When i turn my ipod on it said use itunes to restore......

when i turn my ipod on it said use itunes to restore. SO i downloaded the new itunes (7.2 i think) and when i pluged ipod in it said ipod in recovery mode restore before use in itunes for sumthin like that... so i did that and at the end it said error occured (1413)...so im like ***...anyways iv ran out of ideas of what to do. and iv used my ipod before and one morning it didnt work...so yeah please help me!!!!

My Problem iz rather weird nd strange. about a month back, my 2GB nano just freezed due to no apparent reason. i used the hold-menu-and-centre-key strategy to reset it and the next screen said somthing like USE ITUNES TO RESTORE. i connected it thru my USB cable to my PC and i tunes wudn't recognize it. then i used the updater which said can't mount iPOD. i then checked ur forums and tried tht manual disk mode to format it in my PC. but on right clickin on
iPOD(which shows as REMOVABLE DRIVE), nothing happens. no format screen iz displayed. but somehow trying again and again and restarting and shutting down the ipod service solved the matter. for testing, i copied one song with couple of photos in it. it worked reallly fine until i
formatted my pc.
I re-did the partitions, reinstalled the windows
and every software. then i downloaded the latest iTUNES(7.0.2) from apple's website. ripped a few cds on my pc, then opened iTUNEs to copy more music in my iPOD. just after the copy started, iTUNES gave error which had something to do with the transfer. i unpluggged my iPOD
after ejecting frm iTUNES and found the same freaky error (USE ITUNES TO RESTORE) again. as i had tackled thru this error earlier, so i repeated the same procedure but with latest iTUNES this time. i had to download the latest iPOD updater(1.3 i guess) too as it is not included in iTUNES.
and after every step, it is still giving the same error over and over again. i hav another pc which iz using the same windows with previous iPOD updater and iTUNES. that updater givez errors like CAN'T MOUNT iPOD,FIRMWARE UPDATE FAILURE, etc. and also hangs sometimes. and even if it
restores, the iPOD never restarts. when i use my other PC with newer iTUNES and new windows on it, it givez errors like UNKNOWN ERROR, etc. also after restoring, the iPOD restarts and shows the same USE ITUNES to RESTORE error. main probelm i m facing in restoring process thru disk mode iz tht whenever i right click on the iPOD in my COMPUTER, there r 99% chances that it wont show any format dialogue at all (even if the iPOD service isn't running)
kindly help me az i m tooo much fed up of this thing. i mite smash the nano onto my computer screen if nuthin helps :S
kindly reply soon. please note tht the country i live in doesn't giv support for iPODs and i received this product as a gift about an year back and has been working fine ever since (except last two times) also i cant afford to send it bak to UK or something like tht. so online
help wud b much appreciated...
also i cudnt find any POST new TOPIC button on these forums, kindly help me in tht regard too...
THANKING IN ANTICIPATION
P.S. i've tried it three different PCs with frsh installations. so suggest me something different also drive letter can't b changed for iPOD in disk manager..

My phone randomly shut off. When I turned it back on it said it needed to restore, to plug it into itunes. When I did, and tried to restore it, it failed with a code 21. I have followed all the instructions, it still isn't working. I've uninstalled and reinstalled all that the steps told me to, I've updated everything in my computer. I don't know what else to do. My phone will just show the apple sign and the itunes plug in sign.

  • "iTunes has detected an iPod in recovery mode - Use iTunes to restore"

When I updated my iTunes software, I connected my Ipod to my laptop to charge. By default, it opened iTunes. Immediately upon doing so, my nano flashed and displayed the message "iTunes has detected an iPod in recovery mode - Use iTunes to restore". I followed the instructions to reset, but to no avail, the message never disappears. However, if this helps at all, when attempting to reset the nano, the nano turns off, the apple logo displays, then returns to the same message. I do not want to "restore" my nano unless absolutely necessary since I'll lose everything I have stored on it. I'm open for suggestions. Thanks for reading.

