When I try to open Adobe Reader, it just opens a gray page and then closes by itself. This also applies to any pdf files I try to access; they'd all follow the same pattern: Gray page-->automatically closes after 2 to 3 seconds time. I have tried accessing the Eula.exe via C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Reader 11.0\Reader, however, the only available button for me to click is the "Decline" button and not the "Accept" license agreement. I have version 6.0. I downloaded the latest version. When I move the icon to the applications folder I get a message asking if I wish to replace the older version. When I say yes, I get a message saying I don't have "sufficient privileges for some of the items."

It is better to download a new copy of the Firefox program from:

Trash the current Firefox application to do a clean reinstall.
Install the new version that you have downloaded.
(your profile data is stored elsewhere in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Firefox Profile Folder], so you won't lose bookmarks or other personal data).

Uninstall Reader. Use the Microsoft Installer Cleanup Tool. They try re-installing Reader 9.2

Just to say I am having exactly the same issue on my MacBook Air. I can't remember what I did but after this happened a few times, and once I had clicked on the Japanese pop up, I managed to do something that now means I get the pop up in English, saying 'Adobe Reader blocked for this website'. When I click on it it asks me to trust the content and then I get a bar with the text in Japanese. Eventually the pdf does open. However it's very irritating that I have to trust every pdf individually which I never had to do before the latest upgrade, and I don't understand why I get messages in Japanese. I will be interested to see whatever answers other more technical people may provide!

Have you opened Photoshop or any other Adobe app that Bridge works with? You need to do this if you've upgraded PS or just signed up for CC.

Go to Apple and look for the Java for OSX 2014-001 link. Download from there and install it.

I have the same problem as Pam101. I am on OS X 10.9 and Safari 7 (actually on 2 iMacs). The one iMac is fine but the other with the same versions and settings Adobe Reader will not work. What happens is the Adobe Reader icon appears on the dock, bounces once and that's it. When trying to open a .pdf file from a website a new tab is opened on Safari, the background is black and there is a pop up message (black test on a white background) that reads: "Adobe PDF Before proceeding you must first launch Adobe Acrobat and accept the End User License Agreement." This is all very well but if Adobe Reader will not launch how on earth is it possible to accept the End User License Agreement terms?
