When I try to reinstall Firefox (as suggested because it now crashed upon trying to open) it says it can't do so because "libsmime3.dylib is busy".

This happened yesterday pretty soon after I'd done my weekly computer restart, and updated a bunch of add ons recommended by Firefox. I've tried numerous times to restart with no success. (I put at the end the error message). I try to follow the suggestion to reinstall and get the message it can't do so because "libsmime3.dylib is busy" I search for libsmime3.dylib but can't find it.
Here's the error message:

I have tried everything I could to fix this, but some things require actually being on Firefox, and since I cannot get on, I cannot click on the tabs to do it. I have even totally uninstalled firefox, and that has not fixed this. I still get the same message that firefox is running and I need to close it or restart (which I have also tried dozens of times). I have removed things like Java, and that has not helped either. If I cannot even get on line in firefox, how can I fix this. I am not crazy about using internet explorer, but right now, it is my only option. I even tried to start in safe mode, and the same message box pops up!

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
    Please note:

This sounds different than with my IOS devices, since I am able to see the photos even with a connection to the Internet.
Do you mean without a connection to the internet? With a connection it's logical you would be able to see the PS.
The following is from iCloud: Photo Stream FAQ
Can photos be saved or downloaded from a shared photo stream?
Yes. Once photos are shared, anyone who can view the shared photo stream can download and keep the photos permanently.
On a device using iOS 6 or later, you can save photos to the Camera Roll. On a Mac, using iPhoto 9.4 or Aperture 3.4, you can save photos from the shared stream to your local Photo Library or any other location on your Mac. On a Windows PC, you can copy photos from a shared photo stream to any folder. On the web, photos can be downloaded directly to your computer from the detail view of each photo.
This tells me that the image files are not on the HD unless the subscriber chooses to download them.

    Hello Devin.
You may be having a problem with some Firefox add-on that is hindering your Firefox's normal behavior. Have you tried disabling all add-ons (just to check), to see if Firefox goes back to normal?
Whenever you have a problem with Firefox, whatever it is, you should make sure it's not coming from one of your installed add-ons, be it an extension, a theme or a plugin. To do that easily and cleanly, run Firefox in [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode safe mode] and select ''Disable all add-ons''. If the problem disappears, you know it's from an add-on. Disable them all in normal mode, and enable them one at a time until you find the source of the problem. See [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes this article] for information about troubleshooting extensions and theme. You can troubleshoot plugins the same way.
If you want support for one of your add-ons, you'll need to contact its author.

  • I had to uninstall Firefox and now when I try to reinstall I keep getting a file is corrupt message, tried different download sites, still happening. Where can I get a good copy?

I was haven't problems so I uninstalled Firefox, then wanted to reinstall. Went to your download site, went through the process, when it finished, it gave me a corrupt file message. I then went to the English (US) link, same thing. Then the English (British), again same thing. Wondering where I can get a non corrupt copy.

    Only download Firefox from Mozilla:
    *http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
If you are having a problem getting a "good" download
*Do not use a download manager when downloading; the download provided with IE is OK
*Your system security settings might be set too high or your AV/AS application might be interfering. See:
    **http://kb.mozillazine.org/Unable_to_save_or_download_files

  • When i try to download firefox i get a popup with user name administrator and looking for apassword

when I try to download firefox I get as far as extracting then I get a popup saying that I may not have the necessary permission to access all the features of the program I get 2 choices 1 to run the program as the current user 2 I am given user name administrator and it looks for a password. When I try a password I get login failed bad password. When I try to run it as current use it will still not download

SAVE the installer to your hard drive (do not use the "Run" option); save it to your Desktop so that you can find it. When the download is complete, close whatever browser you have open, click or double-click the file you downloaded and see if it installs without a problem.
The downloader is a self-extracting archive and should not need or use 7-zip. I have 7-zip installed on my system and it does not interfere with nor is it used in the Firefox install process. Hopefully, you have not set the downloading of .exe files to be associated with 7-zip.

  • When I try to start Firefox, I get a message that it is already running but not responding and I can't run another Firefox at the same time. I uninstalled and reinstalled. No change. Tried various other suggestions. Help!!

When I try to start Firefox, I get a message that it is already running, but not responding and that I should close it before trying to run another Firefox. But I cannot find a way to close Firefox program that is not running as far as I can see. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Firefox, but that did not work. I've tried various other things, but no luck. I thought programs should stop when the computer is turned off, but that didn't work either.

After installing a new version of Firefox, I get the error message "The procedure entry point JS_GetOperationLimit could not be located in the dynamic link library js3250.dll" when I try to start firefox. Elsewhere in the forum a complete reinstall is suggested; however, I can't do that because of my company's IT policies. Is there any way to solve this problem WITHOUT a complete reinstall? Thank you!

  • None of my Firefox icons will open Firefox today. And when I try to reinstall it, the message says Firefox is already open. But I don't see it.

Every morning I click on the Firefox icon and it opens. Today it will not. When I try to reinstall it, a message appears that Firefox is already open. But I cannot see it. Of course I can use Chrome or Internet Explorer (as I'm doing), but I like Firefox. And I also want to know what the problem is ... in case something serious is wrong with my computer.

    Hello,
    * Go to your task manager (right click your task bar and select "Start Task Manager" - http://www.howtogeek.com/108742/how-to-use-the-new-task-manager-in-windows-8/)
    * Check if Firefox is on that list. If it is - select it and End Task.
    * Try opening Firefox again; if it still doesn't open after a while, repeat the above two steps and then try [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode|Firefox Safe Mode]]
** On Windows: Hold the '''Shift''' key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
** When the Firefox Safe Mode window appears, select "Start in Safe Mode".<br>

  • When I try to download firefox I get this error "cannot open output file". I had firefox once but uninstalled it now I cant' reinstall. Why?

I had firefox but uninstalled it because of problems with add on Recipefox. Now when I try to reinstall it I get and error message "cannot open output file". I really liked firefox, How do I get it back?

When you click the download link on [http://getfirefox.com GetFirefox.com], you should be asked if you wish to Run or Save the file. If the described situation happens when trying to Run the download, try instead to Save it and put the file on your Desktop or a similar place where you are certain that you can find it again.
When the download is complete, try double-clicking the downloaded file in the normal Windows Explorer (browse your way to the file from My Computer). This should start the installation.
If you notice in the Explorer window that the file seems to be lacking the Firefox orange/blue icon, rightclick the file and select Properties. The picture should look somewhat like the attached picture (except that mine's in danish, but that is irrelevant) if saved correctly - if it does NOT look like this, please describe the contents or attach a screenshot of the box. Especially what it says under "File type" - it should be "Program"; if it's not, we'll have to look into what the problem could be here.
Slightly off-topic, your Internet Explorer seems to be quite a bit out of date (IE 6, where current version is IE 8), so I would strongly recommend that you try to run Windows Update to get your system updated. If this is a company system (like a Terminal Server thin client machine), this may not be possible, and your system administrator will most likely have to help you.

  • Every time i try and update firefox a window pops up ad says that I must reboot firefox from a previous install and when i do and i try to reinstall firefox the same pop up comes up and it won't let me update to the new version

when i try to update firefox to the new version and i go to install it it tells me to reboot the system from a previous install of firefox so i go and reboot the system and it keeps saying the same thing.

    Try this:<br/>
    # Close Firefox.
    # In Windows Explorer, go to the following location: '''%USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Mozilla Firefox\updates'''
    # Delete everything in that folder.
