When I start my mac book pro the screen flashes on and off and then a blue color before it open to the log in screen. Sometime a program will shot down buy it's self without me clicking the quit button. Help?!

If you keep getting a 'red' message it means that the HDD is faulty and will have to be replaced. You will have to format the new HDD in Disk Utility>Erase and then install the OSX and your data from Time Machine.

Check the Disk Utility. If the drive shows up there, repair or erase it. If not, it's either become unplugged or is dead.

Why do all the windows open when i start my mac book pro up

After closing all the windows on my macbook pro , i shut the computer down, on re-starting the computer it opens all the wuindows up again

Steve, are you closing the individual windows are quiting the programs? Do you have the box checked that says to open windows on restart? You should see that when you log out.

Reinstall Snow Leopard without erasing the drive
1. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
2. Reinstall Snow Leopard
If the drive is OK then quit DU and return to the installer. Proceed with reinstalling OS X. Note that the Snow Leopard installer will not erase your drive or disturb your files. After installing a fresh copy of OS X the installer will move your Home folder, third-party applications, support items, and network preferences into the newly installed system.
Download and install Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1.

Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. That is probably a lot of stuff you do not want on your iPhone. So this can be handled a few different was. For you current situation, you can delete the apps directly on your iPhone by holding on the app until it starts to jiggle and then tap on the X of all the apps that you do not want. The second thing you can do is before you sync with iTunes, look at the app section on your iPhone to know what gets transfer to it and you can deselect items that you do not want. Lastly, if you download content on your iPad and it is a universal app, you can actually download it directly to your iPhone by looking at your past purchases and download it directly from the App Store. Open a Finder window. If you see your Time Capsule in the "Shared" section of the sidebar, clicking on it should show the "Data" volume (or whatever you named it) in the main part of the window. Double-click on it to mount the "Data" volume.

I to use iphoto library manager to save corrupted iphoto and each time it saves some and the first time it brings up iphoto, iphone goes into "not responding" mode. Using mac book pro, iphoto 9.5.1, and maverick 10.9.2.

Do you have a back up?
If you're just trying to recover the photos you can do that much more simply:
Go to your Pictures Folder and find the iPhoto Library there. Right (or Control-) Click on the icon and select 'Show Package Contents'. A finder window will open with the Library exposed.
Look there for a Folder called 'Originals' or 'Masters'. (varies according to the version of iPhoto)
Your photos are inside - these are the originals as imported from your camera.

You probably got the correct advice. A trip to the Apple store genius bar is the best option.

It shows the backup as a file and shows various system info. but there are no photos or other files shown.

A PowerPC Mac, if that's what it is, won't be able to see an Intel Mac's formatted data. Also ExFat formatting is not supported by 10.6.3 or earlier. I would try viewing the backup on another Intel Mac with at least 10.6.4. If it isn't there, then the backup never really took place. I much profer a hard drive with Carbon Copy Cloner.

I have had my mac-book pro for almost a year, and have just got OSX Mavericks, and now the sound on my laptop is working in a sporadic way, can I change this at all on system preferences or will I have to get it repaired?

In addition to checking system preferences/sound/output and selecting built in if that does not work, make sure volume is up and mute not checked.
You can try the following, Take a set of headphones and plug theim in and out several times (there is a micro switch that sometimes gets stuck)
Go to applications>utilities>Audio MIDI set up, see if you can select built in there, make sure volume is uo mute not checked.
Try a NVRAM/PRAM reset:
Power off, power back on holding the following keys OPTION + COMMAND + P + R
Continue to hold these keys till you hear the start chime 2 times, then release,reboot
