had problems last night macafee said something was trying to download on my computer did i want t allow it i said no then everything froze up for a few minutes when everything was closed and i try to restart firefox i got the message proxy server refusing to connect i tried toturn of and turn back on my computer but still got the same message tried to restore system but only date i was given was 7-7-2010 so that did not help don't know what to do to fix problem

After 4 calls to apple and 8 and a half hours on the phone. The apple people does not how to solve the problem. The last thing they told me is that they will send the problem to their engineers and I will hear from them. unfortunately they have not contact me.
During the phone calls I tried putting the date and time in automatic, changing the username and password, I even tried using somebody elses username and password. Please help, facetime is my tool to telecomute, and it is hurting my job.

I am having trouble with the updates to firefox. Each time I start it I get a page that says proxy server refusing connections and have to reinstall the old version just to use the internet. That also removes the personas from my browser.

I currently have version 3.0.10 and have gotten two prompts to upgrade my version of firefox and each time I do install the new version and then try to start up Firefox, I get a page instead that says proxy server is refusing connections and the only way to browse is to re-install the old version. I also have to re-install the old version at least 3 times before I can use Personas.

In Firefox 3.6.4 and later the default connection settings have been changed to "Use the system proxy settings".

If you do not need to use a proxy to connect to internet then select No Proxy

I just downloaded the Adobe XI trial version and when I try to start it I get a message that says the trial is over.

When I try to open firefox, I get a message that says, "firefox is already running" and to close it or restart my computer when it is NOT running, so I can't get on the internet through firefox. What is wrong?

The information box pops up when I click on my desktop icon for firefox as well as if I try to access it in other ways. I have restarted my computer. I have tried removing firefox and redownloading it. No matter what I do, it still gives me a box saying it is already running, but not responding. When I pull up my taks bar, it is not running! I can't close it as the box suggests because it is not open to do it. I just keep getting a box saying it is already running no matter what I try to do, even though it is not running.

I was able to install and have an icon on my desktop. When i click on it it automatically pops a box up that says: Firefox has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available. Then it highlights an icon at the bottom to show what the problem is and it is DEP (data execution prevention. I tried a few suggestions there but it didn't work. So it said to see if there is a download version compatable with DEP

Sounds like Firefox is "hanging at exit". That problem is frequently caused by an Extension or a Plugin. Read all of the following articles. 
NOTE: Establish a habit of exiting/closing Firefox with Firefox button > Exit or File > Exit to allow an orderly shutdown of Firefox and closing of all of the files that Firefox has open.

Freeing Up Space on The Hard Drive

2. You can remove data from your Home folder except for the /Home/Library/ folder.
3. Visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQ on freeing up space on your hard drive.
4. Also see Freeing space on your Mac OS X startup disk.
5. See Where did my Disk Space go?.
6. See The Storage Display.
You must Empty the Trash in order to recover the space they occupied on the hard drive.
You should consider replacing the drive with a larger one. Check out OWC for drives, tutorials, and toolkits.
Try using OmniDiskSweeper 1.8 or GrandPerspective to search your drive for large files and where they are located.

It could be a problem at the other end, try again tomorrow. Also , try resetting your iPad by holding down the home and sleep/wake button till the Apple logo appears and then let it wake up, maybe that may help.

Following an upgrade of my OS from XP to Vista, I tried to point the new installation at my old profile. Now when I try to start FF, I get a message saying that it is already running and I should reboot to clear the problem. I've done that but the problem remains. OK, I had moved the profile file inside the profile folder which was created when I installed FF, to the main FF folder. I then took the equivalent file which existed under XP before my upgrade to vista, and moved it into the new Profile folder. That's when I hit the problem described in the initial question.
So, what I did following Tony's response was to move the bookmarks password and cookies files into the profile created on the install. I then moved that file into the profile folder and moved the one I'd saved from XP, out to the main FF folder.
Started FF and voila! All working fine. Thanks for your help.
