When I turn iTunes on "an unknown error occurred (-42110) pops up?
It started happening after downloading the latest version of iTunes.
As well, I'm not sure if it has something to do with it but when I download purchases and they show complete, the next time I turn iTunes on, the purchase starts downloading again which is holding up other downloads. Frustrating.

An unknown error occured (-42110) pops up when starting iTunes. However, everything seems to be fine. This message pops up on my account, my husband's, my son but not my daughter. Very irritating. Try this...
Triple click anywhere in the line below to select it and press Ctrl+C to copy it.
cmd /k netsh winsock reset
Press the WinLogoKey+R to open the run dialog, then Ctrl+V to paste, then press enter/return.
You should get something similar to this:
Reboot the computer and the problem should be resolved.
If it doesn't work then perhaps a full tear down and rebuild of iTunes will fix things. See Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates for details.

Removing the SC Info folder as per the "Error 3001," "-42110," or "5103" section in the Specific Conditions and Alert Messages: (Mac OS X / Windows) section of the following document seems to help most folks reporting the iTunes launch 42110s:

A repair uninstalls all program files prior to reinstalling them. So the message asking whether or not you want to do that just reflects what has always happened. A repair install (like a standard uninstall, followed by a reinstall) doesn't touch content files under normal circumstances.

This alert is related to iTunes Store movie rentals and authorization issues. Make sure you are using the most recent version of iTunes and QuickTime. They both can be downloaded free of charge. If your iTunes is up to date, remove the SC Info folder.

when trying to restore back up on my wifes new phone an error occured (itunes an unknown error occured (-42110)). I did not have any problem when restoring backup on my new phone. How can I fix this. any recomended software fix.
I am hoping that the back up (all pictures and contacts is still backed up on my pc because I screwed up and set the old phone to factory settings and lost all info in the phone.
