When I try to click on a download link for a .pdf file Firefox does not recognize the MIME type and tries to download the file as "index.php"

When visiting a site I frequent I tried to download a linked .pdf file. Previously I've used Firefox 7.0.1 to download the link with no problem. Using Firefox 8 however I the browser does not recognize the .pdf link's mime type. Instead of recognizing the download link as a .pdf file Firefox 8 tries to download it as "index.php". Firefox 8 does this with .doc files and .txt files as well. When I downgrade to 7.0.1 again the problem disappears.

I'd try starting Firefox in [[Safe Mode]]. If you don't have the issue while all of your add-ons, extensions, and themes are disabled, you can try adding them back in one by one until you find the culprit. You should look at the [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Troubleshooting-extensions-themes Extensions and Themes troubleshooting guide ] and the [[Troubleshooting plugins]] article as well.

Thanks for your quick answert, I tried your link but to no previal, I sut sit and wait for the browser (IE & Firefox) to answer, the green line just runs slowly to the right, nothing else happens.

Every webserver that receives a request from your browser is able to determine the HTTP USER AGENT information unless it has been removed by some software (e.g. firewall) before the request was trasmitted.

No. Safari does not have the option to attach files for uploading other than photos.
Look at iCab Mobile in the App Store. There are other browsers that may do this, but I'm pretty sure that iCab will fill the need.

In the iPhoto preferences ==> accounts delete the account and re-enter it - sometimes that resolves this
Or IMHO the best long term solution is to set Apple Mail as the iPhoto e-mail client in the iPhoto preferences and use it - it has a number of advatages and has fewer problems

Your advice did not help me. I also installed 10.7.4 combo but the situation is the same.

I have reset my iphone and made sure all updates have been done on my macbook pro and iphone. I went to the troubleshooting page and did all of the steps they listed: uninstalled iTunes, deleted by Temp files, even disabled AVG while I downloaded again and tried to install. I still get the same message. If anyone can help me, I would really appreciate it!

I downloaded Firefox 4. Now when I try to open it keeps telling me I need to reboot my computer. I have done this and continue to get the same message. I also cannot delete from my programs in order to reinstall.
