Make sure that you type '''about:config''' in one word and without any spaces in the location bar.

I am trying to get the most speed out of the browser, instructions say to type about:config in the address bar and hit enter, I did this. It now says to rt. click, from the menu select "New" then "Integer", I cannot find "New", I need better directions.

It is not recommended to change prefs in order to tweak some settings.

Cannot clear address line history. when i type a word in the address line i still get full history of all sites i've visited that has that word(s) in it.

even when private browsing, typing in the address line itself always brings up a history of sites visited that include that word or words. i've cleared the bookmarks, cookies, & history settings to no avail.

When I type about:blank in the url box, nothing happens. The address line just goes back to "Go to a website".

Showing a placeholder text is the default behavior of the location bar when no page is loaded and about:blank is not a real page (you do not see it listed on the about:about page), so this is expected behavior. 
If it only a problem when the browsing window isn't empty.

My new tab page is missing and now when I type about:newtab in the Awesome bar I get a page called about:about. Help!!

I use to have the grid of pinned webpages whenever I clicked on the X of a new tab page. Now it's gone. I figured out if I typed about:newtab in the Awesome bar it would restore the page, but not all the time. Now when I type about:newtab in the Awesome bar I get a page called about:about...and I don't want that. How can I get my pinned websites back on my New tab page?

I ultimately decided to 'gift' the movie I wanted to watch to myself. This is not a great solution as you then have to purchase the video; no option to rent.
Still looking for solutions if anyone has ideas.

You can reset a pref to the default value via the right-click context menu. 
Then that pref will be removed if you close and restart Firefox in case that pref doesn't exist by default (i.e. type is string and shows nothing in the value field after the reset). 
Prefs that have a default or a user set value can't be removed.

Firefox crashes when I paste about:sessionrestore in the address bar.

I was following instructions on a Mozilla page and copied about:sessionrestore to paste into the address bar. FF crashed as soon as I hit enter, so I tried again and it crashed again. What's up with that?

It is possible that there is a problem with the files sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.

If you see files sessionstore-##.js with a number in the left part of the name like sessionstore-1.js then delete those as well.

How can i replace the default search engine (Yahoo...) with Google, when I write a word at the address line?

I recently installed FireFox on my new pc. Whenever I type a word, for example a name of a website, I get the yahoo search resault, instead of what I had before - to enter directly to the site, or in some cases - get the Google search results.
I would like to be able to type the website name (for example - "filefactory"), and become directed to the site itself, as it was with the previous version that I had in my former pc.

I am trying to view a story that appears on Yahoo today, 2/24. There are 17 photos available to view; however, when I try to go to the next photo, nothing happens.

The story features 17 stars that appear younger than they are. When I try to move through the photos, I cannot. When I click on the arrow to move through the photos, there is no movement. When I open in Internet Explorer, I am able to view the photos normally. Okay, I just realized it is not just this webpage; I cannot view numerous photos that have to be clicked through. Can I delete email addresses that pop up when I type a letter in the address bar.

my mail that I have linked to the mail app is yahoo and everytime I enter a letter into the to section it brings up other emails so I dont need to write it all out. For example: Ill type "M'" so I can email my brother and it will bring his up but then it will show other peoples email that I can click on, either to people Ive contacted once or people that I hardly ever talk to. How can I get rid of this without restting my touch?

There is a way. Go to Contacts on your iPod and delete the ones that start with "M" and see if that works. Delete them from your Yahoo account, then sync with iTunes. Hope this works.
