When i turn on pc i get a grey screen and nothing else

i have a hp pavilion dv 6 3143cl . when i turn the pc on . i get a message saying the battery is low - primary internal batter 601 . and after that i get a grey screen and nothing else happens . i have been getting the low battery response for a while but i always use the power cord and it has always logged in but now nothing but the grey screen . is the grey screen because of the low battery even though its plugged in ? help please marcus68

Remove the battery and AC plug. Hold down the power button for 30 seconds. Now hook up just the AC plug and try to turn on. Also try connecting an external monitor and see if it will display there and report back.

Put your install DVD into the optical drive (CD/DVD drive) and reboot. Be sure to either use the disc that came with your Mac, or, if you installed a later Mac OS X version from disc, use the newer disc. As soon as you hear the boot chime, hold down the "c" key on your keyboard (or the Option Key until the Install Disk shows up) until the apple shows up. That will force your MacBook to boot from the install DVD in the optical drive.
When it does start up, you'll see a panel asking you to choose your language. Choose your language and press the Return key on your keyboard once. It will then present you with an Installation window. Completely ignore this window and click on Utilities in the top menu and scroll down to Disk Utility and click it. When it comes up is your Hard Drive in the list on the left?
If it is, then click on the Mac OS partition of your hard drive in the left hand list. Then select the First Aid Tab and run Repair Disk. The Repair Disk button won't be available until you've clicked on the Mac OS partition on your hard drive. If that repairs any problems run it again until the green OK appears and then run Repair Permissions. After repairing use Startup Disk from the same menu to choose your hard drive for restarting from your hard drive.
If your hard drive isn’t recognized in Disk Utility then your hard drive is probably dead.

When I open top sites I get a grey screen, and when I typ something it's like I forget some letters (i'm sure I didn't). On IE I don't have that problem.These problems started yesterday.

Try clearing Safari's cache : Settings > Safari > Clear Cache (and Clear History)
If that doesn't work then try closing Safari completely and then re-open it : from the home screen (i.e. not with Safari 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Safari app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
A third option is a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

Most of the time when I turn on the Mac I get the white screen and question mark appear. Sometimes it will turn on and work. But often the coloured spinning wheel starts up especially after trying to use iphoto it freezes and a couple of times the screen has then gone black. The computer seemed pretty warm yesterday when this happened.
Any suggestions of what I should do to fix it would be greatly appreciated.

Insert the install disk and press c on startup. Select your langauge then, if there's a menubar click utilities then click Disk Utility. If you didn't see the menubar continue with the installer until you see it.
Once in disk utitly select the drive and repair permissions.
After the repair is done, quit the utiltiy.
You can try to reboot and see if it works if you reboot, but if it doesn't repeat the same as before again.
Now you can continue with the installer and install the os.
Quit

Simple way to make HDD free space is delete files you don't need anymore.
Or get bigger drive and external HDD case, then:
1) install bigger HDD in external drive case.
2) connect external drive and format and mount it with Disk Utility.
3) make clone with Carbon Copy Cloner or SuperDuper!(source drive is internal HDD, target drive is external one).
4) install external bigger drive into your Macbook Pro.
In the cace if your're using Mac Pro:
1) get bigger HDD and install it in drive bay of Mac Pro.
2) format and mount it with Disk Utility.
3) make clone with Carbon Copy Cloner or SuperDuper!(source drive is old HDD, target drive is new one).
4) Select boot drive to new bigger one.

The first things I would try would be to press shift during start up, this will boot into safe mode.
I think you'll need to purchase a copy of Snow Leopard to re-install the OS.
There's another couple of suggestions here; http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1417 where you can boot into single user mode and look at repairing disk permissions if that's the problem.
I would hope that if you could boot into safe mode or single user mode, then that may automatically rectify your current issue. If not, then I'm pretty certain that a fresh install will be the ultimate answer.

When I try to open itunes, 'my documents' comes up- and nothing else!

Whenever I try to open itunes, windows explorer opens and displays my documents- and nothing else happens! And when I plug in my ipod, instead of opening itunes like normal, the same thing happens. Any ideas whats going on/how I can fix it? If I reinstall itunes, do I have to rebuild my library from my ipod? Im not sure where the files are stored... thanks for the help

I finally resolved my problem after spending way too much time on it. I simply handed my 160GB iPod to my husband to put his fav Stones & Beatles songs on and I went back to my 80GB Microsoft Zune which has never disappointed me.
After spending so much time trying to figure this out I did finally take it back to Apple Store who performed a diagnostic and found there was a problem with the device. They replaced it with a refurbished one which has similar issues. All I wanted to do was listen to my music. Was that too much to ask? So I am happy to be free of this problematic device. No more Apple for me!!

On the black screen you can see the pointer, the pointer moves when asked, the pointer gets dark/light with the appropriate keys pressed. Tried turning on/off; also with shift key pressed. On my macbook when I turn it on I get this gray screen with a circle that has a slash through it

When I power/turn on my macbook with the power button I get this gray screen that has a circle with a slash through it. It then stays on this screen so i hit the power button to shut off and then turn back on and its there again then i power off and on one more time and it then powers up like normal and brings me to my login in screen where you type your password to sign in.

The MBA is trying to tell you that it is not able to find a bootable system
Either the file is corrupt or access to the storrage has failed
I would start by seeing if it will boot with Command + R depressed

HP Pavilion a1550e, when I turn it on i get 2 short beeps and 1 long beep.

Please indicate all options ordered on your computer as we don't have access to that information. Please see this HP document entitled "Computer Does Not Start and Emits an LED or Beep Code". The short-short-long code appears to indicate that the computer is "Unable to initialize video or video card required but not installed."
