HT4972 Problems when I tried to update my IPAD 1 to iOS 5.1.1

I tried to updated my IPAD 1 to the most current iOS 5.1.1 update and now my IPAD has frozen. I even restored the IPAD twice and it never goes back to the startup screen. It is just locked up showing the apple and the progress bar which did not move in over 8 hours of waiting. I am not sure what to do next since I try to reboot the IPAD and it just goes back to the screen with the Apple and the progress bar that doesn't move. Does anyone have an idea of what to do? Now I can't do anything with it.

I have been trying to update my iPad to IOS5 ALL DAY LONG!

It stays on "backing up" for hours. I've cancelled and started over 4 times since 10am. Help! It took overnight to update my iphone 4 to the ios5, but it's not moving past "backing up" for the iPad at all. It is now 11:51pm, 12 hours I've been trying to update my iPad. After I cancelled, I rebooted the computer each time then started over. It's getting ridiculous. I hope someone can help me with this! Please and Thank you.

Um, this makes no sense. The binary is already on the device, it came directly from Apple so I'm not sure where the hold up is. I guess it depends on what is exactly "Verifying update ..." is. I always believed it was about checking to ensure the binary was proper; not sure why it has to call back to Apple servers in that case.
It's super annoying. Apple really needs to fix this problem. Especially when one has to leave and needs to take their devices with them...
Last time this happened, all I had to do was connect to iTunes and the issue cleared out immediately and updated.

I downloaded 5 to my itunes. When I tried to update my iPad 2 it extracted the informaion and then when it tried to restore the iPad, I got an error message saying that my iPad malfunctioned, it went into recovery mode, and it would not restore.

When I downloaded (on PC) the new 5 it crashed my iPad 2. I worked for two days to get it to stop the malfuction, went to the apple store for four hours, iPad crashed again, got a new one, new iPad crashed when I tried to restore my back up. Down loaded iTunes to an employees computer, I was able to restore iPad to factory settings but my itunes account is on my office computer and now I am afraid to plug it into my computer. I did delete the back up as maybe that is currupt and making it crash??? Any body know about this?

This is Linda again. The new iPad actually as not restored on my employees computer. I thought it was working. Message said the device is in recovery mode and can not be restored. I have been at the Apple store for a total of 6 hours and on the phone with support for at least 4 hours. And now the replacement has crashed??? Has this happened to any one else?

After updating to IOS8, I lost all my photos in photo stream?

So i just updated to IOS8 just an hr ago, i checked my photos, only the ones originally in my cameras are still there, the ones in my photo stream are all gone. is there a way to get it back? Since i only have photo streamed opened on my phone i dont have any other devices that have my older photos. I was fine with recently added and recently deleted but at least have all my pictures there. I personally dont like the fact that you have to go to collections now for all your photos it makes finding photos so much harder. what do you guys think? opinions?
And if anyone know a way to get my photos back from the old photo stream, please let me know!

Did you check backups in your preferences? (Windows-edit>preferences, devices Mac-iTunes>preferecnes>devices)
If no manual backups are stored there, you could check different places on your computer, such as windows contacts or address book, to see if they were stored there.

I have an iPhone 4, iPad2, and sync with MacBook Pro (Mac S X (10.7.2)

On the iPhone and iPad tap Settings > iCloud
Toggle Photo Stream off then back on then restart the devices.
Hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button down until the red slider appears. Slide your finger across the slider to turn off iPhone. To turn iPhone back on, press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
On the Mac open System Preferences > iCloud
Deselect the box next to Photo Stream, then reselect then restart the Mac.
Hopefully that willl sync the photos on all your devices.

You have the files on your computer? If so, then just get them back into iTunes and sync them back onto your iPad. You can use the books part of iTUnes, or if you reader app has a data transfer option, use that to sync them back onto your device.
