When I start up, EVERY application launches. How do I disable this?

I have a new macbook air: runs OSX lion.
I think this began after I installed MS office, or at the very least, has gotten worse since I installed it. There may or may not be any correlation. I have checked the preferences for all the MS office aps as well as the mac system prefs. The 'launch at startup' only has skype and itunes helper aps in it, and both are turned off, yet both still open upon startup, along with every other ap on the computer. Any suggestions?

A new 'feature' of Lion is auto-resume. When you shut down your computer (or log out) a dialog box appears asking if you want to launch the programs that are currently running when you restart. The default checkmark is to auto resume and you must change the answer if you don't want them to auto-resume.
Further, by default, the Dock no longer display a little light to indicate which programs are running so when you look at the Dock you might think nothing is running.

Front panel of a vi pops up when i start my top level vi how can i stop this

i have a vi that whos front panel should display when the user clicks a front panel button(test instructions),
however this vi pops up when i run the top level vi. I can manually close the vi, but how do i stop this?
i tried modifying the Sub VI Set up properties, but that doesnt work.

Hi jknapp,
As egraham has pointed out, you can customize the window appearance of your sub VI from the VI Properties. If you go to File » VI Properties, then under Category select Window Appearance and then Customize..., you should be able to control how the sub VI appears. Hope this helps!

I want to get rid of the newtab as my start page (homepage selected in options, but does not pan out)
and it comes up with every link. I tried about :config/ about:newtab to about:blank. now it is WORSE because it is now the homepage too.

Go to about:config, and search for 'newtab'. On 'browser.newtab.url', set the value to about:newtab. This is the default value.
If this doesn't work, try resetting Firefox. All of your data will be saved, and Firefox will be reset to the defaults. [[Reset Firefox – easily fix most problems]]

Do you have a memory card in a card reader on the printer? If so remove it.

Reprocess every d40 raw file on every application launch

Aperture 3.1.1 reprocesses every nikon d40 raw in the library, at every application launch. I can stop it manually of course but all the files will then show "was processed using an earlier version of aperture". Needless to say this is an anoying if not unacceptable behaviour.
Is there a way around it?

I'm getting this bell sound. It's not a system sound, more like a cash register 'kerchinggg'. I recently changed my home page, but Ican't see any reference to it on the new page "www.broadsheet.ie'.
I'm not sure if it happens every time. For instance, deleting the cache, quitting Safari and relaunching doesn't bring it up.

It could be that the CD player will only playback "Redbook" CD's from the previous position.
And starts mp3 type CD's from the beginnig.
However.. it's not Logic related.

The default about:home page in Firefox 4 doesn't give such features. You can set the home page to http://www.google.ca to get that possibility. The results page has a "Pages from Canada" link in the side menu at the left.

When I'm on an email FF stops me from linking to other pages/sites. Requires that I press Allow. This started recently. How do I disable this annoying feature?

When I am reading an email that I received and want to follow a link in that email, FF prevents me from doing so. It shows a new pane informing me that FF has prevented me from following the link. If I click the "Allow" button in the upper left-hand corner, I am then linked through.
This does not happen when I am on a particular website. In that case I have no trouble navigating the indicated links.
FF Preferences does not give me a way to disable this annoying feature that slows me down.
This problem started recently - possibly the last two weeks. It recurs whenever I use FF.

Have you tried restarting or resetting your iPad?
Restart: Press On/Off button until the Slide to Power Off slider appears, select Slide to Power Off and, after the iPad shuts down, then press the On/Off button until the Apple logo appears.
Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10 seconds). Ignore the "Slide to power off"

Try this - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)

T61 - turns off after a Memory Upgrade when I start an 3D application

I have replaced in my T61p Notebook the original Memory 1x2GB PC2-5300 with 2 Kingston KTL-TP667/2GB modules. Now, the Bios see 4 GB and Windows see 3GB. That is OK.
My Problem: When I start an 3D application like Futuremark, the Notebook switch after a few seconds off. No error, no Warning, the screen goes blank and the Notebook turns off. The Problem obtains also when I mix my configuration with the original Module and one of the new ones from Kingston.
Only the configuration with one 2GB Memory (Original or Kingston) will work.
Has someone an resolution for my Problem?

this is a known problem in the T61p which have problems using 2 x 2 gigs of ram when you are using graphics intensive programs. I don't know if there is a fix out yet for this problem.
