When I try to update any applications I get the message, "invalid address" ad when I try to sign in it wont let me.

I can't update any apps or install any new ones. I have a balance over $30.00 and it won't let me buy anything. What do I do to make it work?

Are you trying to do this over the air, or by the phone. Or are you trying to do this with the computer and iTunes? How do you get the Internet for the computer if using the computer? You cannot use the iPhone for tethering and updating at the same time, it will disconnect. If you are trying over the air and getting an error, try connecting the phone to the computer and iTunes and update that way.

Hi all.
I had the 1013 error, have never Jailbroken my phone.
Udating the firmware casued it to go into recovery mode and got stuck in the 1013 error loop.
Tried editing the Host file, new computer, itunes re-install, different USB port, anti-virus off etc, NOTHING was working.
Just as I was tempted to launch it at some unwitting object/person, cancel my contract and defacate on Apple's porch, I managed to sort it purely by restoring my phone without the sim card in.
No idea why, dont know why i havnt seen it mentioned before either. Hopefully it may help some of you in the same situation.

I really thought signing out would do because that works frequently for the unknown error message. Try these two things.
Go to Settings>General>Date and Time>Set Automatically>Off. Set the date one year ahead. Try to update the apps again. If you get an error message, go back to the settings. Correct the date and time (set automatically) then go back and try to update the apps again.
Or this ... The old stand by....
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

All Apple iTunes Store accounts must have a valid form of payment set up. Even for free apps and updates. The Payment Declined message comes from your card issuer or payment source; Apple is just a pass-through for the message. You need to find out why your issuer is declining your card.

You should not get that message if you are simply trying to load the shuffle with songs from your iTunes library. If iTunes is trying to Update or Restore the shuffle, and you get that message, try the suggestions in this article

Did you restore the phone as a new device when you did the restore/unlock, or did you restore it from an existing backup? I have found that when unlocking an iPhone on the AT&T network, you don't get the message that the unlock was successful if you don't restore as a new device. The unlock still works, you just don't get the message. Perhaps it is not carrier specific for this behavior.

Try logging out of your account on the iPhone by tapping on your id in Settings > Store and then log back in and see if it then works.
If that doesn't solve it then what has worked for some people is going into Settings > General > Date & Time and change the date to a few months (or maybe a year or two) in the future and then re-trying
