When I import raw files from my Nikon D600 into Aperture I get a tryangle sign with "unsupported image format"

Latest Adobe DNG converter (7.2) DOES indeed convert NEF pictures coming from a D600.
Head up to Adobe's website and download the app.
You'll only miss the focus information (focus distance and focus sensors used), but you'll be able to work with raw and not rely on jpg only!

my raw files go to unsupported file format when I load them in. Sony RX 100 camera shooting RAW had for one year. Never happened before.
Can only load the files in by running them trhough Adobe Camera RAW first and loading them as TIFFS into Aperture. JPEGs form the Sony load into Aperture just fine. Have repaired datebase, permissions ect but no change. Aperture 3.4.5 on a Power Mac. Whats up? Anyone know?

You mention that 'most' of your files are DNG. Try
running the effected files through Adobe DNG
converter again and then import your reprocessed
files to Aperture and see if the problem persists.
I had a problem with a batch of D2x files converted
to DNG which had been metadata tagged by
    PhotoMechanic (the evil app).
B.T.W. You mention that you had been using Bridge.
Are you getting any of the embedded XMP metadata
coming into Aperture during the import process?
Already tried that multiple times...no luck. I'm wondering though if it might be related to metadata as you suggest. I'm still trying different things to see what happens.
I was able to alleviate the problem on one set of images by painstakingly searching my external drive for the oldest backups I could find - CR2 files from before DNG conversion. I then ran those through DNG Converter and tried importing them again (this time, I embedded NO thumbnail, but I'm not sure if that made the difference - I think it was more likely a fluke in the original conversion that caused the problem). This time, it worked.
Now, the big problem is that I still have a couple hundred images for which I can't seem to locate the original CR2 files. I don't typically keep them after conversion, as I don't have the space for both.

A possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

Ok, the issue seem to be solved. The problem was this:
The many hundred files (raw and xmp per image) have been downloaded by ftp in no specific order. Means - a couple of files in the download queue - both raw and xmps. Most of the time, the small xmp files have been finished loading first and hence the "last change date" of these xmp files was OLDER than the "last change date" of the raw file - Lightroom then seem to ignore the existence of the xmp file and does not read it during import.(a minute is enough to run into the problem)
By simply using the ftp client in a way that all large raw files get downloaded first followed by the xmp files, we achieved that all "last changed dates" of the xmp files are NEWER than the related raw files. (at least not older)
And then LR is reading them and all metadata information has been set / read correctly.
    So this is solved.

  • Unrecognized File Format when importing:

Hi, I have an older Canon Rebel XT (It does not shoot in RAW format-that's how old it is). I have had no problems importing to iPhoto until recently. Now iPhoto imports just some of my images & gives me an error msg saying the rest are an "unrecognized file format". They are all hi-res RGB jpegs w/ '.JPG' suffix. I am not using any camera effects or B&W settings. I am using iPhoto 8.1.2. I replaced the memory card, thinking it might be corrupt, but I still get the msg. All images import fine to my MacBook (running 10.6.6), but I'd really like to be able to import them to my iMac which has much more HD space. Any help would be appreciated.

    As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?

  • I lost all my passwords from the previous version of Firefox when I upgraded to Firefox 4. I have all the files. Is there any way to import them into Firefox 4?

Typically, when I have upgraded a program, all of the bookmarks, passwords, etc. have transferred to the newest version but, for some reason that did not happen with Firefox 4. I still have all my preferences files as they were moved to the trash. Is there any way I can import them back into the new version of Firefox as it is very frustrating to have lost them.

If you used the option to delete settings, or whatever it is worded when uninstalling, Firefox will remove all your important data information from profiles for all installed versions of Firefox, and you will then need luck and a file recovery utility to try to restore the information.
You mentioned files being moved to Trash, I was hoping you may still have the required original files. I use Windows XP, and I realise Macs use different locations for files, but I think the files have the same names.

Note the last article discusses problems when bookmarks are lost, and some of the possible reasons and solutions. Obviously I do not know what has actually happened in your case, and whether or not you used the delete option I initially mentioned.

