When I try to update or install Firefox, I get the error message that the platform 6.0 is not compatible with the upgrade. What gives?

I uninstalled Firefox, but could never get the program to reinstall. I have been using Safari instead.

If the full message is similar to ''"Platform version <x.x.x.x> is not compatible with minVersion <x.x.x.x>"'', then do the following.
