When I turn on my MacBook pro I get the apple and the spinning thing will not boot up what can I do

Having trouble getting to boot up

There are four general causes of this issue:
1. The computer's PRAM no longer contains a valid startup disk setting when there aren't any problems with the disk itself. This can be checked for by pressing the Option key and seeing if the drive appears.
2. The internal drive's directory structure has become damaged. This requires usage of an alternate bootable system to perform the repair.
3. Critical system files have been deleted. This requires usage of an alternate bootable system to reinstall them.
4. The internal drive has died or become unplugged. This is the most likely case if the computer took a sharp impact or there are unusual sounds coming from its location.

  • When I turn on my MacBook pro, I get the 'macintosh he's symbol. Then, at my login, certain keys (I,e,u) get an error sound, and I can't log in. Anyone know what's up?

Oh, I'm on my phone because if the problem, so I put the whole question in the title. But, the  problem is that my computer acts like I've got the alt key down   I start up, and gives me an error sound when I hit certain keys (e i, u, and a few othes) so I can't log in. Help?

You showed a kernel panic file from OS X, apprantly Log Me In is installed into OS X or running when you log in.
You should be using the developers installer/unistaller to remove Log Me In from OS X.
Somehow it's in OS X, I don't know, but it's there and you need to remove it. I'm not dealing with Windows, just OS X.
Talk to Log Me In people and find out what is installed where so you can do a manual deletion out of OS X.
If that doesn't work, you have to reboot holding the Shift key down manually search for any Log Me In or Himachi files on your computer, in your System/Library/Extensions folder too, use the free Easy Find.

  • When I turn on my MacBook Pro a box prompts up and it disappears right away. How can I stop this from happening?

I'm new in the Mac World. In November I bought a MacBook Pro. I love my MacBook, however, a couple of days ago when I turn on my MacBook and log in, a window or box prompts up for about one second and then dissapears. I'm afraid that may be a virus or trojan that may be running behind the screen. How do I fix this? Are there any applications that I can run to detect what is happening to my computer.
    Thank you for your help!!!

It was very hard to see what the box says because the message displays for less than one second. However, I was able to record it with my iphone and pause it until I got a shot of the message. The box says the following:
"Do you want the application “java” to accept incoming network connections?
Clicking deny may limit the application’s behavior. This setting can be changed in the Firewall pane of Security preferences."
I did make some changes. I will see if it works.
    Thank you!!!

  • When I turn on my MacBook Pro I get a message that the iCloud terms have changed and I have to accept the new ones in Settings. The spinning wheel then appears and stays there - forever.

The problems began when I deleted a ymail account and replaced it with a new ymail account. My main account is a gmail. At some point Yahoo appear to have changed the suffix from ymail.com to yahoo.com. I could not and indeed cannot get iCloud to accept my new account. I kept getting told that my id and password could not be configured. Eventually I tried it on my mini iPad and "hey presto!" no problem at all. My new yahoo account nestles comfortably in iCloud on the mine iPad. But the MacBook Pro will have none of it! I write this question now as I fear that I will be totally demented very soon and unable to formulate my thoughts clearly!
By the way, I also find the "password" issue problematical. It seems Apple want my Apple password rather than my eMail password. All very confusing.

No, your Yahoo account is not in iCloud (which only handles iCloud mail), it is in Yahoo, and the Yahoo mail account is on your iPad.

Get the correct settings for your account from Yahoo and set it up manually.

That would depend on what you are trying to do.

  • My Macbook Pro keeps getting the spinning wheel...