  • Losing formatting when importing rtf file

    Hello and please help!
Having just laid out 2 volumes of a 3 volume set via cutting & pasting and manually re-introducing formatting, I have been told in no uncertain terms (not by an expert, I add) that I can preserve everything by using rtf. I've tried this before & it failed. The original document is a Word file, which has been imported into Pages by my Mac. When I save it as an rtf and then place it, all formatting and font choices are removed, leaving me with dense text in Time Roman, when the rtf is in Ehrhardt.  Given that ongoing changes are being made to various editorial decisions, line spaces etc, the document has to be reformatted anyway, but if there is a way to import the volume 3 in such a way, I'd be really happy to know about it. Following the Adobe instructions has got me nowhere (could well be me though!). I've checked the import options and went for the preserve text.
I'm using InDesign CC, working off a Mac.
    Thanks!

If I open the rtf in TextEdit, all the formatting is there.
This is an example of the panel I see (hardly legible, but hopefully it looks vaguely familiar). I'm wondering if there is a campatibility issue, but I am getting all sorts of grief from this individual who knows nothing about typesetting but has been told something by someone else, although it all relates to Word!

mp3 is an audio file descriptor, not a video file type

It's the level of compression. Lower number, more aggressive compression, more visual artifacts.
Aside from that you should never use jpeg as a working format. The compression is destructive and cumulative, and the file deteriorates every time you resave it.
Use TIFF or PSD, and if you need jpeg save out a copy as a single final step.

    Hi
Thanks this has helped me solve the problem.
I used the Outlook Anywhere connectivity tester you suggested. Selected Outlook autodiscover.
It told me that it could not resolve things on any of the 4 tests.
I saw that using the last test "Attempting to contact the Autodiscover service using the DNS SRV redirect method", was the only one likely to work in my case.
I had already changed 3 entries in dns to point at my DDNS address but this had not worked, from the errors I could see that it was just the certificate name not matching so I changed the DNS entries for Autodiscover, autoconfig and _autodiscover._tcp
to be webmail.domain.com which is a CNAME to my ddns address for the broadband router, which in turn forwards ports 80 and 443 to the exchange server for owa and activesync access. I got an error message saying that I had an illegal entry in my SRV record
as a CNAME is not allowed, but it saved the change anyway.
I reran the test and it worked.I can now make new outlook clients attach teo exchange.
Thank you, after 8 hours yesterday of trying to reolve this I suddnely got it to work on one laptop but the other still would not and had lost track of what I could have changed so had no idea what actually made it work.
    Thank you for your suggestion.

  • Subreport shows no images nor formatting when invoked from the portal

    Hi,
I am not 100% sure if this is the right forum, but my problem is related to running subreports on the portal.
    We run OracleAS 10gR2 (10.1.2).
I have some reports I created with the builder. They are "registered" on the Portal, i.e., I have created report access definition files.
My reports server is defined to run not only registered reports.
Actually the report access definition files do not contain the file name for the reports. I rather handle it through the ORACLE_HOME/reports/conf/cgicmd.dat and set the corresponding hidden key in the parameter form.
On the developer PCs, running the standalone OC4J instance, we have ORACLE_HOME/reports/conf/cgicmd.dat files with entries of the shape:
    master: report=master_report.jsp userid=scott/tiger@mydb destype=cache %*
    detail: report=detail_report.jsp userid=scott/tiger@mydb destype=cache %*
On the application server we have a SSOCONN resource scotttiger defined as an OracleDB connect string (scott/tiger@mydb), and the cgicmd.dat entries show:
    master: report=master_report.jsp ssoconn=scotttiger destype=cache %*
    detail: report=detail_report.jsp ssoconn=scotttiger destype=cache %*
The master_report.jsp has format triggers that will invoke srw.set_hyperlink('/reports/rwservlet?detail_report.jsp&...'), for linking to the subreport(s).
This used to work perfectly and it still works on the standalone OC4J instance.
Now, if I run the master report on the portal and navigate to the detail report, the detail report shows the right results, but neither formatting nor the images or graphs. When I do a 'show image' on the subreport, then I get a REP-50171: Authentication failed. On ther address bar, I see that the portal is invoking 'http://server:port/reports/rwservlet/getfile/HW/...'
On the reports trace file, nothing abnormal is shown. I haven't found any entry in any log and am already out of ideas.
    Any hint will be appreciated.

    I fixed it myself.
The reason was I had a parameter p_authid that conflicted with the portal's parameter authid.
As soon as I removed it, the problem disappeared
I personally think this is a bug in the portal.