  • HT1363 My old iPod Nano says to use iTunes to restore and I've followed all suggested help steps, but I can't get it into disk mode nor can I get it to show in my computer or in iTunes.

My old iPod Nano says to use iTunes to restore and I've followed all suggested help steps, but I can't get it into disk mode nor can I get it to show in my computer or in iTunes.  I have the latest version of iTunes.  Windows has all the most recent updates too.  I can reset the iPod, but the message to Use iTunes to restore comes back and I am stuck.

Already tried another USB port, still nothing.
I don't have another PC to check, I only have one which is the one not working with my iPod.
It appears under my Computer, just not under iTunes. Plus, the iPod classic troubleshooting assistant doesn't work because I can't restore since it can't come up onto my iTunes! Even my iPod says "Use iTunes to Restore" once in a while, but I plug it in & I'm not able to restore it since it won't come up under iTunes.

  • IPod Nano 4th gen - Use iTunes to Restore

My cousin went to India for a couple of months so he gave me his iPod Nano. It was working when i got it, and i listened to his songs. So I downloaded the latest version of iTunes so I could put my songs in it. When I connected it, iTunes told me to restore it so I did. In the process, it showed an error (1437). So I disconnected it and my nano had this white screen and it says "Use iTunes to Restore". Which I tried many times, and the same error happens.
Now it's not even showing my in My Computer (running Windows Vista). I tried resetting the Nano multiple times and it turns into a black screen for about 2 seconds, then it returns to the "Use iTunes to Restore" screen, I do not get the screen with the apple. If I cannot fix this, will I be able to take it to a Apple store? I have the one year warranty. The Problem is, my Cousin only gave me the iPod, no cables or headphones. I am using the charging wire from my iPod video (5th gen), could this be the problem? Will the Apple store fix it for me without the receipt and the original box?

Now 1) the ipod is formatted

    3) Itunes doesn't detect ipod
    4) when the ipod is not connected to pc it displays "use itunes to restore"
    this is the current situation
    What shall i do ?

No. You need iTunes on a computer to restore it.  If you don't have iTunes you can download it from here:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
If you don't have a computer, can you can try to borrow one with iTunes installed.

  • Updated iPod to 1.2 , now it tells 'use itunes to restore'. How ?

    Hello, sorry my english.
I have just updated my iPod nano from firmware 1.1.1 to 1.2 using latest iPod Updater 2006-06-28. It went ok.
Then i entered iTunes 6.0.5 and made an eject.
The iPod showed "OK to disconnect". I disconnected.
But now when I turn it on, it shows this message:
    "Use iTunes to restore"
How can I do that? When I open iTunes it behaves like there is nothing wrong with my iPod, it lets me add and remove music with no stress. Also I can't find any option on iTunes to 'restore' my iPod. I know how to do that using the iPod Updater (restoring to factory settings) but I can find any 'restore' option on iTunes like my iPod warns.
Can anyone help me? Thank you.

  • "Use iTunes to restore". How can I access the iPod w/o losing present data?

I have a request from my grandaughter to download a number of songs to her iPod. I charged the battery fully. When I tried to start it , it read "Use iTunes to restore". How can I access her iPod w/o losing any of her present songs? Please please help.

You can't. Restoring will always erase the device. Unless you have a backup in iTunes or iCloud everything is removed. Purchased items can be re-downloaded as long as the original Apple ID used to purchase them is also used when reconfiguing the device after it is restored.
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

  • Totally erased, now: use itunes to restore your ipod... ??!

