Did you check your security software (firewall)?
A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process.

What's going to happen to all the iWeb hacks when the next version comes?

When I refer to iWeb hacks in the title, I'm thinking of non-Apple software like "iWebsites" and "iWebenhancer".
From reading this forum, I've already learned how to have multiple websites on iWeb by duplicating and copying the domain file to different folders in my computer, where I work on different websites separately.
Now, I am thinking of getting "iWebenhancer" because I want to paste in some things, like "google adsense" and "youtube"/"Revver" video clips into my sites. HOWEVER, I am worried that all my hard work on my iWeb sites is going to get thrown out-of-wack when the next version of iWeb comes out early next year with iLife 2007 (I am presuming it will be released).
What do other forum users think? I know it can be only speculation now, but still I'm curious to know if anyone else is pondering this.

All of what you are saying is certainly possible. The next version of iWeb could potentially make all the workarounds that we do to edit HTML obsolete. To be sure, this is a net positive. But for those of us with more complex and more "post-processing" heavy sites, it will probably mean that we need to make some changes.
From a purely speculative viewpoint, I'm going to guess that the next version of iWeb will make adding external HTML snippets via post-publishing unnecessary. This would probably mean that we will be able to put whatever code we want to add right into the iWeb workspace....maybe somewhat akin to how iWebEnhancer works....but all built into iWeb. So as far as retooling our websites, this would simply require a one-time "put all your external code into iWeb and make sure it works" overhaul.
And I'm going to further speculate that the next version of iWeb may present us with many more desireable features....some that may make us want to abandon the way we do things now and possibly also abandon the very things that we strive to add to our sites today.... I'm thinking about more dynamic content with more user-interactivity. My point here is only that we might not mind the chance to overhaul our sites too much once we see the new features available to us.
Maybe I'm hoping for too much, though. I don't know. Your guess is as good as mine.

When will you release the next version of Strobe? + Feature suggestions

I'm just curious on when the next version will be released. What kind of features are planned? A public roadmap would be really nice to have when developing around this player.
My suggestions would be:
Simple JavaScript API
An optional loader graphic while the media element is being retrieved/determined. (Instead of the miss-aligned buttons and completely black screen)
Possibility for the user to retry playback if RTMP connection fails, (media element not found) instead of locking the player, currently forcing the user to reload the browser.
Remove the pause button on live streams and replace it with a stop button. (When DVR is not supported obviously)

Thank you these great suggestions! We will definitely consider these for our future roadmap. A couple quick answers to your questions:
We are shooting to release the next version (v1.5) of Strobe Media Playback (SMP) in December.
One of the key features of SMP 1.5 is a JavaScript API for creating player controls. We've actually just released a sprint drop that includes this feature, and the source can be downloaded here and the specification can be found here.
Some of the other planned features for SMP 1.5 include Multicast support and an HTML5 fallback engine. (Please note that these are just planned and not committed features.)
We have just added support for an FMS 3.5.3 feature called Stream Reconnect to OSMF 1.5 (release currently scheduled for early November). In the event of a network connection loss, this allows the player to continue to play out the buffer while it attempts to reconnect to the network. Would this suit your needs? We will likely eventually add this to SMP as well.

I'm just trying to decide on purchasing the upgrade now or waiting. I don't want to pay for 3.5 HD now and a month from now have to pay it again.

It's against the terms to ask if someone knows of a news story or what have you if there is a new version coming? That's ridiculous. Granted I didn't say "news story" in my initial post, but I'm certainly not asking for insider trading secrets or asking someone at Apple to tell me secret info not readily available to the public. I'm just asking if there is a public blurb from somewhere, Apple would be best, if a new version was on the horizon. That's not against any rules. I searched and could not find anything, so I was hoping someone else knew.
The terms say
"Speculations or rumors about unannounced products."
I guess there are no official noticed out there, which is all I was asking.

When is the next version of Blend set to be released

Hi,
I am just curious when the next version of Blend is set to be released. There are some features and minor bugs that I am hoping will be addressed.
Some of them are:
1) Support for HTML Email Signatures or at the very least use my email signature defined on my Passport.
2) Being able to select all email attachments and manage them (i.e. download them all to my computer / phone). Currently I have to do 1 at time.
3) Edit contacts in Blend
4) After adding a contact the contact form does not disappear (i.e. no confirmation that new contact has been added).
5) In month calendar view, highlight the current day
6) View all communications (i.e. Email, BBM, SMS, etc.) for a contact (i.e. activity)
7) View email by subject (i.e. Display Style = Conversation) or at least match the setup on Passport
8) Hide sent emails
Nice to have feature:
1) See a snapshot of the tiles open on my BB Passport. (i.e. so if i have weather open then I will see the weather tile in Blend)

When is the next version of Safari 4

I have to say I am disappointed with the Public Beta. It is buggy (as you might expect from a Beta), but the only improvement appears to be the Top Sites page option.
My main beef is that it the Refreshing Page and Adding Clippings have inexplicably been withdrawn and, although one can key Apple+R to do the former, this seems a retrograde step for those who are not quite so savvy.
It's also liable to crash or hang, and has required force-quitting on a number of occasions. Also, if you hit trouble and have to quit, there is no option to "Remember Tabs", as in some other browsers.

