When I try to connect a monitor with a thunderbolt to hdmi from the back of my thunderbolt monitor nothing happens. When I plug in the cable directly to my Mac mini it works great... Any idea this isn't working?

Well pretty much the title sums it up, but I'm required to type something here so here is some words. (Please excuse frantically errors since I'm working from my phone).

You can't connect a non-Thunderbolt display or adapter directly to the port on the back of a Thunderbolt display.  It will work if you connect a Thunderbolt disk drive (with two Thunderbolt ports) between the two displays.
