When i start firefox 4.0, i get a javascript application box coming up saying "TypeError: Components.classes[cid] is undefined" then i need to click ok to start firefox. Once okay is clicked, firefox starts immediately.

This issue can be caused by an extension that isn't working properly.
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
* Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

  • When I open Firefox, the browser does not open. Instead I get a small window that says: TypeError: Components.classes[cid] is undefined. How do I fix this?

I tried to uninstall AVG antiviral software, but it did not uninstall. Next, when I try to open Firefox I get a box popup that says:
    TypeError: Components.classes[cid] is undefined.
If I click OK in that box, I can then open Firefox.
Also I can no longer update Java.
    Help!

Possibly you have "AVG Safe search" extension installed as part of "AVG Free", solution involves reinstalling :AVG Free" without the Link Scanner component see

  • When I enter any site, including Mozilla, I get a message that says "TypeError: Components.classes[cid] is undefined" I have to "x" that message to enter.

This also applies to opening links within sites. I do this several hundred times a day in my work and it happens every time.

That indicates that you are using an add-on that is not compatible with Firefox 4. For details of how to troubleshoot this to find out what one is causing the problem see https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes

  • Since installing Firefox 4, I keep getting this message "TypeError: Components.classes[cid] is undefined" when a window should open. Also print and print preview don't work properly anymore.

Since installing the newest version of Firefox, This message "TypeError: Components.classes[cid] is undefined" appears in a box when a new window should open. Also, what you see in print print preview is not what prints.

This type of error is usually caused by an add-on you are using that is not compatible. It could be anything from an antivirus link scanner like AVG Safe Search add-on, or McAfee Site Advisor add-on, or something similar. To confirm what add-on is causing this use the procedure in this link:
    https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes
Try Disabling the last add-on that was installed prior to upgrading to version 5.0
Check and tell if its working.

  • I am getting an error message when I open Firefox 5 (Win.Vista) "TypeError:Components.classes[cid] is undefined." How can I get rid of this? Thank you.

Only started since the upgrade. Windows Vista Home 32 bit.
    The error message reads:
    "TypeError:Components.classes[cid] is undefined."

Try the suggested idea above. I just disabled all the add-ons which were not compatible with FF 5 and did a FF restart. That fixed the problem. I then enabled each one, one at a time, with a FF restart until the problem came back. I then disabled that add-on.

  • What can I do about this: After upgrading to firefox 6, I get this error. TypeError: Components.classes[cid] is undefined???

What can I do about this:
After upgrading to firefox 6, I get this error.
When I click to open Firefox, A box open with the following error:
    JAVASCRIPT Application
    TypeError: Components.classes[cid] is undefined?
After I click close on the box, then Firefox will start. I really just want to get the error fixed so that when I want firefox open, I don't have to see this box anymore.

You need to figure out which add-on is causing that error and disable it until the developer of that add-on fixes it. There may be an error message about that in the Error Console, accessed through the Web Developer menu item or through {Ctrl + Shft + J}.