It's still there. It's just moved to inside the URL box on the right hand side.
It's also liable to crash or hang
Works fine here. Crashing is more often than not caused by an incompatible plugin.

The blog post also confirms what I have suspected for a long time: server behaviors will be removed from the next version. They'll still be available as an extension, so existing users aren't left in the lurch. But the message is clear: start thinking of alternatives.

Working with a database doesn't necessarily involve writing a lot of code. There are several powerful PHP frameworks, all of them free, that do all the hard lifting for you. If WordPress is too much like a sledgehammer, an alternative is Perch. It's not free, and it requires a separate licence for each website, but it has an excellent reputation. It's developed and maintained by Drew McLellan and his wife, Rachel Andrew, two very talented web developers (they're Brits, too). I don't have any affiliation with them. I've just heard lots of good things about them and Perch.
Sure David I hear what you're saying BUT Wordpress is too clumsy for the client to use simply. It's far too easy to add a myriad of extentions which could break the website design. Every time Wordpress is released you need to upgrade with it. It has security risks as far as I know. It's certainly not soemthing that I would touch after having given it a run out, several times. The whole package is really messy in my view and you're less in control of the process. Coding is King.
Yes, Perch is much better and simpler but is still quite restrictive, I've used that too. I've just finished a website which as far as I'm concerned required a bespoke CMS. Not only that if you write the code, or most of it, you have full control and knowledge in the event of something which stops working......at least I have a chance of sorting out the problem them. Totally relying on 3rd party products or extentions you have zero chance UNLESS you're some kind of code wizard which you arent going to be if youre using Wordpress or Perch.
I think the reason why there is less and less activity in the forum you mentioned is that many have moved away from using the DW server behaviours (php is the most popular server language by far) BUT Adobe have sat on their backside and missed the boat prefering to concentrate on rather lame updates.
I'm sure your right about WebAssist and DMX Zone whose extention MUST be compatibale with the Dreamweaver ones. I guess its over to them to come up with something that replaces the ones in Adobe as they themselves are highly unlikley to do it themselves.
For me its a question of I have now got to go and learn some of the new sqli which on the outset seems a lot more streamlined than the functional crap DW was writting anyway.

The Next Version 4.5 or 5.0 Suite

Greetings, I am wondering if anyone here has any knowledge or heard any rumors about he timeline of the next "point" release? I currently have the PS3 Production Suite, which has been on a recently downed computer. As I am preparing my new PC and getting ready7 to reload 3.0, I am considering the upgrade from version 3 to 4.0 now up to 4.1 as I understand it now. So my question is one of opinion:
1. Is the upgrade from version 3.0 suite to the 4.0 suite a definite worhtwhile upgrade when considering the product as a whole?
2. I have also been in a position of upgrading to one version only to have the next version pop up within a few months, I am wondering since 4.0 has been out long enough if I should not wait for the next upgrade if that is going to be within six months- Anyone have an opinion?
Obviously, these two questions are strictly opinion related, I would be grateful for some/ant insight in about these two (or more questions) form some of the many experienced users here. I work mainly in HDV, now have some AVCD clips to and find them to be quite a pain to edit smoothly ( I7 920 - 12GB DD3 8500 (1066)- I have thought about trying the "Neo" product from Cineform to convert to intermediate workfiles and then re-code.
Any comments, help is appreciated-I am not an expert, just a hobby-you know like whn all of the familes video work falls to you .

I have yet to get an Core i7 yet but from what I have read here and elsewhere you can overclock that processor to give you more speed to a little over 3GHz
Im still on a Pentium Single core and HDV gives me a pain in CS4
It was better in CS3
I do like the feel of CS4 better and they are getting better with the suite.
The 4.1 update did make HDV play much better.
Your Core i7 should handle it much better than my system.
From what I have read the Free 30 day trial does NOT support HDV so I guess that is out but maybe you could try it first with the other formats to see if you like it better.
In my opinion CS5 is quite a ways out.
CS4 feels like it just got here.
Of course they could keep updating it to make it better.
For me I always like having the newest version but when things dont work right it sure makes it a pain.
I couldn't even play HDV without any lag until version 4.1 and even now my system is way to slow to play it in real-time.
I have to play it in DRAFT QUALITY just to play HDV.
Now SD plays perfect.
I down-convert inside my camera to SD and only shoot in HDV for furture proofing for when I do swith to HD.
Read up on Overclocking that i7 920.
Harm has some good specs on his i7 with great results.

