When I try to download an app it says I need to update to ios 6.0 or higher but when I try to update it says there is no update available
Can someone please help me with this?

Sorry. There's nothing anyone can do. The current version of the facebook app will not run on 4.2.1. The iPhone 3G won't run anything higher than 4.2.1. You're stuck.
Maybe it's time to buy yourself a new iPod Touch. -
i am trying to sync an ipad to a power mac g5. i bought and upgraded to osx 10.5 and have tried to download and 10.5.6 or higher, but i keep getting same message: "you cannot install mac os x update on this volume. this volume does not meet requirements for this update". help!

To me, in all such updates, goes without saying maybe: backup, repair permissions, repair your drive (Disk Warrior does more reliable and thorough job, and it comes out to pennies if you don't wait until needed). Clone your system so you can restore or use the backup - just in case.
I'd even do a fresh format after your clone is done and do a full OS clean install and update, and then a quick import from Setup Assistant.

I'm going to assume there is something with the partitions on the drive, partition table most likely, though I know I've seen others with that error message - doesn't really point to cause, rarely does (make sure latest firmware update etc is sometimes included but again, we know that isn't why). -

How do I fix this problem?
- What happens when you connect the iPod to a computer with iTunes and try to restore the iPod?
- I am confused. First you say the screen says to connect to itunes and then you say the the iPod does not turn on. Does the iPod screen still show the connect to iTunes?

I am using PC, Windows 7, updated to iTunes11.0.
purchased an app from iPad Mini for free, and then when I open iTunes in windows, it automatically try to download the app, and freezes.
I am not sure what is the problem behind, but the crashes certainly slows down my computer ( i7 quad core, with 3GB ram, after crashing it is slower than a P4 computer....)
Is it possible to Not Sync the app into itunes?Did you manage to get it working mine disappeared after I while I managed to download it but now my laptop/iTunes won't recognise my iPhone!

My friend just sold me her ipad she got Jan 2013. The software says its up to date with iOS5.1.1, but when i try to download certain app it tells me I need to update to iOS6.0 or later but when i go to the setting there are no updates. so how do I add these apps? The person i bought it from doesnt know what generation becuase it was a present to her.
The way you download older apps for the older, original iPad 1, as I understand it, is if you have iTunes installed on a computer, you purchase / download the new, current app, in the iOS App Store in iTunes on your computer. Then, go back to your iPad and go to the App Store app on your iPad and find the same app there and download it.
When You select app to update/download, a message pop-up window appears asking if you want to download the last compatible version for your device (if one still exists ) tap OK and that should be it. -

Settings > iTunes and App store > Apple ID = Sign Out... Then Sign In using the preferred Apple ID.
It should be Noted that anything Downloaded with a Particular Apple ID is tied to that Apple ID and Cannot be Merged or Transferred to a Different Apple ID. -

(I think the daughter got he better end of the deal!) I believe if you change the password and user id one of the devices it will stop that from occurring. But I'm not the one to tell you how to do it; someone like "Illaass" (Illaass seems to know how to correct / fix almost anything!) will know how if you don't. Just look for the "cat" icon.

I got an 15 dollar iTunes card for Christmas. I took a picture of the card code to redem the card I accomplished that but when I try to download an app that cost money it asks me two security questions that I forgot the awnsers to. Than I click the forgot security questions than it sends it to my email but that's the problem I do not get any email.
You need to ask Apple to reset your security questions; ways of doing so include clicking here and picking a method for your country, and filling out and submitting this form.

It says I'm logged into my Apple ID on my App Store but when I try to download an app it comes up with my mums Apple ID asking for her password yet I have never used her email or Apple ID to login in? Could this be cause we have back up on same comp?

II've just created a new apple Id & account but when I try to download an app the box that appears on your I pad defaults back to my old apple id to which I had to close down as this was a mail address that got hacked.
how do I change this to show my new account? I presumed that once new id had been created then this should of updated automatically.Good luck. It took me weeks to fix this when I had to do it. Your old ID branches out in lots of places. You may have to delete app and get them again, at least that is what Apple told me. Plus, all of your settings on your iPad that required any ID, will have to be changed. My old ID kept showing up in different places for weeks. Changing it on Apple.com is just the beginning.

I need help on how to download the ios 4.3. to my iphone 3gs. What version of iOS are you running? I'm going to bet that you do NOT have a 3Gs. You have a 3G. The highest version of iOS that can run is 4.2.1.
If you did not save a copy of the older facebook at that could run on 4.2.1 on your computer that you can sync back, then you're out of luck. The newest version (and the only one available in the app store) will not run on 4.2.1.
You will have to resort to using the mobile web page in Safari or find a 3rd party app that will run on your phone.
