When I updated my phone, I lost all my pictures.
I just updated my ipone, and it said before the update that all my data and pictures and things would be backed up to my computer. Afterwards all my pictures are gone and I can't locate them on my computer, in any of my files or anything.
Is there a way to restore them or find where iTunes saved them to?
Have you not been using your phone as intended? Pictures taken by your phone (like any camera) should be imported to your computer for archival and safe keeping as soon as possible after taking--and certainly before doing any updating of the phone's operating system.

I went to update my phone and after the update I recieved a message that it failed and that the back up failed. I had to restore my phone to stock. Thank you. I have been reading about a lot of these occurances and many people have been able to get their pictures back through iexplorer however I am unable to. The error number I got was 50 or something like that. I have a feeling I will not be able to get the pictures back because it said the backup failed after the update failed.

My husband bought an iPad 2. I have a Mac. ITunes is in my name but I have turned sharing on. When we updated to OS5 we lost all the free apps that he downloaded in his user name. Is there no way to update using my iTunes without losing his software. He is frustrated using the iPad because he never knows whether to use his user name or my user name.
Apps are only tied to one account... You can set up two iTunes accounts on your computer, however, and let his iPad sync to his account. If he has never backed up his apps to a computer, however, he will have to redownload all the apps. Afterwards, he can backup to iCloud instead of your computer.

If they are still on your Mac's drive then you should be able to add them back into iTunes via File > Add To Library

The iphone is designed to be sycned to your computer regularly.
The contact will be in whatever program he has chosen to sync. Sync them back to the iphone form there. -

My iPhone has recently been crashing (or rather the apps) when I would try to access my text messages, contacts, phonebook, facebook, or email. I tried restarting my phone and lost all of my contacts. This has been happening more and more frequently. Today I was in my pictures and was trying to crop one and my phone shut off completely. Anyone know what's wrong with it or how to fix it?
Make sure all apps are fully closed:
- double tap your home button
- hold your finger on an app
- when the apps start to wiggle press the red "-" button on all the apps
Now do a hard reset:
- hold the home button and the sleeps/wake button down at the same time
- the phone will shut off then when the apple logo ppears release both buttons
If by then your contacts have not been restored you would need to try and retreive them from a back up on itunes/icloud that was made when the contacts were on the phone. You could even stream them from the cloud if they were synced to the cloud. The link beow will show you how to restore from an itunes/icloud back up:

Yes, there are two utilities that I use to perform this task, SuperCrazyAwesome’s iPhone Backup Extractor which is a free utility, and addPod’s Juice Phone, also free. Neither solution will work if you have encrypted your backup files. Both allow you to access the backed up data as if the iPhone was connected to your Mac.

The photo's in your camera roll would be in a backup, if you have one (iCloud or iTunes). If you did not keep a backup somewhere, they are gone. Sorry, but that is the way of any data - if you don't have a backup of it somewhere, there is nothing to restore it from.
All other photo's should be on your computer somewhere anyway - whereever you had them to sync to the device originally.