The Next Version of Premiere Pro CC - Warp Stabilizer

With the recent post of what's coming in the next version of PPro CC, I was sad to see no mention of Warp Stabilizer. As amazing of an effect as it is, it needs a bit of help. I know there are improvements and fixes that probably weren't mentioned in the post so I'm still holding out hope. We use Warp Stabilizer more than anyone I know. Several hundred times per week. Yes, per week, no exaggeration. Over the last few years, we've built an entire style of shooting around the strengths of this awesome effect that emulates the use of a slider, steadicam and crane all without having to have them. So we've become really familiar with its PROS and CONS.
Here is a short list of SEVEN things that should be addressed with regards to warp stabilizer within Premiere Pro CC to maximize its effectiveness (and yes we did submit multiple Feature Requests for these so far to no avail):
FIrst and foremost and by far MOST IMPORTANT to us - Allow users to create a CUSTOM PRESET with any altered settings that will engage (or begin Analyzing/Stabilizing) automatically when added to a clip!! This is huge. If you double click on Warp Stabilizer with a clip selected, it is applied to that clip and begins the process of stabilizing that clip. However, the vast majority of the time we need to alter the settings of the effect. If we create a custom preset, that's all fine and good, but when we add that to a clip, it does NOT begin stabilizing. Instead you have to manually go into the Effect Controls for each clip and select ANALYZE. Huge waste of time when adding this effect to hundreds of clips. PLEASE FIX!
BUG when saving projects!!! - If this is not a bug, it needs to be fixed because it's awful. - If you have more than one sequence with multiple warp stabilizations added and GPU ACCELERATION IS ENABLED, then after you SAVE a project (or if it auto-saves) when you toggle between the two sequences you are hit with a delay or freeze while the render bar goes from Yellow to Red...and finally back to yellow again. No work can be done during this delay/freeze. The more stabilized clips, the longer the delay. For us, on our larger projects this delay is sometimes 30 seconds to almost a full minute! Once it turns back to yellow, you can toggle between sequences without the delay...but as soon as it saves again...and you toggle between sequences, the delay hits again. If this is a bug, or somehow a result of Premiere Pro's way of CACHING projects after it's saved, then I sincerely hope it's fixed asap. It's awful!
The third is more of a feature request than a fix - Add the ability to set the maximum scale to work WITH the smoothness control so that if you never want your clips to scale more than say 105%, you can set that and have Warp Stabilizer stabilize the clip and adjust the "smoothness" percentage from the default "50%" down to whatever it needs to be in order for that clip to be fully stabilized and scaled to no more than 105%. Correct me if I'm wrong, but this is not possible currently. Right now we have to manually adjust each clip if it is initially scaled too much by dropping down the Smoothness %.
Another great feature would be the ability to manually keyframe the scaling so that if you have a longer clip that starts fairly steady, then needs to be smoothed out a bit more in the middle, before it ends relatively steady again, you can slowly and seamlessly ramp up the stabilization/scaling so that the whole clip doesn't have to be scaled to make up for the misgivings of one portion of the clip.
Minor bug - sometimes when you have extended the length of a clip, the clip needs to be re-analyzed again. However, the "analyze" button is often greyed out. You need to click away from the clip and then click on the clip again to make that button appear again. Nothing big, but still, a small bug.
After Effects Warp Stablizer VFX feature carried over - It would be nice to carry over to Premiere the ability to isolate what in frame is supposed to be stable (sometimes someone nodding their head can trick the effect into thinking that it's the camera shaking). Great to have it in AE, but would be nice to carry over to Premiere Pro CC.
Finally, I've always believed that no matter how cool "Subspace Warp" sounds, it is not as effective as "Position, Scale & Rotation". This SHOULD be the deafult "method" within the Warp's settings. I'd say 95% of the thousands and thousands of clips we've stabilized we ended up switching the "Method" within the settings to "Position, Scale & Rotation" because it either scaled the shot less or created less "wobble" in the resulting stabilized clip. I know everyone shoots differently, and sometimes Subspace Warp is the way to go, but we have stabilized all sorts of shots with great success by simply switching this setting. Granted...if #1 on this list was taken care of we could then easily have this set as our default setting.
Hopefully this list either reaches someone within Adobe that can do something about them or at the very least inspires others to write feature requests and bug fixes as we have. Even resolving #1, #2 and #3 would be HUGE and would save our editors probably 10 hours per week. It's an awesome effect, far better than "smoothcam" on FCP7, it just needs a little love.

