When I try to connect to the web using the larest version of firefox, it tells me the Proxy Server is refusing connection. When I reinstall an earlier verion it seems to work fine!!! What's the Problem?
Downloaded Latest version 3 6.?? .12
Next time I tried to connect to the Web the Proxy server refuses connection & tells me to reconfigure my settings.
I reinstalled the older version, which worked OK, then uploaded the latest version again & it does the same thing when I log off & try to reconnect!

My web proider is Verizon Fios. I've contacted Verizon 4 times about this. I was instructed to delete Firefox and then download again. It didn't help. I'm able to get to your main window. Then, when I try to go to any website, the following window comes up: "The proxy server is refusing connections. Firefox is configured to use a proxy server that is refusing connections. It tells me to "Check the proxy settings to make sure that they are correct." I tried that w/ my Verizon support person but how is one to know what "settings" are "correct"? Finally the window instructs: "Contact your network administrator to make sure the proxy server is working." Who would my "network administrator" be? It wasn't Verizon as they told me they don't support Mozilla.

I believe the update caused this error EVERYTIME I open up firefox. I already know how to disable it since I looked it up. I went to Tools> Options> Advance> Network> Settings> and then the four options including "No proxy" which I've chosen so far. I have tried all four options (except manual, because this causes the error), and every one, but manual, solves it. But my real problem is that every time I close and open up firefox again, the option resets back to "Manual proxy configuration" and I have to choose "no proxy" again.
I opened up Safari to see if it works, and it does work. I think only firefox is affected with the error. I also tried re-installing firefox but didn't work.Well, the problem is no longer there.. Now I have a different problem.. My firefox no longer looks like the way I customized it before. It's bare and minimal.. not too sure if this is the default look, but that doesn't bother me much. The prob is after that changed, I can't seem to view youtube or dailymotion videos anymore on firefox. Video viewing is working on Google Chrome, however. It asked me to update my adobe flash player to view, but I already did. What should I call my previous problem? And should I post this new problem in a different thread? -

It is important that you keep IE updated. The information included with your question, indicates that you are using IE7; you should update to IE8 for your own protection. IE9 will not be made available for Windows XP.

My computer has 2 users on here. Under my username when I try to go on the internet I get a pop up that say "The proxy server is refusing connections. Firefox is configured to use a proxy server that is refusing connection." I have tried going into my control panel under internet options and changing my LAN setting to automatic and that did not work. I also tried to place where is searches for the proxy and I am unable to connect on y user. I can switch users and go under my daughters and then I am able to connecto to the internet.If you have problems with updating or with the permissions then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.

I have uninstalled firefox and reinstalled firefox with no difference.
I tried all that stuff and none of it helped. I can't load any of the google applications in firefox now. They pop up with this screen.
