When I try to open itunes I get a message that says:
the itunes library extras.itdb file is locked, on a locked disk, or you do not have write permission for this file.
No matter what I do I can't get into itunes to synch my phone.
I presume you resolved this issue? If so, how did you resolve it I wonder?
If not, (and for others searching for solutions to their same problem) go to Music/ iTunes folder, delete iTunes Library Extras.itdb, and iTunes Library Genius.itdb files. Then restart iTunes.

When I go to open Itunes, I get a message saying "Itunes has detected a problem with your audio configuration. Audio/Video playback may not work properly. Sounds like you created a "Reference" file here. I.e., a "Reference" file is a file that tells the player how to play the data contained in a "Resource" file. When you try to open the "Reference" file in the QT Player app, the first thing the player does is check to see if the "Resource" data file is is still available where it is supposed to be. (I.e., moving/deleting the resource file or moving reference file without moving the resource file to maintain the relative path between the two will generate the error message you mentioned.)

That depends. Deleting a file does not actually erase the data immediately. Instead, the operating system just tells the system directory that the space containing the movie data is available for reuse if/when needed. As time passes, the chance that some of the data sectors will be re-written by other data continuously increases. To restore the file normally requires use of a special utility that both locates and restores all of the linked sectors containing the "deleted" movie data in their correct order. Other methods of restoring files would depend on the software you routinely have active on your system. For instance, do you use "TimeMachine?" or orther software that automatically backs up your data periodically? If so, then follow the instructions for your particular application to recover a deleted file. -
The information box pops up when I click on my desktop icon for firefox as well as if I try to access it in other ways. I have restarted my computer. I have tried removing firefox and redownloading it. No matter what I do, it still gives me a box saying it is already running, but not responding. When I pull up my taks bar, it is not running! I can't close it as the box suggests because it is not open to do it. I just keep getting a box saying it is already running no matter what I try to do, even though it is not running.
I have tried everything I could to fix this, but some things require actually being on Firefox, and since I cannot get on, I cannot click on the tabs to do it. I have even totally uninstalled firefox, and that has not fixed this. I still get the same message that firefox is running and I need to close it or restart (which I have also tried dozens of times). I have removed things like Java, and that has not helped either. If I cannot even get on line in firefox, how can I fix this. I am not crazy about using internet explorer, but right now, it is my only option. I even tried to start in safe mode, and the same message box pops up!

I was able to install and have an icon on my desktop. When i click on it it automatically pops a box up that says: Firefox has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available. Then it highlights an icon at the bottom to show what the problem is and it is DEP (data execution prevention. I tried a few suggestions there but it didn't work. So it said to see if there is a download version compatable with DEP

Sounds like Firefox is "hanging at exit". That problem is frequently caused by an Extension or a Plugin. Read all of the following articles.<br /><br />

Try updating your QuickTime to the most recent version. Does that clear up the DEP errors in iTunes?

I had a new hard drive fitted to my imac and restored it from my time machine back up on an external hard drive when I try to open itunes I get this message "the itunes library extras.itdb file is locked, on a locked disk, or you do not have write permission for this file"
To solve this issue all I did was check to ensure that the file permissions were set as described by the earlier posts, followed by simply deleting the iTunes Library Genius.itdb file. Once the file was deleted I was able to open iTunes without difficulty. Note that I am running Windows 8. Hope this helps!

I recently transfered everything from my emac to another one but now when I try to open iTunes I get the window that states: The file "iTunes Library" cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of iTunes. The computer I transfered to had a bunch of files on it and I got full ownership of what was already there, so, how do I get to my iTunes library, I do have access as an administrator to the iTunes library (that works just fine) already there and I guess I must have had a newer version ofiTunes on my defunt eMac....
Tell us some version numbers please, of your Mac OS versions and iTunes versions on both computers (two eMacs yes?).