If you make a preset by only selecting the values you change (and not a preset for the whole effect) then it will auto-analyze on apply.
Simplest way: apply WS, make edits, hit UU to reveal changed params, select all "i-beams" in the Timeline, drag them to the Effects & Presets panel.
For #4, you can get manual control over the scaling by setting Framing to Stabilize Only, and then keyframe Additional Scale to taste. At one point we were going to try to automate this, but found automatic scaling to be very subjective as to the best way to handle it.
For #6, Warp Stabilizer will not track areas with zero alpha channel. So you can pre-mask the input to reveal just the parts you want to stabilize. Do this inside a nested sequence, with Warp Stabilizer applied downstream (in the outer sequence). The just-announced masking & tracking capabilities of the next CC version should be handy for this.

Great to hear that you guys are taking a look at this list. Hope it helps make it better. #1, #2, and #3 are by far the biggest time killers for us so hopefully they'll be able to be fixed/resolved within Premiere soon.
Regarding your note about #1: Allowing this functionality within Premiere specifically would be very helpful. Would it be possible to eventually allow Premiere to auto-analyze when a saved custom preset is applied to a clip? I tried it in AE as you suggested, and couldn't figure it out. But realistically we use Warp Stabilizer on so many clips that round tripping literally hundreds of short clips to AE would be just as time consuming as going into the settings in premiere for each one and adjusting the parameters. We usually adjust the method and then adjust the smoothness scale so that it doesn't "Auto-Scale" more than 104%. That's where our #3 suggestion would help. I didn't quite understand how to make a preset of specific changed values. I tried, but couldn't follow DanW's suggestion. Granted, I'm not that great with AE. I really just use it for the Warp VFX's ability to isolate what in frame is stabilized (hope that comes to Premiere one day) and that's about it. And I really only have to do that a couple times per project. Anyway, I'm sure I'm doing DanW's suggestions wrong but regardless, I'm not sure it would save us much time when we have several hundred individual little clips that would all need to be sent to AE. Any hope for adding this auto-analyze functionality (hopefully allowing a custom preset on the whole effect and all it's adjusted parameters) in Premiere CC?

Regarding your note about #6: I think I half understand what you described. I'd have to try it. Although, as I said before, the AE way of doing it is ideal and I just hoped that ability to show the tracking points and delete them over time would come to Premiere CC one day. When the next CC comes out I'd love to try this masking method although I think I'll have to claify exactly what you want me to do just to be safe. Is there no hope to port this added functionality that's in AE's Warp VFX over to Premiere's Warp Stabilizer? Again, not the end of the world for us. I'd rather #1, #2 and #3 be addressed inside Premiere Pro CC for now.
Fixing the first 3 on this list would be HUGE time saver for us.

The later iOSs requires at least OSX 10.5.8 for the Mac. You need iTunes 10.5 but 10.4.11 only goes to 9.x.. 10.5.8 is a paid upgrade.
Are you sure that you have a 3G iPod? If it is 8 or 16 GB it is a 2G and those can only go to 4.2.1 (also requires 10.5.8 or later). A 32 GB can be either 2G or 3G. To identify yours:

Do a clean reinstall and delete the Firefox program folder before (re)installing a fresh copy of the current Firefox release.
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.

Uninstall your current Firefox version, if possible, to cleanup the Windows registry and settings in security software.
*Do NOT remove personal data when you uninstall your current Firefox version, because all profile folders will be removed and you will lose all personal data like bookmarks and passwords from profiles of other Firefox versions.
Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.

*It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.

Your bookmarks and other personal data are stored in the Firefox profile folder and won't be affected by an uninstall and (re)install, but make sure that "remove personal data" is NOT selected when you uninstall Firefox.
If you keep having problems then also create a new profile.

Good luck with that...I'm trying to do the same thing.
I work for AT&T Customer Care/Tech Support and there's no way in hell I would recomend the 8220 to any customer unless RIM will actually start doing some customer service. Ive even recomended to AT&T never to support this device until RIM solves this OBVIOUS device issue.
I've even offered to RIM that I am willing to pay some for an upgrade - or a downgrade to a lesser Blackberry - I don't care which, I just want a Blackberry that actually works!
I don't think RIM will do anything untill forced to - ie. if someone needs to call 911 on an 8220 and it shuts off and someone ends up dying as a result. The court case would be LOVELY to see... Would be nice to see a class-action-lawsuit over this issue as well...
If RIM would actually give us an option of replacing this obvious lemon of a phone, maybe, just MAYBE we wouldnt be as upset and would remain loyal customers/users - Just sayin...
