When I try to reset my primary email for my apple id, the apple application reverts back to an email address that is no longer active -- it will not take the new address -- but it has taken my alternate address.
I am trying to reset my apple id -- my iphone defaults to an apple id that is not valid any more. I have tried to reset my apple id using my computer -- and that seems to work but my iphone still default to the old apple id and when I try to reset my primary email on the apple website, it will not accept it and tells me that my old email address is verified -- but it is no longer valid. What can I do?
Use Safari and you will probably not have the same problem.

Just bought a new iMac, with Lion, for my wife. When is was wifi with her old iMac on line with it's printer, HP C6200, no problems printing. How is the C6200 connected to the iMac, is it via USB or Wi-Fi? If it's via Wi-Fi please make sure it's connected to the router using the printer's Network Wizard. Then click System Preferences - Print & Scan and assuming the iMac is on the same network as the printer, if it is the printer should be seen. If it's not then click the + sign and add the printer. I have two Apple ID's that are causing problems on my new 6+, one of these A ID causes window after window asking for the password. The A ID is linked to the e-mail address that has been deleted and no longer exists. So if I try to use the retrieve Password feature (for the life of me I forgot the Password), the only option is that Apple wants to send an e-mail in order to reset the original password. But that is impossible, the address does not exist.
The other Apple ID was also setup and associates with the same deleted e-mail. I basicly have an iCloud ID& password, and an alternate iCloud ID & Password
PLUS a Apple ID and password that was for the Apple Store

I changed my email password on Gmail last night. I then went into settings on my MAC to reflect the changes but it will not recognize it. I double checked to ensure I had the right password and it is. I can log into my email from safari with no issues. I have varified that all account information is correct but its still not working. I have also lost notes and contacts.

If Terminal doesn't scare you, you might try this line in Terminal...
sudo mv /var/db/CodeEquivalenceDatabase /var/db/CodeEquivalenceDatabase.old
Carefully type your admin password when asked & hit enter, as it won't be echoed, then restart the Mac.
The Password rejection can confuse people since it's a catch all meaning...
This Password, Username, Authentication method... is not recognized on this Port to this Server.
So since WebMail works it's not Name or Password, but one of the other ones.

I channged my Appleid at appleid.com and now the phone stills shows my old id and will not let apps that require id/password prompts work.
Just scroll to the bottom of the screen in the store, log out and then login with the new ID.
As long as you changed it from the manage account option at https://appleid.apple.com/ (ie. replaced the primary email address with a new one), then all your old purchases should be fine. -
The message said that my iPod could not verify the server and said accept,details, and cancel. I chose cancel and now I can get on to the App Store and many of my apps that require the Internet. This message has came up many times. What should I do? Thanks in advance.

In Itunes i'm unable to update my credit card info. It won't take the security code, but it did before. It also isn't accepting cards at this time.
the security code error is actually generic and just means the card is being rejected, double check your billing info to make sure it matches the card exactly or contact the card issuer to make sure they arent blocking it because of a fraud filter or something similar

TS4036 Accessing iCloud account from old email address that's no longer active
HELP! My iPhone 5 screen died and Apple cannot repair it. The phone still works and it is under warranty but I am having difficulty getting my calendar, notes and contact info. I was able to download the pictures on to my PC at home using iTunes but not the data. When I go to iCloud I get a message telling me to go to a message sent to the original email account used when I purchased my first apple product (laptop) but I no longer have access to that email account. I have set up other iCloud accounts since then but seem to going in circles trying to find this very important data. Before I return the damaged phone for replacement I want to make sure I have exhausted every resource. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.
Note: this will only work if the old ID is yours, and if your new ID was created by editing the details of this old ID (rather than being an entirely new ID). -

When firefox updated to 3.5, on my xp desktop, the send link option under File, and the send link extension both stopped working completely. I used tools/options/applications/browse to try to direct it to Outlook and now it is attempting to open a whole new session of Outlook in browser mode, rather a new message with the link in it that I wish to send. It is also giving me an error message that the "default mail client is not properly installed. (Send Link in Internet Explorer works just fine."

My iPad has a different Apple ID than the Apple ID on my computer. The iPad Apple ID has an email address that I no longer use. If (while on the iPad) I go to My Apple ID and try to change or add the email address that I now use (and which already is my Apple ID on the computer), it won't allow me to add it. It says : "Email address is already verified for another Apple ID" I haven't really been aware of this as a problem until I tried (for the first time) to sync my iPad to the computer and became aware that certain things wouldn't transfer. What is the solution to this?

This post was about having updated the primary email address on an iTunes account via a computer - if you do that you might need to log out of the account on an iPad by tapping on the id in Settings > iTunes & App Store and then log back in with the updated version of the account for that email address change to be recognised on your iPad. If you don't log out and back in then an iPad (or iPhone or iPod Touch) might continue to show the old version of the iTunes account id. -
