ever, but it's MY bandwidth to chew up on things I see fit, not the people of Mozilla, or Google or whoever.
And while the account page is gmail, that I am signing into or out of, the other pages are NOT google pages either.
I think the designers of the "refresh / automatic refresh" should be shot - because the reason I have a PAGE (tab) open, is because I want to access THAT page, and not a later version of it...
This auto-reload / refresh of some tabs absolutely annoys the piss out of me, because I did not ask for it, and there is NO apparently easy up front way to stop it from happening - which I also think is one of the best way to alienate users of a product - by building in a host of idiot functions with NO control over them.
So how do i stop this from happening?

I think what happens is that you sign in at Gmail, which is a Google+ sign-in these days, and all the other web pages that participate in the Google+ program somehow "sense" that you have just logged into Google+ and reload their page to reflect that you are nowlogged into the Google+ program. Google+ was originally an "option" at Gmail, but that ended not to long after Google+ came about - like within 6 months or so.

One solution is to stay logged into Google+ / Gmail all the time. Another is to transition away from Gmail over time and use a different web-mail platform instead; and eventually stop using Gmail altogether.

Yeah this is sounding like "THE PROBLEM" and what drives it. However, the solutions you have offered are not "solutions", in that they do not "FIX" the issues, they merely circumvent or bypass them.

Since I got my iMac 3 years ago, I've had the issue of it constantly logging me out mid-email or post, of gmail, facebook, and everything else. Sometimes it lets me stay logged in for 30 minutes, others I will be logged out every 30 seconds, ten times in a row. I'm running OSX 10.6.8 and everything has been updated. I've tried updating, basic resetting of safari, and emptying the cache.

I'd try updating to Safari 5.1.5. (It contains some fixes for issues with running in 32-bit mode, for example, and that seems to be in the vicinity of what you're getting here with 5.1.4.)

Go to preferences and General and be sure the box is checked that states to close all programs on exit. Also, right clcik your mail icon in the dock and under options be sure the open at login is not checked.

When you "rename" a photo in iPhoto you're adding a Title to the shot, not renaming the file. This si quite standard metadata in photography, but it appars that it's getting lost in the upload/at Snapfish process.
You can use the Titles as filenames if you export using the File -> Export command. It's one of the options in the export dialogue. You can upload the exported items.

I have ms exchange on my iphone 4s and when i read my email, it disappears. Where does it go and how do I stop this from happening?

I recently aquired an iphone 4s due to the fact that our parent corporation requires us to use either a blackberry or iphone in order to have the protection needed to use their email. In MS Exchange, when I recieve an email, I read it once, then it's gone. Very frustrating as I need to keep those emails available. Where do they go and How do I stop this from happening?

i actually got it figured out. I have multiple email accounts i have to use due to different corporate offices ( which can be a real headache at times). The exchange account is an active server used by Hilton and its an actual account. What was happening is my mail was getting kicked back to their server for storage. Once I contacted Hilton, they corrected it on their end. Thanks for trying to help out.

When using Lightroom then exporting to Aperture i always get 2 files? How can i Stop this?

If i Import my images to lightroom and edit, I like to display my images in Aperture but when i do the import to Aperture the image always appears twice, How do i stop this?
I generally safe as a Tiff file for my import.

Here's what I find strange (actually it's all a bit strange!), you say earlier that the import doesn't see these tiff files, yet import should see tiff files just fine:
And now you say you resave as tiff in PS and it fixes the problem.
The only conclusion I can draw is that there is something unusual about the way you are exporting the TIFF from Lightroom. TIFF is a container format that can contain multiple pages/images. I wonder if you have somehow told Lightroom to save 2 copies of the image into a single TIFF file, and then Aperture is showing you one version of the same file per image/page?

HT1849 After I delete songs manually from my iPhone 5s, when I try to pick a song, it will not chose that song but some song above it. How far up depends on how many I've deleted. How can I stop this so I can pick the correct song the first time?

After deleting songs manually from my phone, (say, I have a song on there twice and only want one or I realize I don't want a song on my iPhone) when I try to manually pick a song in the music app on my phone, the song that plays will be one that is a number of songs above the one I chose. Hi Gregg,
Have you tried resetting the device (nothing will be lost): Hold down the Home and Power buttons at the same time and continue to hold them down until the Apple appears (up to 30 seconds). Once the Home screen redisplays, see if your Music app is behaving normally.

Someone played a prank on you and entered a keyboard shortcut to change lol to something else. Your can delete that shortcut in Settings > General > Keyboard > Shortcuts

I have a ipad mini and it says that it has perect wifi yet when i go into safari it says unable to connect with the server how can i fix this?

The wifi symbol only indicates the presence/signal strength of wifi. Not that you are connected.
Some things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
    •    Launch Settings app

    •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.
Some Wi-Fi losses may stem from a problematic interaction between Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. Numerous users have found that turning off Cellular Data in Settings gets their Wi-Fi working again.
You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. Simply scroll horizontally to see all your apps, and close the apps with a simple flick towards the top of the screen.

If you are trying to create an account and it is saying invalid email or email already in use, it means that you have a snapfish account. In that situation, you will want to go to http://www.snapfish.com/ and click the login button in the top right hand corner of the page. When it prompts you to enter your email address and password, click the "Forgot your password?" link and enter your email address. They will send you a email with a temporary password and a link to change the password. After you change the password, go back to http://www.eprintcenter.com/ and log in with your email address and the password you just created.

If you don't want to use a remote with your computer the easiest thing to do is just to turn the IR off. (System Preferences/Security/General)
If you still want to use your computer remote then you must pair your computers remote with the computer AND the Apple TV remote with the Apple TV.
To pair a remote with a device hold down the menu and FF buttons together for six seconds or until you see a chain icon on screen (best take the computer into another room, or turn it off, when you do this)

I have 2 iPod touches for my kids, and I have an iPhone. Both iPods and the iPhone use the same apple id. When an app is downloaded to one of the iPods it automatically installs to the other as well. Why does this happen and how can I stop it?

You must have the automatic download feature of iCloud on the iPod. To turn this off, on the iPod you don't want the apps to automaticly download on, go to Settings-->Store. Under automatic downloads slide the sliders off for the things you don't want to auto download.

Every time I download a file (documents, audio, etc) Firefox for android automatically opens the file when the downlod is completed. I have a mac and when I read my emails, I find that emails are automatically rolled up into one, attaching all the emails under one 'group'. How do I stop this grouping?

I check my emails on my mac, but find that emails which form part of an ongoing discussion, or where I have just clicked Reply to an existing email in my inbox (as opposed to creating a new email from scratch and rekeying an email address or using my contact book) all group together. So when I am looking for en email that I know I received say on a Friday, it will be grouped under another email that I received today, simply because I am emailing that same person - even it is about something entirely different.
Is there a change of settings I can do so that every email appears as a standalone (boring I know but this suits my fling style!)
Any guidance appreciated!

If you go to View Menu in Mail, you can uncheck "Organize by Conversation" - I believe it is checked by default.

TS1468 When I change the album artist name it changes the order of songs, how do I stop this?

The songs downloaded to my iTunes on my Macbook Pro by CD have divided into different albums. Now I have put them into the same album by changing the Album Artist in File- Get Info but the song order changes; this is a problem as a lot of these albums are from Musical Theatre shows and the songs need to be in chronological order to make sense! Please tell me how I can put them into the same album and also keep them in the same order as on the CD.

For a full run down see Grouping tracks into albums. Generally to control the order of tracks within an album you need to use appropriate disc and track numbers. You may also need to change the sort column for the view.
