When I try to print iphoto crops my photos beyond recognition

I am trying to print off about 40 photos, the normal 3.5x5 size. Since iPhoto no longer offers me the "N-up" option for formatting my photos, I have to put this size print in manually. When I do, it prints all my photos as if they were horizontal photos (instead of just automatically rotating the photo) therefore cropping out most of the picture. Even the horizontal photos seem very cropped to me, cutting off peoples heads and feet that were supposed to be in the picture. This did not used to happen with previous versions of iPhoto. I could probably print the photos one per page, but I do not want to waste the paper or my time with the extra cutting this would involve. Also, pictures that have been cropped to an odd size are always cropped automatically rather than leaving extra margins around the picture like it used to do when I could select the "N-up" option.
is there a way to print off a bunch of photos at once so that I can put them in a photo album without having all my photos horribly cropped automatically?

I found after posting this that several other people had this problem and it was fixed by selecting the size photo I wanted, then going to customize, right clicking the cropped photo and selecting "fit photo to frame size". However, I still had to right click again and select "edit photo" and rotate all the horizontal photos so that they were sideways in order to get the most picture into the size photo I selected. Seems like a huge pain when apple is supposed to be so user-friendly. is there any way I could write to apple and complain about this problem that so many people seem to be having? or is the problem solved in a newer version of iPhoto (I'm using iPhoto '09)

When I try to print a drawing imported from my ipad iphoto crops it. Is there any way to stop this?

Usual cause: printing at the wrong aspect ratio for the image - trying to print 5 x 3 in the shape of a 6 x 4 for instance.

  • When I try to print a photo downloaded from Facebook in iPhoto, I can't get the size I specify to print correctly. Example: 5x7 prints smaller than 5x7. What do I do to solve this problem?

When I try to print a photo downloaded from Facebook in iPhoto, I can't get the size I specify to print correctly. Example: 5x7 prints smaller than 5x7. What do I do to solve this problem?

Those pixel dimemsions have aspect ratios that are not the same as a 5 x7 print:
    1360 x 1360 = 1.0
    790 x 640 = 1.23
    2048 x 1366 = 1.5
    An 7 x 5 image = 1.4.
So you'll need to crop the images to 5 x 7 before printing.  The first two images are a little light in the pixels to produce a high resolution 5 x 7 print.

  • When I try to print a photo from iphoto, I select the photo, click print and the preview shows there is a lot of the photo cut off.  It also prints this way.  How can I print the whole picture?

When I try to print a photo from iphoto, I click print and the preview shows a lot of the photo cut off.  It also prints this way.  How can I print the whole photo?

After selecting File > Print, a pop-up window should appear. Select "Customize" and this should take you back into a panel within iPhoto. Towards the bottom, you should see an option for "Layout". Select this option and choose the correct photo orientation.
    Hope this helps!

    Reinstall.
    To re-install iPhoto
    1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
2a: On 10.5:  Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows:  In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
    /var/db/receipts/
    2c: on 10.7 they're at
    /private/var/db/receipts
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
    3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
If you purchased it on the App Store or have a Recent Mac you can find it in your Purchases List.

  • Iphoto crashes when I try to print - just moved moved iPhoto to my new iMac

I just bought a new iMac and iPhoto crashes when I try to print a picture.  I did port all my programs from my old iMac.

Before anyone can help, they need information to work with. Basic stuff:
    - What version of iPhoto.
    - What version of the Operating System.
    - Details. What were you doing when the problem arose?
    - Did it ever work properly?
    - Are there error messages?
    - What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
Anything else you can think of that might allow someone else to understand your issue.

  • Iphoto freezes when I try to print a picture

Why does iPhoto freeze when I try to print a photo?  I have to force the program closed.

That was a test to determine if the original library was damaged and it was.  You did follow the next step but there's one more fix you can try on your damaged library:
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.>Click on the Add Library button,
2 -  select the library you want to add from those in the selection window.
3 - make sure that in the rebuild window the checkbox  "Scavange orphaned photos" is checked.
4 - now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the Library ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
5 - in the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed. Click on the Create button.
Note 1: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments. However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost.
Note 2:  Your current library will be left untouched for further attempts at a fix if so desired.

  • I updated iPhoto.  Now I get fuzzy photos on computer when I try to print.

I finally took the chance and did an update on my computer and on iPhoto.  When I try to print a perfectly in focus photo it comes out fuzzy.  Also, when I go into an event and click to see one photo it comes up very, very large and I only see a small part of the photo.  Wishing I had left well enough alone.

What exactly did you do? Updating your OS and/or iPhoto does not have any affect on photo resolution
What are the pixel dimensions of one of these photos?

    Mike,
Are any of your other applications going wonky, or is it just Logic?
I'm afraid I've never heard of this particular problem before, but if it were happening to me the first thing I would do is delete my "com.apple.logic.express.plist" file in Library>Preferences, then repair permissions in Disc Utility, and finally restart my computer.  Then I would launch Logic and see if the problem has been corrected.  It's amazing how much these two steps can accomplish.
If that doesn't resolve the issue I would launch Logic and go to Preferences>Audio Units Manager to see if all my plug-ins are properly validated.

  • I photo crashes when I try to print

I upgraded to Leopard and installed iLife 08.
When I try to print photos and click customize so I can choose paper type, size, etc- the app crashes!
The print dialog box looks slightly different from my old version of i photo-but now I can't choose the size, glossy paper or anything.
I am still using my same printer Epson RX500
I can choose these options using Microsoft Word- so it seems like an iPhoto issue.
    Help!

Delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your User/Library/Preferences folder and try again.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