    Hello there.
This seems to be something thats asked about quite often. I wanted to see if there was something I could do to fix this problem without having to go to Apple. and if not, it is what it is. ....I have a Macbook Pro, bought it in 2011...has really never ever given me any issues, I havent really been using it all that much like I used to but I'll be using it alot more now that Ill be returning to college...I will say, its usually worse with safari. With Google Chrome it isn't quite as bad.
It's just been real slow lately, usually freezes up, then the spinning wheel pops up, usually doesnt go away, sometimes does...usually doesnt though...If the spinning wheel doesn't show up, another thing that may happen is if I hover over an app, say itunes or google chrome, the icon of the app will enlarge like it normally does, but when I scroll away and as the cursor goes away from the icon, the icon stay enlarged, and doesnt allow me to double click it or really anything...that doesnt happen quite as often as the spinning wheel though
so yeah, id like to know if this is fixable...I've considered calling Apple they're very helpful but i Figured i'd give this a try...
I'm not really sure what specific info you may need to be able to help me, like i said its a 2011 Macbook Pro, apparently Memory  4 GB (from about this mac) ,
any recommended apps to download ? or anything ?
thanks so much, any help or suggestions at all will  be highly appreciated
    Sorry for rambling.

Avoid third party so called Mac cleaning utilities. They can more harm than good. Your Mac runs maintenace in the background for you. There are other reasons why you see the spinning beach ball.
Not enough free storage space slow your Mac down.
Click your Apple menu  top left in your screen. From the drop down menu click About This Mac > More Info > Storage
Make sure there's at least 15% free disk space.
If it's not a disk space issue, a Safe Mode boot deletes system caches that may help.
Startup your Mac in Safe Mode
A Safe Mode boot takes much longer than a normal boot so be patient.
Once you are in Safe Mode, click the Apple  top left in your screen. From the drop down menu click Restart.
See if that makes a difference.

  • My computer says firefix is running....I can not find it and when I click on the icon it will not open. What can I do?

I can not get firefox to open when I click the icon. A box appears and tells me firefix is running but I can not find it anywhere. I have tried to delete it and everything else I can think of and it will not open. Please tell me what I can do.
    Thank you Lisa Brown

I used to have this problem on my old XP computer, too. The easiest way to fix it is to restart your computer. Use Shutdown and restart. This will stop the firefox process that is hanging and won't show up on your screen.
If you are somewhat computer literate, you can look at all your running processes by pressing Ctrl Shift Esc all at once using the three finger salute. Look at the list of processes to find firefox, highlight it, and select end process. Then go back and click on your shortcut to your firefox to regain control and display it on your screen.
Be sure to upgrade to the latest version of firefox, Version 5. It works much better than previous versions.

It's the Resume feature of Lion:
Managing Mac OS X Lion's application resume feature.
If you shutdown your computer you should get a dialog asking if you want applications to resume on the next startup. Simply uncheck the box to prevent that from occurring. Open General preferences and uncheck the option to Restore windows when quitting and re-opening apps. You can also install a third-party utility to control resume features on individual applications: RestoreMeNot or Application State Cleaner.

It turns out that iCloud caused this issue. When I turned iCloud off my login screen was completely normal.

Please read my question carefully, this is, I think, a question for the experts. It's not the usual name change question.
When I setup my new MacBook Pro, something slipped by me and my computer was named First-Lasts-MacBook-Pro (using my real first and last name).
I changed the computer name in Preferences/Sharing to a new name and Preferences/Accounts to just be Mike. I can right click on my account name, choose advanced, and see that everything looks right.
However, If I do a scan of my network with my iPhone using the free version of IP Scanner, it lists my computer as First-Lasts-MacBook-Pro! And it lists the user as First-Last.
So even though another Mac just sees my new computer name, and my home folder is Mike, somewhere in the system the original setup with my full name is still stored. And it's available on a network scan. So my full name might show up at a coffee shop.
Can I fully change the name without doing a complete re-install of Lion and all my apps?

One thought... you said the iPhone displayed your computer's old name? I think that you must have used the iPhone with this computer before you changed the name. So no one else's iPhone should display your full name unless that iPhone had previously connected to your Mac. For example, I did this exact same change, and I use the Keynote Remote app to connect with my MacBook Pro. It would no longer link with my MacBook Pro under the old name, and I found that I had to unlink and then create a new link under the new name. So the answer to your question is, there is nothing you need to do on the Mac, but rather the phone, and no other phone will display your full name.