Ok well, I just connected my ipod as usual to add some music. When I return to my PC after 2 hours, my ipod seems to be completly empty . I tried to connect it again, and it recognized it, ok well, no problem I think just put all your 2000 songs on it all over again. After some weird errors, the screen stays frozen on o not disconnect.
I solved it using the 2 button press thing. And now it all of the sudden sais: COnnect the ipod to your computer, use itunes to restore.
As I connect it to my computer, nothing happens. I see it as mass device (not Ipod anymore), and Itunes doesnt recognize it.
Itried using the updater and try to restore, but no, updater freezes up everytime I try.
I've tried a lot of things now, and it doesnt respond at all.. does anyone has a clue??
    thanks in advance!
    Marit

Disconnect the ipod and keep it in "DIsk Mode" for now.
In Windows, Goto control panel>add and remove and uninstall iTunes AND quicktime (You will not loose any music or playlist).
Scan the system for malware with ewido http://www.ewido.com
Now disable antivirus AND any other security programs and goto apple.com to download/install iTUnes again.
Reboot the PC, Disable your antivirus/security programs, Open the ipod updater THEN connect the ipod in disk mode to the PC and try restoring it

  • Ipod nano 4gb use itunes to restore востанавливаю все равно все тоже

ipod nano 4gb use itunes to restore востанавливаю все равно все тоже

restored my ipod and now it works but why does this happen? Is this a hardware problem, if it is, should i return my ipod. Or is this just a software problem that will be fixed in future updates?
I'm not sure why exactly an iPod will say "Use iTunes to restore", but probably just because of a regular internal software problem.
If you're iPod isn't displaying "Use iTunes to restore" anymore, and if it's acting fine, this was simply a isolated incident, which may occur now and then to a few iPods, if they're OS (operating system) gets messed up.
It's similar to if your iPod once apon a time your iPod froze up, then displayed this symbol (it means you need to restore your iPod):
You restored the iPod, and have never gotten that icon or any problems ever since.
Will the need to restore your iPod recurr? It would only be by chance, and not relating to that isolated incident; this is, if you're iPod isn't displaying any failure messages soon after, which indicates a recurring true hard drive problem, not just a temporary one.
If your iPod begins to display "Use iTunes to restore" or other failureful (that's my term for a symbol or behavior that indicates a failure) icons/messages soon after this, you can suspect that your iPod has a true problem with its hard drive/flash drive that a restore didn't fix.
In this case, you would probably send your iPod in to Apple to get it repaired or replaced.
I hope that explanation answers your question.

  • When I turn my ipod on why does the screen stay blank and then turn itself off?

When I turn my ipod on the normal start up screen appears with the apple logo in the middle, but then after a few seconds the screen goes blank and it turns itself off. It was working fine the other day. I even charged it overnight to make sure that it wasnt because it was out of battery. I dont know what to do, it has over 600 songs on it and around 300 photos, I know that the memory isnt full because I checked the other day and it said I had around 1GB left. I cant do anything on at all because the screen just goes blank and then turns itself off. Please help, thank you

Well, I strongly suspect that a gig isn't quite enough "extra" storage to allow operation.
However, first, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  It could take well over an hour!  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod.  As before, say "yes."  Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time.  If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device.  Corrective action is simple -  choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.

Hello and good afternoon, my IPod Touch is neither in windows explorer nor in iTunes to be seen. When I turn my IPod on, i shall connect it to my computer; but when I do so, nothing happens. What can I do, please ???

Take a look at the troubleshooting steps provided by Apple in this support article:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538
    Hope those help.
Your iPod touch will never appear in Windows Explorer, by the way. It doesn't have the "disk mode" that the older iPods did.
    Regards.

  • When i turn my ipod touch 4g on it goes from the apple logo to the white wheel then to a blank white screen, please help

After using itunes to restore it i turned my ipod touch on and it stayed on the apple logo for a few minutes then it would change to a spinning wheel on a black screen then the screen would turn white and the process will repeat. I can still put it in dfu mode and recovery mode but they don't help. So hopefully someone in this community can help me. And this all started when i updated it to ios 6.1.3 from 6.1.2. and also my computer and itunes dont recognize it

See if you missed anything here:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
